Tiny mining town turned big-ass robot city nearly overnight. The rest of the country is probably still using wagons and oxen.

They mentioned a train and a steam engine was the first thing that came to mind. I'm guessing they have a sort of FMA thing going on where everything is colonial but they still have these super advanced robotics for no reason.

I've been trying to listen to dubstep. It's so incredibly bland and I don't know why these kids swear by it.

Well okay they're kids and they have access to mommy and daddys drugs, but other than that, most of it sounds like something from the inside of a tricked out ricer where you can't hear anything except the speakers which are so large that any performance upgrades to the car seem negligible.

There is a good dubstep. Trust me, I was proven wrong by a friend when I claimed it was all awful. But see, what the kids are listening to is just awful remixes of shitty techno beats and that's what you know as dubstep.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm just defending the good part of the genre. It's MOSTLY awful shit that shouldn't be bothered with.

They kind of balance each other out in my opinion. Here Comes The Arm has a slow opening, while Sons of Fate has a slow exit(although I guess a slow exit is incredibly fitting for it).

To get a bit broader, Act I or Act II?
All my friends prefer II, but I'm a firm believer than Act I is miles ahead of II for the most part.
>> No. 25252
>>25220
I prefer II for it's variety. Act I is good, but it sounds kinda samey throughout.
>> No. 25272
I find myself going back to Act I way more than Act II. Act II is good, but there's a lot of instrumental dead space on the album.

But this is related to the way I listen to music. I'm not really the kind of person who just sits down to listen to one or two of my favorite songs. I like to stick an entire album on and listen to as much of it as I can. And the places I'm mostly likely to listen to music are walking about or driving.

So if I'm driving, I'd rather listen to an album that has a lot of discrete songs with readily available content, which fits Act I more. Act II has a lot of spaces in it that you really need the liner notes to understand, and it doesn't make for good casual listening.

Also I'm kind of a sucker for the really dirty sound of Act I. "Hope Rides Alone" trips a bunch of my triggers; the radio announcer intro with the "man against world/unexpected revenge" theme with that pulsing, jagged background rhythm blows my mind every time.

Act II. Despite my previously mentioned love of Sons of Fate, I am of the opinion that the Breaking Out - Keep Quiet - Light Up the Night trio is probably the best music the Protomen have ever made, and Breaking Out is very easily my favorite song of all time. I hate to be one of "those people" who goes "oh god you have to see it live," but ... yeah you do. Just because it really drives home this whole idea that that steady drum beat in the background of all three songs is Joe's heartbeat. Not only that, the whole "Sometimes I just wanna drive until the streets run out" bit will never stop being amazing. The first time I heard it, I nearly cried.

Also, Act II has the motherfucking Hounds, which helps.
>> No. 25286
Act II has better music, but it's harder to piece together the whole story based on just the song lyrics, whereas Act I was pretty straightforward in that regard.
>> No. 25288

The world needs more of this.

Also I just realized I don't have a picture of my autographed Joe helmet on this computer. Sad faces.

Had an idea for that.

Goes like this:

Wily tries to one up Light by making a better Mega Man/Proto Man via Bass. (My Forte)

Sentience unfortunately comes with it, and while a lethal enforcer, and arrogant in his superiority, he comes to realize how alone he is as his uniqueness also isolates him from the cold, thoughtless automatons that populate Wily's army. (Above the Line)

Bass chances upon a broken, destitute Light. He then demands that Thomas build him a companion, an equal, with which to fight the coldness of his existence ala Frankenstein (the Bride demand from the original story). (Gold and Blue)

Light complies by creating Roll, who Bass excitedly brings to his quarters in the innermost chambers of Wily's castle. He realizes too late, his elation blinding his senses, that Light has installed a veritable nuke in this beautiful creature. Bass knows that he can disable it by destroying Roll right then and there, but her innocence and warm demeanor stop him. They tenderly embrace as the bomb detonates, destroying the castle and Wily too. (A Trick of the Light)

Light admires his handiwork from the distance, unsure of what to feel when Rock comes into the picture. He expresses distaste in what Light did, going so far as to say that since the people did nothing to get rid of Wily on their own, then history is doomed to repeat itself. Light is too broken and tired to care, telling a departing Rock that he now knows what it feels like to lose a brother. (Ashes to Dust)

The album closes with a heavily damaged Bass, wandering the earth. He muses that Wily built him a little too well and is bitter of having survived and outlived Roll. Though ostensibly going on to find one final battle to end his life (preferably against Mega Man), he takes comfort in the fact that for one, brief, priceless moment in time, he knew what it felt like to love and be loved. Memories of which he will continue to cherish and recall till his final hour. (Roll Credits)

That's my idea, just putting it out there.

Unfortunately, one of the Protomen has expressed a heavy dislike for the character, so we might not see him in any future albums.

WARNING: FANWANK INCOMING

Personally, I think that The singer is Roll, who in this case isn't a robot, but Joe's daughter (her mother being the girl Joe kissed-although she was apparently ignoring him the whole evening, there's nothing saying they didn't have a prior relationship beforehand. Hell, it might explain why she was ignoring him that evening. Roll's mother will (spurred by the massacre after 'the sons of fate') tell Roll of her father's heroic death to defy wily, inspiring her to go in search of light and megaman and perhaps form a resistance group to back him up. she may even don Protoman's old helmet like her father did the Sniper's.

I have no justification for this other than a)it would be a sly shout out to Legends, b)Light would probably be so emotionally drained that I don't think he has it in him to build another robot child to lose all over again c)it follows on from the origin of Joe in Act II and d)The three colours most associated with Roll (other than her hair) are Red, White and Green.

Feel free to pick this apart, just throwing it out there.

Make sure you look up the liner notes for the songs, though-there's a lot of story in there you might miss otherwise.
