I hope I can post this here, prequel was started on the mspa forums and the story follows a lot like problem sleuth.

I'm hoping for for another nightmare sequence.

Prequel is great. I just wish the command-givers didn't feel like they need to write a fucking novel to Katia every time she screws something up.

We've had fanadventures on /mspa/ and discussions about them before, and no one had a problem with them. The owner of +4 even did one. Learn your history before you bitch about something on a site you only started frequenting, thanks in advance.

Also can someone please post the link to this one? I haven't been on the mspa forums in ages.

Love Prequel. I disagree that the big "comfort session" influxes should stop, though. As long as the author doesn't bother to include separate reactions to too many of them - which is kind of a waste of time/effort - wishing better for Katia is a huge part of experiencing the comic. If it weren't, she probably wouldn't be made so sympathetic through the workings of cruel plotfate and her weird-ass neuroses.

So it makes some of the commenters look white-knighty. Eh. Personally, I'm more glad than embarrassed for the attention it's getting.

Yeah. I read it today and it is pretty good, and I don't know fuckall about Oblivion aside from the fact that the Alternian text in Homestuck is upside-down mirrored Daedric letters. I guess it might enhance the experience if you do know it, but being oblivious doesn't really take much away.

I like them because of this page here: http://prequeladventure.com/2011/05/361/

>Some legends do speak of heroes whose fates were unwritten. Their destinies were said to be ambiguous even to the gods, who could only respond to the heroes’ actions – or attempt to guide them with no guarantee of success. Often, these mortals would grow unimaginably powerful, and their choices would affect the lives of millions. It was said to be a blessing and a curse: to hold your own fate, but to be the unknowable black wall that clouded the future from the divines…

It basically implies that we, the readers submitting commands, are the gods of the Elder Scrolls universe directing Katia. And when she screws up, the gods feel bad and try to comfort her and get her back to her journey.

Though if the comic becomes bombarded with them, and I doubt it will happen, then it would get annoying.

This is basically exactly how the alchemy exploit in Morrowind worked. Not sure if it also works in Oblivion.
You'd simply brew a potion to enhance your character's intelligence, which would allow them to brew better potions of intelligence etc. etc. until your intelligence was so stupidly high that you could then brew a potion that made your character so strong they could kill just about any enemy with one hit. Tended to instantly shatter the weapon you used, too.

I watch most of the Prequel discussions around the internet, and this is actually the only one I've found where anyone has talked about dropping it because of the last update.

Discussions don't always represent the bulk of visitors, though. I'm definitely going to be watching my stats page over the next couple days to see if the latest developments have an impact on readership levels. If anyone else is curious, I can post the graphs after they've had time to develop.

Hah, don't worry about me worrying. Prequel is a pretty big learning experience for me, so I love tracking people's reactions to the various events.

It actually looks like we've hit an all-time readership high today. Attached is the graph showing the number of viewers over the last month, with today at the end. Of course, what really matters is the data for the next couple days, when we can see how many current readers choose to leave and how many new readers choose to stay.

You might notice that there's usually a peak when I update and a crash the day after an update. I'm not sure how much of this is due to people using RSS feeds for notification, how much is due to word-of-mouth ("have you seen the latest Prequel update?"), and how much is due to people realizing I only update every other day or so. When I have the time to update daily again, it'll be interesting to see what this does to the bumpyness.

Quill-Weave is an actual NPC in Oblivion. Since this is a prequel to Oblivion, she should be safe until someone murders her while playing the actual game.
>> No. 50359

Well, sure, that seems logical, but keep in mind she's a non-essential NPC. You could kill her immediately when starting a new game with no consequences for the storyline whatsoever. Actually I think the only quest she shows up in is that pet rat thing for the fighters' guild.

well that was a sudden change of pace, everything is going Katia's way, she even said that nothing could possibly go wrong.

everything will go wrong, ASOTIL will probably die and then shortly after Gro-upp will show-upp and just rub it all in her face that everything has gone horribly by robbing her of whatever she has and she has to hobble home to Quill-Weave who will be upset and won't believe that story that a demon's gate has opened up and Katia will be homeless and in the rain.

You know what the REAL problem with the Dmitri thing was? it destroyed the trust between reader and author. I mean we all liked Dmitri and had no reason to think anything bad would happen to him ever, however now any time there's a new character introduced that the story shifts to, we'll assume he'll just die and even at Katia i'm wary to suggest ANYTHING at all because she'll just end up crying and alone again.
