Pre Scratch likely had 13 players, including UU. The scratch might remove the 13th sign for some reason.

At this point, it pretty much goes like this, right?

John's Session scratches into Jane's Session which creates PreScratch Trolls' session which scratches into Karkat's session which creates John's session until infinity.

>> No. 61897

>It's all a causality loop of SBURB sessions.

This is definitely an older theory from when how the scratch ACTUALLY works was found out. Still not confirmed yet (and neither is that we'll see all the incarnations of every troll ever, so stop panicking).

So, dealing with the best in story evidence we have, I would like to remind everyone of this little tid bit.

>UU: it is the day whereafter the legendary octet of mUtUal progenitoriety will come together and heal a great breach in paradox space.
>UU: a day delivered throUgh eighty billion years and foUr distinct Universal instances worth of Unfathomable tUrbUlence.
>UU: and while the emerald eye of this storm is fixed in the abyss forever
>UU: today yoU are poised to escape its scowl once and for all.
>UU: by skaias gUiding light, yoU may leave behind its tUrning arms of bright coloUrs and mayhem, and secUre peace for yoUr cosmic progeny for all dUration.

So, Green Sun business as a whole is a "great breach" in paradox space (kind of a funny thought). Most notably though is the "secure peace for your cosmic progeny" bit. So, at least as far as UU knows, things will sort of be fixed up by the end of things, and the universe created jointly by the kids, either using the tadpole that got dropped in the Forge or some other means, will be a safe place free of Green Sun dirtiness, and likely everyone will escape there.

Funny thing is, this still leaves exactly all the options open for how things actually go down. The kid's Alpha session could end up making the Pre-Scratch Troll's universe and they all simply find "elsewhere" to go. Or the Pre-Scratch Troll's universe was made by some other species, probably the Squiddle's session, and the kids' frog will be some other place to live free of Green Sunniness. Or they could make a new universe and it's still trapped in the Green Sun's influence and they still have to escape elsewhere (though this is only possible if UU's prediction is incorrect; unreliable narrator is not a thing Hussie is above).

RANDOM FARFETCH'D IDEA

UU is from the universe the Kids end up making. I know that evidence points more towards her being from the Troll's Pre-Scratch universe and having some source of info about the sessions to come "after" hers. But, it's not necessarily impossible that they make a universe of Troll's that's NOT the Troll's Pre-Scratch Universe. Probably.

The real reasons behind the fanart wave are these:

- She is a new character, when Dirk putting HB's head on a pike was an establishing moment of greatness from an existing character.
- Dirk's scene was, well, a scene. They take more time and effort to draw than a portrait. It is easy and simple for an artist to barf out a bust of Young Mindfang (??) though.
- People really loved Vriska and Mindfang, and they are excited that perhaps they are back in the story after a year's absence. She also bears resemblance to Terezi, and people also really liked the Terezi-Vriska dynamic which was, again, put to rest a year ago.
- I guess people really like her design? I think it is kind of sucky but whatever, I'm probably not in the majority.

Ok, so Jake had a non-Prospit dream. Therefore many of us conclude his dreamself is dead. Especially him dream meeting a troll points to this conclusion.

I'm bringing this up because of Jane's LIFEY THING. Still not conclusive at all, but a lot of us are hoping that her LIFEY THING basically revived her dreamself after the ball dropped.

What my Hope is (haha) is that somehow Jake's Dreamself doesn't stay dead, since it would be unsymmetrical/unfair/just plain suck if Jake were the only one who didn't even get a chance to achieve God Tier.

Hopeful speculation:
Jake's dreamself is in a coma, not actually dead.
Jake's dreamself is dead, but Jane's LIFE explosion revives him.

That latter would explain his VOID encounter with presumably Pre-Scratch Mindfang. Anyone know what time frame Jake's recent blackout is relative to when Jane's dreamself gets Jack'd?

If you really don't want to keep it going you should stop talking about it. I mean, thats the logical course of action.

Anyway there's gonna be a loophole even if he is truly dead on the dream-side, and its not like a...allergy coma. or he becomes LE instead of going god-tier of course.
>> No. 61956

Honestly I'm rather worried about that. Scratch and Rose's Conversation is what I'm quoting here:

>Because, much like the decisions you must face to complete your dual suicide missions, you have two ways of achieving godhood to choose from.
>TT: Two ways?
>TT: By dying on the Quest Bed on my planet, and some other way?
>Yes.
>TT: Is there another Quest Bed somewhere?
>Yes. Good guess, Seer.
>TT: Where?
>What difference does it make? You already know where the first one is. You have the choice to go there right now and take your own life.

Doc Scratch plays with his cards up. He never says things that are false, only lies of omission, which, apparently, aren't actually lies in his not-eyes. You might think that his "Good guess" reply to there being two Quest Beds leaves room for a loophole, but not only does he say "You already know where the first one [quest bed] is", but we know from canon that there are Quest Beds in the center of the moons of Prospit and Derse.

The only ways we've seen anyone ascend to the God Tiers are 1) having your normalself die on your planet's quest bed, which then combines/transfers your consciousness into your dreamself which becomes God Tier, and 2) having no physical self alive and having your dreamself die on a Prospit/Derse Quest Bed.

As anyone who's read the comic should know, just because we've seen some cases doesn't mean that we know the actual rules being followed, just that each thing we've seen follows the rules as they are, even if we don't know them.

Again, while this type of skepticism would normally leave room for speculation on other ways to achieve God Tier, Doc Scratch's words are the exception here. There are two "ways" to get to God Tier. Scratch said that's because there are two Quest Beds for each player. And every God Tier we've seen has ended up in their dreamself's body.

But maybe I'm being too harsh. We STILL don't know the limits of the Quest Beds. It may be that planetary Quest Beds only work on physical selves if they have a dream self to occupy. It may be that the moons' Quest Beds only work on dreamselves that don't have a physical body they connect to. Or it may be that moon Quest Beds work on any incarnation of a player, and just use the one that's there on the bed. Or it may be that all quest beds are the same, and they just prefer to shunt you into your dreamself if you have one, and will make do with the body on them if that's all that you have. The point is we really don't know.

Hmm, I started out pretty doubtful, but this is leaving quite a bit of room for HOPE. (hee hee)
>> No. 61957
>>61956
Wait, doesn't kissing a dying "real"self cause the dream self to become the "real"self? Thus maybe it's not that a dream self must die in the center of one of the kingdom's moons but rather a "real"self. Jake would have a chance to got tiger if this was the case.

Yeah, it was snarky. From my perspective, it seems much more likely that this is a way to build up the empress as a threat in a really strange but still very dangerous way (Jane being a sleeper agent would really fuck things up), rather than her being arbitrarily stupid so that Jake and Dirk can have sloppy makeouts~~. I'll eat my hat if it just turns into that, but I don't think that the empress is just going to the be the Black Queen 2.0. She's got to be established as a really crafty and potent enemy, and this is probably a way that it's done for Jane.

I haven't liked Jane much because up until these last few pages she wasn't very funny. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

The most important thing about a Homestuck character to me is how funny they are. It IS primarily a comedy after all. If if a character is funny and consistent then I am happy with them. Jane so far has been consistent. Now she is being funny. If this continues then I will like her.

Vriska was admirable for her unwaivering willpower to become the best, constantly striving to become better and challenging herself at every obstacle.

I'd say she was interesting for all of those things, but I certainly don't find them admirable.
They were mostly portrayed as faults.

Was she more impressive? Certainly.
Did she accomplish more than Jane in a shorter period of time?
If so, it was only because Hivebent was so condensed.

Because, it means that Hussie knows she's doing something wrong and she'll either change and grow into something better or stay the same and shit will keep happening to her. And she's not that blande, it's just that everything so far has happened to her and she was being reactionary, and now she's finally bringing it on herself.

So, character growth or schadenfreude, and I don't really care which. She doesn't have to be admirable to be a good character, is what I'm saying.

I'll give you the more impressive part, but she was also far more of a bitch who also got what she deserved. I hate the character, but I enjoy having her in the story.

Challenging yourself is not a fault, she practiced fearlessness and determination throughout the entirety of hivebent.

Challenging yourself at the expense of others is a fault though; and her fearlessness and determination often took the form of recklessness and obstinance.
She was brave, but bravery without wisdom doesn't mean a whole lot.

As for accomplishment, I do agree that it CAN provide reasons to admire a character, but it doesn't always.

I need to ask, what is it about Gamzee that gets people so upset? A lot of the readers seem to hate him. Is it just because of his fangirls? Or because he killed characters that you liked?

If it's because he is a two dimensional killer clown character then I sort of get it but he didn't garner anywhere near this much hate when he was a two dimensional juggalo character.
>> No. 62117

Hating a character is fine, but in the end you can admit her part in the story was enjoyable, and at least provided interest even if most of it was negative.
For instance Vriska more than served her purpose of riling up the fanbase and pissing of just about everyone.

Yet even then she was a character, that although most people won't admit, was and impressive and interesting contribution to the story.

There is never a time i find myself hating everything about any character, as long as they contribute something to the story OR AT THE VERY LEAST present a reason for existing. (Comedic relief or even nightmare fuel)

What this all boils down to is poor writing on Hussie's part.
It shouldn't take a plethora of pages to manifest a decent character.

Even if after 1000 plus pages she ends up making an impact it won't change the fact it took so many pages to do so and that all of the potential interest that character could have gained is lost through seemingly endless pesterlogs and bland colorless tightass personal issues.

If you're referring to everything she did before entering the game then I agree, what she did in the story inflicted precisely what it was meant to evoke from the reader.

However, all events afterward involving Tavros was admirable.
The ways she went about trying to manifest the same fearlessness she has into Tavros were reckless and obnoxious.
But she still was challenging Tavros to be the best he could be, not to intentionally inflict harm on him, but to hopefully ensure his survival of the game, and maybe even ascending to god tier although highly unlikely.

Then him going crazy just felt forced, with "HONK HONK HONK OHHHHH SCARY" being REALLY irritating, none of it being funny. It just felt like the most god damn convenient plot device to cull the trolls. Eridan made sense for the most part (if the build up was a little too sudden, and really off tone with the goofy music), and Vriska vs. Tavros was a long time coming, but Gamzee... ugh.

>What do you think this is, Act 6 Intermission 2??

>That'll be happening pretty soon, don't worry. Let's all try to settle down here.

That's good, we're moving at a pretty decent pace. So I guess the intermissions will just follow the kids and trolls over the course of the three year journey. John and Jade will probably explore the planets and learn more about their lands, and maybe denizens, while Rose and Dave + co. will do more dream bubble shit, and WACKY ROMANCE will ensue.

And something is coming for Roxy now. I would guess that it'd be something Crocker sent after her, like we saw with Dirk. Should be interesting with GCat there.

RE: Dante Basco reading Homestuck.

A quote from the tumblr.

>Anyhow… thanks for all the messages, I appreciate hearing from everyone, although as far as Homestuck goes, I half feel like you guys are setting me up for some big practical joke and after hours of reading this thing I’m going to click onto the next page and jack-in-the-box is going to pop out of the screen of my computer saying, “Got you!”

Yeah, there's pretty much no way this is not just leading up to that Hussie/Rufio moment. I don't know how I'd react if I were in his shoes. Any way it goes down, this can only be amazing.

Isn't that the same lab found on Rose's planet? Is Roxy actually on her player planet before formally entering the game? It makes sense if so, because there's lots of evidence to suggest everything is in place with or without players actually being there or starting.

some people on the forums are speculating that dirk and roxy are somehow farther along in the timeline than jane and jake

which idk kinda makes sense but kinda doesnt
>> No. 62418
>>62416

We've had enough timeline shenanigans and non-linearity that it would be pretty frustrating at this point. I've liked that it's fairly straight-forward at this point, with the story just going back in time to catch up with another kid. I don't see what the point would be of having them in the future or something. The chats sync up, and the only weird thing so far is exiles for Roxy, which is entirely possible. Defense portal meteors can go anywhere at any time, like the 8 that brought all the beta babies to pre-scratch earth. Not out of the question that a meteor or battleship full of Dersites landed in the fairly wild area around Roxy/Rose's house.
>> No. 62419
Remember that the game has, in a sense, been going for two and a half years already. It's the Condesce who has been postponing the release date for the alpha just so she could set things up ahead of the Teens' entry into the Medium. Immediately exiling a whole bunch of Dersites and placing them on earth before the gates to the Medium even opened... wow

Seriously, the way she twists and turns the rules and limitations of this game is amazing and horrifying.

>CG: SERIOUSLY WHY WOULD IT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT EARTH'S PAST OR FUTURE OR WHATEVER, FROM IT'S PERSPECTIVE IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF POINTS TO CHOOSE FROM.

I don't see where you're getting it from that they're from the current time in the medium. They're just from the reckoning most likely.
>> No. 62424
This Dante Basco stuff going on with MSPA and the guy himself is just cracking me up I can't
>> No. 62425
>>62423
Well, it's entirely possible the Condesce sent them all back in time with the Reckoning so that they could fuck with the Teens' progress.

But since there aren't any prototypings, can there even be a Reckoning in this session? After all, the Battlefield is just a huge chessboard with two pieces eternally moving around the board without being able to attack the other. We also know that the Condesce somehow entered the Session herself without being either a player or inside the house of one when they installed Sburb. It's just as likely that she has another way of moving between the session and our universe, and with her time majjyyks she wouldn't have any trouble spreading these exiles wherever she wanted across the timeline.
