After a year or so of service, the old drawfag sticky has been archived and retired.
Here is a collection of drawfag pieces from as early as 2006: http://www.mediafire.com/?ezvvinqhmgz

And now, ITS, business as usual:

Graphics must be 300x300 in size, and either PNG or JPG format.

Error pages needing art:
"404", "401", "403", "Thread Archived", and "You're Banned!"

Characters to use:
Any characters can be used, but I'd like the majority of the graphics (50%+) to be of the winning mascots.

I've had this request fulfilled twice now, but the more variations on this I can get, the better.

I'm looking for someone to draw the character I play in my D&D 3.5 game. Here's his full description:

He's a 4'5" Dwarf. His hair is black and he has a double braided (meaning two separate braids) black beard. His left eye has been replaced by the eye of a white dragon. (I just found out last game session that the eye is actually sentient and is chaotic evil). He wears banded mail armor (heavy armor), and wields a masterwork greataxe. (two handed weapon). His name is Efram Bronzeguard (and in case anyone is curious, the eye is a part of a white dragon called Sleeth the Orm). He is a chaotic good barbarian cleric of Kord. (I'm working on making him into an occult slayer.

His personality is what you'd expect from a choatic good dwarf. He drinks and he acts without thinking. In fact the reason he has the eye of Sleeth the Orm is because he found out that in order to make the magic work he had to cut out his own eye. So while the party was bickering about who should have it, he just stabbed out his eye and slammed the dragon's eye in while the party stood with looks of shock.

Feel free to draw him anyway you see fit. Maybe a shot of him in battle, or maybe just drunk at the bar? The more the merrier.

Pic related, it's the best pic so far.

I've been DrawThreadan anonymously over on /co/ for several months now, so I figure I ought to say hello here.

Some of my pics have been reposted here by /co/mrades, so I'm glad someone appreciates them. I have no webgallery for these pics, so the rest have likely been lost into the electronic ether.

To which end, I may dump some here that I like or find interesting. Or all of them, I dunno.

I've been 'coloring' (quotes used for a reason) for awhile now, and it's always just been "throw some color on line-art with a 'Darken Only' setting using GIMP". My only experience with shading has been a burn tool and radiant shifting with mediocre results. Rather than that, I just decided to focus on some basic shading for now so I can figure out lighting.... only problem is I have no idea where I should shade. I decided to start with this picture I colored and I shaded the underside of the leg which seemed to be the most obvious choice, but.. now I dunno where to add in shadows

I guess this isn't 'shading help' (yet) so much as 'how do I learn where I should use shadows on the picture'. I guess help with judging lighting? Or if it's not too much trouble, maybe make marks where you would shade and I'll try it..

Any help would be appreciated.... =)

You're pretty top-notch fucking rad at inking and cartooning in general though, so it all evens out.

But uh, yeah. people who decide they're just going to stagnate and draw like... same boring people in same boring poses with same boring mistakes over and over again are my pet peeve. I figure there's no point in drawing something and putting it on the internet if there's nothing interesting enough about it to make it worth looking at.

Thing is, I'll probably stop after a year or two. I'm only doing this to color pictures of the characters I like and help spread art of them around. Even if the characters I like are blacklisted from /co/'s artists and drawthreads , I can at least try to give the sketches color and such. Just doing my part to help, since I can't draw. Coloring is the only thing I can think of to help. I'm not really in this for the long haul... so five years of improvement isn't really on my plate. =P

Added s'more shadin' Haven't done highlights yet, or clean up the mess I made on the lines.

Heya /draw/!

I'm a bad artist. I don't draw nearly as much as I should; I'll go for months without drawing a single thing. Thus, all the knowledge I've learned in art class about anatomy, perspective, how cloth should hang, colors, etc. tends to degrade until I can't remember it very well. I'm attempting to build up a good drawing habit, so I've challenged myself to draw at least one character in my sketchbook, six days a week. This is my first week trying it out, so I was hoping you could give me some feedback on what I can improve on. If nothing else, you can tell me what to draw in upcoming weeks.

If anyone wants to redline a particular piece, let me know and I'll throw up the somewhat larger individual scanned drawing.

Okay! Now that I'm back near my scanner, let's try to get back in the swing of things.

Trying to follow >>28385's advice from last time and use curves in my shading to add mass. I'm sure it's something I'll have to practice a bit before it starts looking correct. I'm also thinking I might want to figure out a shortcut to shading black clothes because I nearly wanted to cut off my hands after how long it took me to shade in the black using my mechanical pencil. I'm attempting to try and avoid taking my pencil off the paper so often, but it's a very bad habit I've had most of my life, so it isn't going away easy (It might also explain why I'm so abysmal at inking).

Poses this go around are pretty meh. Each of the drawings I started with no real clear end goal in mind, so I think they suffered for it in that respect. I'm not sure what to do about posing except look at other drawings/pictures.

As always, critiques and requests are appreciated.

No.30272

You're making progress, keep it up. Just some general advice that comes to mind now, and I'll have a better squiz later.
The using-curves/shading-to-add-mass thing is something I learned from Art Attack (a British kid's show) when I was young. Dude got you to draw carrots and trees by using curved lines.

I don't draw with a mechanical pencil generally, so I can't relate. For large black areas I normally hold my pencil flat (if that makes sense) and shade like that.

One activity someone suggested to me was to draw a Pacman level, without rulers or any aid, at a slow and steady pace. That might be good practice to learn to keep your pencil on the paper- Though it's really more an exercise of control than it is an exercise of gesture drawing.

One last general tip that I've read about- And used to do constantly and still do occasionally, is to draw circles as a warm up. Just quickly go over a few circles of different sizes until your hand (well, rather your arm since you should be keeping your wrist stiff) feels limber enough.

5. Phalnax! Brings us his delightful dapper hats for colored chaps. I just can't stop giggling when I see his.

4. Doctor Girlfriend! drew Glamour with cocks in his mouth. It was pretty great.

3. Godless Communism!'s dapper chap with the spiked cod-piece, for a dystopian future year 2000.

2. Endpiece!'s piece was quite fantastic! His suggestion was not.

1. ANONYMOUS! Who drew a Pyro on a jet thingy! I like the jet thingy, and looking again it's mook from /dw/? Whatever! You had the best suggestion, and your drawing was pretty great! Good job!

So this week's theme is...
