Hey new idea for a fic.

It's one hour before the Rift. Everyone is forced to face the idea they're probably about to die hideously. So they all get completely trashed on sopor and pray they don't feel it.

I dunno, seemed like a funny excuse for bizzare pesterlogs or romance dumbness or whatever. Still depressed over the Karkat/Kanaya timelog. Hope this next one is cheerful.

It's kinda hard to describe how I hear her. She's got plenty of manic energy when she speaks, but her voice itself is gravelly/scratchy. I'd give an example, but I don't think I've ever heard a close-enough match.

It's weird, Homestuck is one of the few, maybe the only, form of written media where I've ended up giving a 'voice' to each character I can distinctly hear in my head. Mostly brought on by the typing quirks and A-class character interactions.

Terezi always had a... not a lisp, Sollux has that. More like some weird stuffy-mouthed hiss spoken one octave too loud for comfort. Probably why I can't stand to hear any voice acting done for it, it just clashes way too hard with what my mind created.

I'm not going to lie pretty much every character sounds exactly like me with some vague quirk. I am so bad when it comes to imagining voices.

I guess sorta like that. Not exactly. Like not a high pitched whistle like that beaver from Winnie the Pooh, but more like she slurs/hisses her A's, I's, and E's like her typing, while also sounding like her cheeks are slightly stuffed with something, AND she's talking just a little too loud.

As for a sopor-party well I guess on reconsideration it'd just be sad because then they'd probably all hold each other and stare at the colors and cry or something. <:(

I always imagined Terezi as being a little croak-ey, to exaggerate the jaggedness of her constant laughter, giving her a broken, mocking tone during speech. Like she's making fun of a kid whose voice was breaking, or imitating someone choking up on the verge of tears.

I put too much thought into this.

I don't really imagine voices, just...bizarre Banjo-Kazooie-esque grunts in certain timbres for each character. Strange, since I usually read with actual voices in mind. I can describe what they sound like in my head, but I can't put an actual voice to any of them, if that makes any sense. Eridan, for example, speaks with a faltering vaguely East European accent, weaving in and out of it as he chooses, part of his need to create a facade to conceal his feelings. Feferi is bubbly, permanently excited sounding, and she kind of gurgles, her voice squeaking and drawn in the back of her throat (like Flapjack) when especially excited.

Gamzee's the only person I have an actual voice to, and that's Tommy Chong. I can't not hear that man's ragged, permanently high voice when I read any of Gamzee's lines. It's probably why most Gamzee productions weird me out because most others prefer Cheech without the Latin accent.

I never really imagine voices, just characteristics. Tavros would be soft spoken with a bit of a drawl he uses to buy some time thinking what to say next, Karkat ends all his sentences with a rise in volume and pitch, Gamzee would speak real slow and mellow but a little hoarse, etc

Also I'll try to write something for the Rift, hopefully at least bittersweet. Don't worry, Anon, it'll be alright. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day, but there are some things disaster and circumstance can never take away if you don't let it, even if you need a little help holding on. Operation Brofic is go.

But yeah, I can't HEAR every voice clearly, but they all do have, like was said, characteristics distinct in the mind. Kanaya is a soft and almost-monotone murmur, Eridan has this weird gravel-throated drawl, Equius has a bizarre ass voice like a more high-pitched Shere Khan, and so on for all the others.

And while I don't imagine these as being their voices at all, I do like this as an imagined example of a Karkat/Gamzee interaction.
