This one is the most attractive of all the companions, for me, but I feel like she's too bubbly, too much like the doctor. It's just too much of the same thing.

but it reminds me of me and one of my mutually sapiophile friends who get off on banter and figuring something out in clever and thoughtful ways

but the dynamic between the two is new. it's rare to have someone challenging him the same way. it's not quite the same as river song, who is brilliant in her own right. river always seems so experienced. clara is still new to this whole traveling thing. at least for now, with clara still brash and otherwise inexperienced i'm liking this lead-follow/follow-lead dynamic.

>she's not a Daalek all the time

Moffat fucked up a chance at comedy gold and a shot at satisfying the copyright contract, all at once.

Fuck him, and fuck his dog and pony show.

If you're going to center an episode around a young girl who sings a lot you really should take the effort to find a little girl who can both act and sign reasonably well.

Which they did. So that was surprisingly nice.

Though the weight she puts on it "unlived days possible yadda yadda" Put so much to it, though I still think she might be a Tardis and so trying to eat what a Tardis considers to be history would likely kill anything.

Hey guys. Season 4 fan here, I peaced out after 5. Is the recipe for the Moffat-run episodes still

>The Doctor acts like a jerk
>"Every Star, Every Planet" plays
>The Doctor makes a speech
>Everything is fixed, there are zero consequences to anything

Well?

Have they stopped doing that yet?

Also, has the Doctor stopped being some sort of weird metaphor for pedophiles yet? I really want to start watching the show again.

That's actually gotten worse in Moffat episodes, I suggest waiting for the Gaiman episode and any episode not written by Moffat.

Hey Clara had a nice bit closer to how a person would actually act had they seen the bookends of existence than the last handful of companions.

That was just metaphor. With the intrinsic empathic value bestowed to the item, the perception of it being the most important leaf in all of human history, and it's attachment to the singularity that is Clara being repeated over and over and over.

Add to that the possible reveal that the sun wasn't full but poisoned by whatever strange entropy feels the need to crank out Claras like cheeseburgers.

I really want to like Jenny and Vastra. And I can buy Jenny being good with a sword. "Shove the pointy bit at the other person" and all that.

But the waif-fu scene was cringeworthy.

All she did was flip two of them and elbow one in the throat before the doctor grabbed her and they ran, it really wasn't anything egregious.

For the longest time, I thought I hated Doctor Who. Every episode I saw seemed like a big pile of poorly written, poorly characterized, wibbly wobbly timey wimey bullshit. The one that stands out in particular is "Blink." It was advertised to me as scary, and...it wasn't. Like, it established the angels as SCARY and THREATENING and DON'T BLINK OR YOU'RE DEAD, and the idea of these things that only move when you're not looking and can move so fast is SO CREEPY and it has SUCH POTENTIAL, and then it completely bent over backwards to defang them. "Oh, don't worry, they just send you back in time! Look! Everyone this happens to goes on to live a long happy life!" Also, all the female characters seemed insipid and dull. That one girl literally married the first person she met in the past after he refused to stop following her, which is damn creepy. And what was the deal with that montage of statues at the end that were clearly not angels? They just spent forty minutes showing me weeping angel after weeping angel. I know what they look like. That would be like ending Silent Hill 2 with a montage of Egyptian and South American pyramids.

Just recently I realized that I've only seen episodes written by Moffat. Do y'all think this might have something to do with it? Should I give 9 a try before I write off the whole series?

So, did anyone else notice the lack of 8 in the Clara montages? If they hadn't mentioned her seeing all 11, I'd be inclined to speculate that Hurt is meant to be playing an Old Paul McGann, fresh off his decision to pull a temporal genocide.

... But I still think he's meant to be an updated version of the Valeyard.

We do see Eight very briefly, he runs past her towards the end of the episode when she's in the mist.

It's not exactly the same, but it does look incredibly similar to his newer costume. I would pay ten trillion diamonds to Moffat if he turns out to be an old Eight, especially if McGann gets to actually make an appearance.

I respect your decision to enjoy it but I think Moffy has effectively turned the show into something it was never meant to be. It's very flashy now, very focused on being "clever" and all the pro-human, romanticism aspects are completely gone. Granted, it's now a very profitable franchise, but I think the show has lost its heart and I really don't think it's ever going to get it back, even after Stephen leaves.

Oh well.

Word is Wheaton knows who 12th Doctor will be. Bit too much crap going around from that "Doctor Who is Racist" article to get a good read on the next bunch of candidates other than the group pushing for a black doctor. Personally for that I'd want Mos Def going in that direction but zero chance in hell them being cultural as well as color blind.
