Come on, I can't be the only one who reads these...
Nope, I've been following Wizards of Mickey and the Incredibles pretty closely. Also been having a good time with World to Come
>>52835I'm loving the covers.
>>52841I don't even care if there will be a TPB.I want these individual issues for their covers.
>>52842Maybe I'm just a sucker for a cover image that extends to the back.
>>52842>>52843My shop hasn't been getting these later covers. Feels bad man.
Boom's done in one year what Gemstone couldn't do in ten: make Disney comics relevant again. Following The Incredibles closely, and I'm thinking of getting into the others. Definitely going to pick up Darkwing Duck when it comes out, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good Kim Possible or Gargoyles comic.Fillmore too, but I already know that'll never happen.
>>52846Yeah, Gemstone was just stupid in trying to focus on the collectors market only and make the fucking things six bucks an issue.
>>52846>GargoylesI feel obligated to ask this every six months or so: what the HELL is going on with the comic that's supposed to be a continuation from the last episode Weisman considers canon?
>>52852That comic ended because the licensing fees got too expensive for SLG, along with the other Disney properties they did, though they at least were able to release all the unreleased material into trade paperback collections. There are two trades of the Gargoyles comic, along with it's spinoff Bad Guys, and they just put out a new Haunted Mansion one with the two issues not in the hardcover and the stuff that Disney Press paperback omitted.
Anyways, I like them. It's not exactly flying off the shelves here, though.I finally found a place with some near here though, so I hope to follow a bit more closely now.Fortunately, I picked up the first Wizards of Mickey trade, so I'm more or less caught up on that.Is there an Ultraheroes TPB yet?
>>52856Also oh shit, LaTo$ 2 is coming soon.Gotta get that, those stories got me into Disney Comics in the first place.
>>52856I think there's an Ultraheroes one now.
>>52858Oh yes, I see it it.Not in any of the bookstores, though.Maybe next time I'm headed to the city all call ahead and ask if the comic store has any in stock. As an aside, I like that the newer issues are supplementing their longer stories with shorter ones.Especially Hero Squad because their short stories are the origin stories of the heroes. It works much better than just trying to explain it in editor's notes.Makes me wonder if they'll be in the trades, too.
Holy frozen Walt, they've brought back Supergoof? I must find this.
Anyone know how long Boom has the Disney license? Do they pay licensing for each title, or do they have some sort of partnership going on?
>>52899That's a good question. Wouldn't Disney want to hand it off to Marvel as soon as possible?
>>52834Boom is terrific and I really want a KP comic from them, but I gotta admit, I miss SG's flannel long-johns with the half-buttoned flap. Different era, I guess...
>>52903Not necessarily. By all reports, the Marvel/Disney relationship is one of financial convenience, with (what remains of) the Disney money machine backing Marvel up financially. In fact, after the buy-out, Disney created their OWN comics company to produce graphic novels of their live-action properties.Disney hasn't tried to influence Marvel creatively at all....Yet. But who knows how long that will last? They're not going to ignore an in-house comic publishing company forever, after all.
Man, some of these alternate covers don't look so great, and they turn THIS cover down. It's just so badass, with Donald just being all "Yeah, I know this technically defies the law of physics... what are YOU gonna do about it?"
>>52912>"Yeah, I know this technically defies the law of physics... what are YOU gonna do about it?"
I bought the Muppet Show comics for a while, which are really good. I keep wanting to get the Scrooge McDuck comics, but my LCS can never hold onto them for long enough. Plan on getting Darkwing, and I'm planning to follow the Incredibles in trade.
>>52925Might have to ask for a pull on those to have them come in.
>>52925The Gonzo issue was one of the best thing published last year.
>>52925Well, the last arc of Incredibles comes out as a trade towards the end of the month. Still waiting on issue 8 though.
Where did Mickey Mouse and Friends go, anyways?I thought they were just going to be taking a break during the month Wizards of Mickey 1 came out, but it's been several months now.Did they kill it off just before the big 300?
>>52964Good question. I'm hoping they bring it back with a translation of that House parody they did with Mickey in Italy.
>>52926Yeah, I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do for those.>>52928From the first Muppet Show mini? Yeah, that was pretty fantastic.>>52933Nice.Also, BOOM! seems to be the one company that seems to be doing everything right with their licensed material books. The Disney Kids stuff and Die Hard Year One are some of the finest licensed comics I've ever read. Put that on top of great original titles like Anchor and Irredeemable and I think I have my favorite smaller publisher in comics right now.
>>53006Yeah, they're like Dark Horse before they teamed The Terminator with Superman and Tarzan with Karl Jung.
They put the prologue to Ultraheroes up for free on Digicomics, so I got it just to see.And the script is a lot different when you compare it!Pretty interesting.
>>53016The thing that stood out to me was that they actually translated the switch where Boom didn't bother.Just an interesting observation.
>>52863I swear I have that exact comic from years ago around here somewhere.
I wish Disney would animate Wizards of Mickey. Would be perfect for that whole "reboot Mickey into a relevant character again" initiative. Also World to Come, because it's such a great sci-fi plot and Rhyming Man's a great villain.
>>53058>implying Disney would do something that cool
>>53070Well, they gotta fill those empty movie slots after Pooh with something seeing as Snow Queen's shelved and King of the Elves is either being reworked or canceled.
>>53071Oh, they've got plans, don't you worry...
>>53073Really starting to hate that guy and his mindless shit creations.
>>53073Was referring to animated movies. And besides, Disney's too busy exploiting Camp Rock and the Jonas Brothers now.
Just for the hell of it, any Disney properties you guys are hoping Boom! picks up? I've already mentioned my hopes for Gargoyles, Kim Possible, and Fillmore, plus hopes that the Darkwing mini leads to an ongoing.
Anyone else reading this arc find it weird Silvy looks like a regular human, yet the rest of the royal family is dog-nosed?Is she adopted?
>>53134Not so much a "property" per se, but I'd love to see an official translation of PKNA.
>>53240It would be cool.Maybe put it in Donald Duck and Friends after DoubleDuck is over.
Preview (relatively spoiler-free) of Darkwing Duck #2:http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/04/13/exclusive-preview-darkwing-duck-the-duck-knight-returns-2/
>>52846>>53260You have no idea how happy this makes me.
>>53260>>52846If there's a God, we will see new Rescue Rangers comics soon.Oh, if there's a REALLY NICE God, a full-size reprint of the entire Legend of the Chaos God series from Disney Adventures.
>>53284Well, they're already testing the waters for bringing Ducktales back (by translating a European story), so either Rescue Rangers or Talespin would be most likely for their next Nostalgia-bomb title. Can't imagine a bunch of people out there clamoring for Bonkers and the Gummi Bears to get a book.I love how Goliath looks in this picture. "Animal-people? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS"
Bumping for the greatest promotional stunt EVER.http://twitter.com/TheRealDarkwinghttp://twitter.com/negsyhttp://twitter.com/ReggieBushrootHighlight: Negaduck telling some fancharacter to "Make me a sandwich, woman."
>>54656Pfft HA HA HA HA HA!!!! Need some PapaBear, KCloud and whatever Handle Rebbecca would have, probably just be Higher for Hire twitter with her putting up the shipping rates and whatever crazy promo scheme she had brewing that week.
>I just discovered that "Darkwing slash" does not involve any cool knives, or a sliced Darkwing. I need to go pour bleach in my eyes now.>34 minutes ago via web
>>54678Heh heh heh
http://twitter.com/Gizmoduck00http://twitter.com/TheRealMcQuackFrankly, I'm beginning to doubt the authenticity of these twitters.
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/darkwing-duck-silvani-boom-100423.html>If the TV show's Quackerjack was a Cesar Romero, Ian's Quackerjack is definitely a Heath Ledger. Except without all the scars and knives and stuff.Interesting.
>>55374as long as they stay authentic and don't break character then I don't care
Oh, it looks like Disney's Website actually does have a bit of comic stuff on their site.At least they have comic creators for Wizards of Mickey, Ultraheroes and DoubleDuck. For a while I thought their website just wasn't saying much about the comics.
So, Wednesday we get return of Mirage AND Bomb Voyage
>>55612If this will be an Elastigirl-heavy arc, consider me in.
>>55614Yep and from the looks of the preview, it's basically "The Buddy cop/superhero adventures of Mirage and Elastigirl"
>>54656>>55374Disney rules for this.
>>55612and another wave of Mirage and Helen porn to soon follow
Looks like World To Come will be followed by another story by CastyYay, wrap-around covers!
>>55630That would imply a lot of people actually read this series. Only reason a good chunk of that Mezmerella fanart exists is that I was the one requesting it in drawthreads.
>>55652...How much of it actually exists?
>>55653Six or seven pieces. No 34.
Fuck yes, they're using Xerek from the old drafts of the movie for the villain of the new Incredibles arc.And he's Helen's ex-boyfriend

>>56350okay this is getting ludicrous. Still enjoying the everliving fuck out of it but its still ludicrous.
>>56350"Because I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the awkward goodbye that goes on far too long!"GIGGLE
>>56362No, it isn't ludicrous until they create one promoting a comic that they aren't currently making.OH WAIT.http://twitter.com/Demona_Gargoyle
>>56425Yea, hopes that they'll actually start putting out the Gargoyle comic on an actual regular basis? Course Broadway would have an interesting twitter focused around Movie Reviews, Food and telling what him and his Girlfriend have been up to.
>>56436Boom picking up the Gargoyles comic now that SLG's kinda bailed from doing Disney stuff would be great.
I love it when I can get good reactions out of these comics.
God damn it, I hate that I can't get these comics in my own country. I don't mind the price (much) but it's the wait that drives me nuts. I paid for Mickey Mouse & Friends #299 almost a month ago, and still nothing!
>>56847Aaaaaand a day later I finally get the damn comics. Polite sage, IGNORE ME, etc.
Has the third Incredibles trade been released yet? My store keeps saying they never got any.
>>57299I based that "End of April" date on TFAW. Not the most reliable source looking at things now.Amazon points towards an early June release.
I see what you did there guys...
>>58759
>>58752>Those fishes.Iseewhatyoudidthere.jpg
>>58752>>58759>>58760Well now
Between the last issue and the preview stuff, I'm thinking this arc's gonna be the most entertaining just for Helen and Mirage's bickering.
>>58773Damn, they need some 34
I'm likin' the book, I'm just incredibly (HAH) tired of blank expressions and wide dead-fish eyes. The worst amateur at dA could put more appropriate emotion into these mugs.
>>58780Yeah, the art looks better when Takara's not doing it.
>>58793cripes that is pretty physical..I may have to read this
>>58780I think the artist is trying to faithfully reproduce them from character sheets or something. This would not be that hard to do.
>>58759>>58760
MEanwhile in the Wall-E comic...
>>58817Well THIS is going to end up being super fucking depressing isn't it?
>>53016the Digicomics have a more direct translation, while the Boom! ones have a more "liberal" translation(Bad 7 is the original name, BTW. It was supposed to be a cheesy name, even in Italian)
Huh. It seems the fan response from just the idea of a Darkwing Duck comic has been so great, Boom has decided to just go ahead with an ongoing series.
>>59228FUCK YEAH
>>59228guess we can expect the twitters to remain active
>>58759>>58760God bless /draw/
Bumping. Darkwing Duck's first issue was really good.
>>63490And it does have a unique C cover after all!
>>63491Fuck. Okay, where's my wallet, I need to buy thing now.
>>63491The BOOM! shipment is running late at the comics store nearest me.
FUCK. YES. DARKWING. DUCK. Holy shit that was awesome. Got the Incredibles trade with Mesmerelda, shit was pretty cash.>>63491OH HELLS YEAH!
Oh yeah, almost forgot!Found this in Boom Comics twitter.YES
