This whole chapter's been a bit freaky for me because... holy shit that's my lab and my lab equipment. I'm not used to seeing that level of accuracy.

My guess, based on what I've seen happen to countless undergrads... She turned on the power, set it for direct current, turned the knob for the B-volts and either didn't have the perfect buffer/medium for the current to flow through, or else she turned the volts up too high without paying attention to the Amps. Things can overheat in seconds. One of the most common scientific accidents in the world. Blown fuse is the most common result, but depending on what you're running a current through, real nasty fires can definitely result. And she was running current through SCIENCE, so... yeah.

Its kind of silly being afraid that people will think you are a pervert for doing so, moreso than not doing it because you are afraid people will get very angry at you for creating "homosexual propaganda" or some such.

I believe he never actually said he wouldn't do it, just responded to questions on the subject with something to the effect of 'and how do you think that would make me look, an adult man drawing young girls making out for the internet' and everyone assumed that meant he wouldn't do it.

They should have a adventure with Kat and Paz and they venture into the depths of the under court and they have some exposition while they delve deeper looking for some Magitek like what her parents have built maybe uncover some of that crystal matrices that were said to have existed on their side in the past. Why should Annie get to have all the fun delving into the histories of the forest and court? Then they separate them since Paz is a worse influence on Kat than Annie since Paz makes Kat a lot more driven to discovery and accomplishment for some reason.

Yeah man, DC's much worse now that they've gotten rid of the guys that hate the characters, like Mark Waid, James Robinson, Paul Jenkins, not to mention the passing of well-known Hater Dwayne McDuffie...

The idea that "fans shouldn't write" has always struck me as particularly ridiculous. Sometimes it works out well, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes a creator that's iffy on other books does amazingly well on a book he was a fan of, sometimes a writer can thrive on titles they don't care much about then faceplant when they get their dream job. There's no hard and fast rules to this shit.

Yeah, but "face" was right. I'm the guy that translated it as "heart," but after I saw the other translation, I realized my mistake--I read "cara" as "cora," and even that would've been a weird way to say heart rather than "corazon."

that speech is kind of out of place considering she just entered and asked for Annie, but now it's the "very important" announcement segment of the program or something and we are getting served 2 copious pages of useless philosophy that is only there for the reader, not the characters. It ignore the actual history of the court and the character we are following to directly address to real life problem WE encounter. Guys, Rey's basically said that no one else in the Court is going to give a flying fuck and the only reason Annie might, and I repeat that, might not be so cool with it is because she was raised outside the Court.

But, I very seriously doubt that she gives a shit, and think that she's ran off for totally different reasons than anyone is stopping to consider. And anyone trying to poke holes in the validity or sincerity of Rey giving Kat some real talk can just sit down and shut up, because you're not even making sense with whatever it is you're complaining about. Kat's feeling unsure and has questions, so Rey's laying out some answers and perspective. It's as simple as that.

Rey can sometimes carry on when he gets talking, and says things in lengthy fashion. There's your explanation for taking forever to 'get to the point'. As for the need to say those things at all, maybe it seems trite from the perspective of a jaded reader who's heard this kind of thing in a dozen other stories, but it's not for the readers. It's for Kat.

He's talking about "the outside of teh court" as in "the real world of the reader". There was no reason to pull that analogy there except to address the issue to the reader. In Rey's case, the "romance" had every right to be shunned by society. Him complaining that humans don't understand and all of that is kinda shitty since he actually got off easy, all things considered.

Yes, he killed someone, and I don't think anyone's trying to excuse that fact.
