Just Microsoft Security Essentials has been working out well for me. And I mean, if you use Adblock Plus or something similar and stay away from obviously malicious sites, most of the danger is avoided anyway.

Seconding Adblock.

In a two year period of using Adblock, I ran Spybot S&D twice. I didn't find a single threat either time.

i just run malwarebytes and avg tray watch, theyre pretty small

adaware is becoming worse with time in my opinion. malwarebytes catches most things, for sure get that

also, Noscript is a FF plugin similar to AdBlock. Between those 2 I haven't really had the need for an anti-virus

you have to add a supscription to a adblock list, otherwise its going to do jack shit

i also use noscript to keep anything i don't want from auto running
