Boom's done in one year what Gemstone couldn't do in ten: make Disney comics relevant again. Following The Incredibles closely, and I'm thinking of getting into the others. Definitely going to pick up Darkwing Duck when it comes out, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good Kim Possible or Gargoyles comic.

Fillmore too, but I already know that'll never happen.

That comic ended because the licensing fees got too expensive for SLG, along with the other Disney properties they did, though they at least were able to release all the unreleased material into trade paperback collections.
There are two trades of the Gargoyles comic, along with it's spinoff Bad Guys, and they just put out a new Haunted Mansion one with the two issues not in the hardcover and the stuff that Disney Press paperback omitted.

Anyways, I like them.
It's not exactly flying off the shelves here, though.
I finally found a place with some near here though, so I hope to follow a bit more closely now.
Fortunately, I picked up the first Wizards of Mickey trade, so I'm more or less caught up on that.
Is there an Ultraheroes TPB yet?

As an aside, I like that the newer issues are supplementing their longer stories with shorter ones.
Especially Hero Squad because their short stories are the origin stories of the heroes.
It works much better than just trying to explain it in editor's notes.
Makes me wonder if they'll be in the trades, too.

Anyone know how long Boom has the Disney license? Do they pay licensing for each title, or do they have some sort of partnership going on?

Not necessarily. By all reports, the Marvel/Disney relationship is one of financial convenience, with (what remains of) the Disney money machine backing Marvel up financially. In fact, after the buy-out, Disney created their OWN comics company to produce graphic novels of their live-action properties.

Disney hasn't tried to influence Marvel creatively at all.
...Yet. But who knows how long that will last? They're not going to ignore an in-house comic publishing company forever, after all.

Man, some of these alternate covers don't look so great, and they turn THIS cover down. It's just so badass, with Donald just being all "Yeah, I know this technically defies the law of physics... what are YOU gonna do about it?"

I bought the Muppet Show comics for a while, which are really good. I keep wanting to get the Scrooge McDuck comics, but my LCS can never hold onto them for long enough. Plan on getting Darkwing, and I'm planning to follow the Incredibles in trade.

Also, BOOM! seems to be the one company that seems to be doing everything right with their licensed material books. The Disney Kids stuff and Die Hard Year One are some of the finest licensed comics I've ever read. Put that on top of great original titles like Anchor and Irredeemable and I think I have my favorite smaller publisher in comics right now.
