Futurama had five seasons to get to the state we remember. They just shook off that lethargy with a few movie length continual productions.

I think the commentaries on the older episode DVD said they planned an episode with the Space Pope making a real appearance, but I don't think this is it.

Who knows if that'll end up happen; did they mention if any of the scripts/concepts that they didn't get around to using for the original run are going to be used?

My verdict: It is just like old Futurama. The first season took a bit of momentum to get going, and then it was an enjoyable romp bouncing between contented smiles and hearty guffaws.

You have to remember that Futurama has been around eleven years. Only active for about half that time, but the point is the writers have to trip over static canon in order to make jokes.

Kif and Amy got back together at the end so no harm no foul.

It's official; Futurama is back.

First few episodes were a little rough, but the latest have been a riot. The time machine one and the Bender/Hermes one felt like they could have been right out of the original seasons. I'm beyond happy right now.
