Just because he formally decides to start preparing for his showdown with Shanks doesn't mean Shanks will magically fall out of the sky in the middle of Punk Hazard for a fight next chapter. Besides, like Law said, this is all about "preparing" and setting the stage right now. You cannot go up against an Emperor like it's nothing; you need to know what you're doing and this needs time to prepare oneself. These people have entire armies behind them, Luffy will need more than luck and two years training to take down Shanks.

If it IS Shanks do you not think Luffy is just going to do it to meet up with Shanks again? I can't honestly see Luffy fighting Shanks with intent to kill.

I hold the theory that Luffy is simply using Law. He's playing along for his crew's sake and everyone he's protecting on the island. It might seem out of character for Luffy to have any sort if tact but he is two years wiser. The death of your brother can do that as well.

Can you bring up some of these instances? I've looked up the first chapter and luffy just stated that he wanted a crew as powerful as shanks and to get his hands on the one piece. Shanks also wanted his hat back once he had become "great pirate" as the promise, which to luffy would entail accomplishing his goals beforehand.

But the question to ask here would be what law would gain from "taking down" shanks? Shanks is probably the only altruistic and benevolent emperor who tries to keep things in check from what we've seen with ending the war, keeping kaidou at bay and warning whitebeard of blackbeard. Things would hit the fan way faster without him.

but there is the theory of a betrayal that would result in Law vs luffy. so who knows?!

I think it's just been a long while since Sanji's had a good moment. Every time the cards are down, Sanji shines. And in calmer moments, he's actually pretty great. Fishman Island's just been crazy, but he's been pretty good in Punk Hazard. I mean, throwing a tantrum may not be a good character trait, but it sure is Sanji and it sure is great to see.

My favorite scene was Usopp explaining to law how absolutely fucked he was for deciding to team up with Luffy. Good chapter. I've been digging this arc, and actually excited to see what'll happen next. First time in a long time... probably since Pre-Water 7.
