No. 4151
>>4150 An actual, honest account of it all would take a week or two to put together, but I can list some points, I guess.
Overall, I actually like it.
+ Utility app variety is massive. MASSIVE. I don't really see the need to have a particularly advanced smartphone when I have this right now. It's even taking the slack for a few of my other devices. I can see myself using it for cookbooks and textbooks and such, along with browsing the web on the john. + Dictation works ridiculously well. Makes me wonder why Siri wasn't put on as well. + In the times when you can tell the difference, the screen is magical. The colors don't seem as nice as on the PSV, but the resolution is maddening. Not enough apps take advantage of it right now, though.
/ The new screen is nice, but it doesn't make a huge difference in most cases. If you're interested in an iPad, play with a 2nd and 3rd gen for a while, and see which one you prefer. / Nothing worthwhile takes advantage of the device's power. It's still nice to be able to effortlessly multitask a billion apps at once, though.
- It does get hot like everyone says, but not as much as my laptop. - The chargers are mad wonky. Apparently my old iPhone/iPod chargers don't work when I use the non-Apple USB-outlet converter, and it doesn't charge on my desktop for some reason. - The game selection is pretty grim. There are lots of console/handheld ports with ridiculous prices and terrible controls, millions of variants of the same popular game, etc. Good games are rare gems. For example, there are a few cave shooters out right now. - I can tell my 16gb model will get filled up soon. Oh boy~ - It's thick, heavy, and fragile. I walked up Lexington from 42nd street to 68th, and found myself struck with several anxiety attacks, grimly expecting some mad hazard to come out of nowhere and crack it's shitmade body into a million pieces. My 4thgen Kindle isn't like that at all. It's super-fragile, yes, but it doesn't feel that way. It's also really light and easy to hold one-handed. You can actually tell while holding the new iPad that in two or so years, it'll be the old, giant dinosaur that nobody in the world would want to buy with all the better options out there. Think: DS Phat made of glass.
I still haven't tried using dictation to jot down large messages, or playing music, etc. I still have a lot to learn about the device itself. I'll update you on it later.
