So while I was in Alabama this chuby little robot jumped me. I think it had robot mange, or something. Anyway I took care of the body so I'm left with head now. Now does anyone know how to cook a robot head?

Desert Bus for Hope has opened it's donations acceptance early, for people who can't wait until the 16th to start donating. The actual playing of Desert Bus will begin at 10AM on November 16th, along with a couple different auctions and the beginning of the multi-day insanity that always results when you get so many of the Loading Ready Run crew and their friends together in the same place and on camera.

http://desertbus.org/

And no, I'm not part of the LRR crew, but I am a fan of what they do, and I figured if anybody needed a heads-up that they can donate early, I'd post it here. I like giving to charities (I've already donated one big bag of knitted hats and scarves of various sizes that I've made myself to my local homeless shelter, and I'm working on filling up bag #2 right now), and Child's Play is a good cause.

What's the metal to plastic ratio? Boiling's usually a good choice, but you don't want to get sick from rust.
>> No. 386267
>>386257
Hmmmm, I see a spring. So it's 99.9% plastic to .1% metal.
It's a real eco-friendly robot come to think of it.
As for boiling....I don't know. I mean that's a sure fire way to kill off all those Nanites, but you loose that great robot flavor. I could blossom the head.
I'll have to think carefully about this.

I'm just going to say it (here, because if I did on FB I'd be creamed): I don't give a shit about Veteran's Day. And I'm technically a veteran (I've not seen combat, though, so I don't like to use the term to refer to myself.)

It's a masturbatory holiday, where people go to events to show they "support the troops" or businesses give veterans free meals in order to get money off of the rest of their family or discounts that still leave a profit margin on average. It's feel good bullshit where politicians parade around wearing the largest American flag lapel--likely bought by some company lobbying them--and giving speeches about the good our soldiers do fighting for our freedoms.

But those standing in front of the flag in their three-pieces don't care. Few of them do.

If any of them did care:
-VA wouldn't have a horrific backlog of claims
-VA hospitals wouldn't have so many problems
-Private business owners/educators would put more effort into hiring/training soldiers retiring from duty
-Congress would give up some of their over-priced and unnecessary pet projects (F-35) and use their funding to instead improve the lives of veterans and increase the pay of active-duty soldiers
-The citizens that go to those events would volunteer their services, when possible, to returning soldiers and/or donate their used goods to the VA charities

Fuck Veteran's Day. For me, it only serves as a reminder to how much bullshit people spew but don't back up.

i cant wait until the generation of old farts holding this city back die off

we cant touch the parks surrounding the downtown area which are deserted almost all year and nothing but dustbowls in summer because that would be encroaching on MUH PARKLANDZ

we cant fix one of the cities most notrious intersections because it would mean cutting down some trees and expanding it into MUH PARKLANDZ

I work in a dining hall in a nursing home. We are hideously short-staffed.
There are supposed to be two to three people working every night, but for the past several months I've been working the floor alone. I've talked to the higher ups, but they can't find other people to hire, and they won't pay me more despite my consistently doing the work of two to three people every day.
I'm exhausted, and in the process of looking for other jobs.

How do you help the depressed online?
Occasionally someone I'm following will pour their damn heard out in distress and shame and I have no idea what to say that might not make everything worse. tell them exactly that. tell them that even if you can't change anything for them, they aren't alone if they don't want to be. not right then, while you're present to them.

and then it's up to them how they want to respond.

i'm always told that you can't save people, you can only love them.

i don't know how true that is, but i haven't found any situations where i've saved someone. i've had people tell me they have but in the end all i did was watch them save themselves.

The worst part about being a woman IMO is that sometimes I feel very irrational the week before my period and I'm not sure if I'm upset at someone because I actually 100% feel that way or because I'm PMSing hard and my brain is exaggerating it.

Today, as I sit very angry at someone for an objectively small offense like not answering a text, I suspect it's the latter. I just need to relax a bit, I think.

While I imagine that shoving a bowling ball out of your vagina is likely a large source of the pain, from what I know you're correct. My mom is a doula (sorta like a midwife, but more emotional than physical support) so I've learned more than I would care to know about pregnancy and birth (and this is likely why I have a pregnancy fetish.) Squatting is preferred, but something my mom would often suggest is actually birth in a hot tub (of sorts; the water is kept warm but not nearly as hot as a regular hot tub.)

The baby is born underwater, but because of the umbilical cord it doesn't drown (not that it's just left to float in there for long.) And the change in environment is easier as the water acts as a transition, of sorts.
