Hey there /draw/, /coc/ project here.

For the most part our project needs an artist (or artists) and I thought you'd be a lot nicer than /ic/. So, hopefully, you all can take things in stride and/or not troll.

The project in question is about a tasteful (see: non-erotic) cape comic involving a college attending male-to-female transsexual. The focus is going to be on superheroing first, their transsexualism second, the latter mostly applying in small parts of their civilian life.

We're currently in the planning stages, having fleshed out the main character's powers, personality, the setting, etc. We're still working on villain design and secondary characters.

The art style we'd like is a little more toward realistic and/or comic book style, not anime/manga. We'd like for it to be in color but concept art can be in black/white.

If this is something that'd interest you, please, hop on over to the thread on /coc/ and post some of your work (or do it in this thread).

I'll also gladly answer questions about the project in general because a 500+ reply thread is going to be a bit tedious to read through.

Pic is a concept art done by Banth, before personal life took him away from the project. Was option one of the character's costume.

I think your reaction would be warranted if they weren't trying to make it a decent comic, with the character being a tranny first and superhero second.

Oh, of course. Forgot the link:

Oops.

Personally I don't think you guys should be advertising for an artist, at least not when you haven't got everything set up. More bait for fish to bite on, and what not.

I would at the very least consider reading this.

well...I guess I'm no good here....Thought it sounded interesting though...

We do have a fair bit set up. Right now we need an artist because we do need to check visuals on villains and whatnot, my horrible scribbles really can't be used to do that.

Thanks!

>>33614

While not realistic I do like your style none the less. Feel free to pop by the thread and toss out an idea or something if you want. Help is always appreciated.

Give them some credit.

What IS the point of it, exactly? Transsexualism doesn't add any depth to the character, it's just a lame gimmick that will be run into the ground pretty damn fast. Like Barbara in a wheelchair. No matter how talented the writer and artist are, it will still be a comic book about a person in a fucking WHEELCHAIR, not about a superhero. And no matter how hard you try, the emphasis will STILL be on transsexualism, because superheroes are a common cliché for an average comic reader and girls with penises are not. There's just no way escaping it.

I totally dig the costume, though.

>Like Barbara in a wheelchair.

You do realize that most people LOVE Barbara as Oracle, right? And the moment she became Oracle she stopped being a caped superhero and became the tech support for the Bat family and Birds of Prey, so your example isn't all that accurate.

People loved Babs as Batgirl, but they also loved Cass.

Also
>Transsexualism doesn't add any depth to the character

I think this is up to opinion, not fact. Bad writing won't add anything, good writing will add depth to it.

Well, i think she's still a pretty cool character, handicapped or not, what I'm telling is you can't make her the star of her own series without «baw i can't walk» leaking out of every page anymore, it's an elephant behind the curtain.

Not really, its sorta like a black or a lesbian character. If you see the new Question, do you think "Lesbian" every frame? Or if you see Luke Cage, do you think "Black" every second he's seen?

If the writers don't call attention to it, it shouldn't really be the in the forefront of the reader's mind. If they do bring it up, it is likely for character development (like Barb).

Really, really, really bad examples.

I think Question isn't a bad one, though I concede that Cage maybe is. Still, my point stands, so long as its not being shoved in your face, it isn't in the forefront of the reader's mind.

I really think of the new question as "Lesbian-Question". In my mind, that's her name.

Okay, I know you're looking for artists, but as I've been watching this thread for a couple of days, and it really just seems like an extension of the /coc/ thread, and no illustrations being submitted.

As this is the case, I suggest either going back to the original thread on /coc/, or if you believe the 500+ reply topic is too daunting for people new to the project, make a new topic to start off fresh.

As there is no drawing going on, I don't feel this belongs here.

I'll leave it unlocked until tomorrow though.

Well, logically that is why we are looking for artists.

I could put up the drawings of some of the artists who were drawing for us before they disappeared, though they aren't my work and I'm not sure how people would feel about that.

Or, I suppose, I could put my god awful rough drafts up, though again, I don't know how people would feel about that as it is basically just saying "here, draw this". Well, that and I have difficulty with proportion.

Much to my dismay it isn't just about the 500+ thread, but rather this board is the only art related one that won't be troll infested. /ic/ is, of course, unhelpful and /co/ turns any thread into a 200+ trollfest, which discourages people from going to the +4chan thread.

Either way, picture is a second design for the heroine's costume. All credit goes to Banth, like the pic in the OP.

The issue is that this isn't really a /draw/ sort of thread. Perhaps now that people on /draw/ are aware of the project (this assumes they weren't before) they can continue discussion over in /coc/.

No.33666
Also, since I'm too lazy to log in right now, I'll give this thread a stay of execution until tomorrow.
