I can't be the only one excited for the final book / movie coming out in August, right?
I'm looking forward to it, especially the final book. Can't wait to see how Scott's journey ends.
I'm probably gonna go back and read the first five volumes in the next few weeks leading up to the final volume, because I'm pretty fucking excited to see this end.
Kim better have a happy ending or i'll be so pissed.
I'm more excited for the final book than the movie. The first trailer had me pumped, but then I saw the extended one before Get Him to the Greek. I don't know if it was Michael Cera's acting (I typically like him) or the translation of the quirkiness of the books onto the big screen, that made me hesitant about how the movie will turn out.
>>63447Personally I found it was a really good translation from what I saw in the theatrical trailer. Also the idea of Micheal Cera as Scott is growing on me.
>>63451Yeah! When first hearing about Cera playing Scott...GOD NO. But now... maybe things will be ay oh kay
>>63457I think that was everyone's first impression.
If it wasn't Edgar Wright I'd assume it would suck. But Edgar Wright. As for the book, its been too long and I lost interest after the fourth volume.
This thing reads like an indie movie. I don't hate it yet.
Wait, wait, Isn't the book coming out in July? I pre-ordered it from Amazon, and it said it would ship mid-July.
>>63780Yeah, but the movie only follows the plot of first half of the books, then it goes off and does it's own thing. At least that's the story as I've heard it.
I just read all of what was available so far. I'm not big on the style because half of the characters look like the same person, but I like it because it's like No More Heroes: Toronto Edition.Part of me hopes that they location drop in the movie as much as they do in the books because Sneaky Dees is my homebar, but at the same time I hope they don't. Because Sneaky Dees is my homebar.
>>63793I'm pretty sure they've finished all the filming and whatnot considering it's coming out in two months.
>>63800Well obviously, but that has nothing t do with what I'm talking about. I just think if they show the bar in a big summer movie, it'll be even harder to find a table there for the rest of the season.
>>63793>No More Heroes Toronto Editionoh my godEverything makes sense now. Also it comes out late in the season, so it should be fine.I want to go to a midnight showing but I will probably A) be in Ottawa where I have no bros who are willing to go late night or B) Be in Toronto and celebrating super important family holiday. Also The Expendables comes out the same day so OH GOD DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE
>>63836FUCK WHAT?WHATTTTT?Well fuck that Expendables takes priority over everything forever.
>>63836OH FUCK.Yeah, will probably see Expendables first...and maybe only the Expendables as I rarely ever go to theaters nowadays...
>>63837>>63842Derp.
>>63846I knew when Expendable was coming out, I jut didn't know when Scott Pilgrim was out other than "August"
>>63831Ah, well I guess what I meant was "well it's done filming, so if they haven't already then the bar probably isn't appearing" but whatever.>>63846Eh, I'd still probably see SP first or probably just see the two in the same day. More excited for SP though.
I'm way more excited for Scott Pilgrim than Expendables, mainly because I have this sinking feeling that Expendables is going to suck hard and won't be 1/16 as awesome as we all hope/imagine it can be, and SP has Edgar Wright, which is pretty much a straight-up guarantee.
Considering the Expendables spent half their budget on star power, probably. One thing I hate is when you have too many actors trying to act over each other.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3180026Also....maaaan, I forgot Edgar Wright was doing this...
>>64403KICK ASSMIYAMOTO APPROVES
Clearly, the solution to the Expendables and/or Scott Pilgrim problem is simple: see one, wait around in theater with ticket stub, sneak into the other. Worked for Iron Man and Speed Racer. And TMNT and Grindhouse! Also: seriously you guys have no idea how fucking stoked i am for this movie i am about to go blind with WANT WANT WANT and it's not even fucking JULY yet. Ever trailer thus far had me giggling like an asshole. I NEED this movie.
>>64403>Director Edgar Wright has managed to secure permission to include music from The Legend of Zelda in the upcoming film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim, but only after showing the film to Shigeru Miyamoto himself.
>>64560But I want to throw money at both of them!I guess I'll just be going to two movies that weekend.
Probably going to see at least one opening night. Which one depends on who I go with.
http://www.scottpilgrimthemovie.com/avatarCreator/Avatar creator deal. (No, I couldn't change the rating)
I just finished book 1, about halfway done book 2.This shit.Is amazing.
Haven't read the series and never heard of it until I saw the trailer for the game, but I read the books are merely just a bunch of anime and game references to appease to nerds. Is it actually something more than that or is that about the sum of it?
>>64860It's a good series that happens to have a lot of little references.>>64785WHY CAN'T I STOP PLAYING WITH THIS THING
>>64860If you intend to ever read it, don't spoil it by researching it or asking around. It's best to read Volume 1 with no idea what you're in for. I hope they can preserve that when they make the movie.
>>64879read vol. 1 all the way through too.
>>64860I don't remember any anime references--but then, they'd have to be very broad and commonplace for me to catch them. I do remember the video game references. They aren't the usual side jokes and tidbits, tossed out to prove that the author grew up in the same culture as you--"Wow, college registration is like playing Berserk, ha-ha". They are oddly incorporated into the plot, and I think a reader would still get the point, even if they'd never seen a video game in their lives.
Just started reading it. I'm liking it a lot so far, and the Monkey Island reference in volume 2 made me smile.
How come I never heard of any of this before today?I've seen the game and the flash last week but I have no idea there was more!
I just came really hard to Knives and Kim making out. I'm a girl.Just thought yall should know.
Bump for vol. 6 in two days
>>75079Oh god. I had forgotten. Thank you for the reminder!
>>75079oh no i'll be in non-comic-access areasoh no
Its already out in Canada.
>>75102CANADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>75102AWW YEAH GURL
>>75102Cool. I'd be all kinds of FFFFFFF, except I'm probably going to the midnight release party at my LCS tomorrow night.
Going to the midnight release tomorrow with my bros. I'll be dressed as Stephen Stills, we'll have a Wallace, Scott, Romona, and maybe a Lucas Lee with us.
SOMEONE GET THIS SHIT ON THE INTERNET YA
>>75191Awesome>>65814Double awesome.
>No midnight premieres anywhere in Houston or even a good 150 miles of Houston.Goddamn, this city sucks.
>>64578My head axplod.
You guys will bump this thread when scans are out, right? Being that going onto 4chan for scans is asking for trouble.
Hey! Wallace kills Scott!
>>75512Hey! Rosebud is the sled
>>75513Hey! Verbal is Keyser Soze.
I asked the girl at the local bookstore if Scott Pilgrim 6 would be out tommorrow. She said they weren't scheduled to get it until the 30th... of August.
Read it twice fucking loved it.Now time to sleep
>>75530Go to a comic store then, you betrayer
>>75598I live in the middle of buttfuck nowhere in the midwest. The last comic book store we had here closed a year ago, and even then it had nothing newer than 2 year old Spiderman comics.
>>75607then use an online comic store
Read it last night after I got home; OH SHIT, YEAH! Goddamn was that awesome. Gonna read it again today before I review it.
I made sure I didn't go to any /co/ board until I read it, I got a bad copy at the midnight premiere and had to go back a few hours ago. I just read and it was awesome. When Scott was killed it was a real "HOLY DICKS!" moment for me. In fact, I briefly considered writing "HOLY DICKS!" in the two blank pages between him being stabbed and him going to what ever weird purgatory with ramona.
Scan link?
>>75833I'll give it to you, but I want you to know that your mother and I are very disappointed in you for being too cheap to buy it.http://rs375.rapidshare.com/files/408041590/Scott_Pilgrim_06_-_Scott_Pilgrim_s_Finest_Hour__2010___c2c___Minutemen-DTs_.cbz
>>75844I'm sorry ma and popLove youuuuuu
NOW ALL I NEED IS THE VIDEO GAME AND THE MOVIE.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
I loved it :'D
It was ok. A bit silly though.
Well, that about ties it up. Cliche ending, but goddamnit, I paid for that cliche and I love it just the way it is. Although I was disappointed not to see that weird-ass tentacle monster fucker from the Movie trailer, so I don't know what the hell THAT'S about.
I really enjoyed the book. As >>75944 said, the ending was a bit cliche but I still loved it. Also, Scott and Kim start a band again, but without StephenAnd I grinned a bit when I saw that Ramona had a shirt that says hipster..
I'm not entirely sure if there was deeper meaning to the story or not. That's not necessarily a bad thing I suppose. The ending was a bit too symbolic, though. I get what the writer was trying to convey, but it didn't really feel like it belonged with the rest of the story.
I enjoyed it.
You don't even realize how happy I am right now. This is actually a POSITIVE discussion on Scott Pilgrim, where nobody uses the phrase "hipster garbage". I got so pissed at that. Anyways, I could talk forever about my excitement for the movie/game, and how much I loved Volume 6, but I'll just say that Stephen Stills coming out of the closet made me fucking jizz
>>76205>This is actually a POSITIVE discussion on Scott Pilgrim, where nobody uses the phrase "hipster garbage". I got so pissed at that. Yeah, try to avoid 4chan's /co/ if you ever want to have rational discussion over... well, anything...
Okay...so for whatever reason, the download didn't work for me. IT WAS A SIGN. So I went and bought the book like a good person. I'm not saying I'm above anyone thought because I still tried to download that shit first. hahahahaI enjoyed the end. I just wish there was more Kim but it's probably just because she was my favorite character.I'm so pumped for the movie though. UGHHHand this last book made me like Knives so I'm happy
http://piggyliciouspigpen.blogspot.com/2010/07/scott-pilgrims-finest-hour-reviewening.html WHORING TIME: I put this up last night. And it's SPOILER FREE!I loved the shit out of this book>>76233Yeah, I love Kim, but I feel like she got all her great moments out of the way in volume 5, and this one really was supposed to finally resolve Scott's shit. Which I think it did well. It sorta felt rushed on the first read through (I think it's because I was so excited that I just blaster through it), but I flipped through certain parts a second time and it seemed to flow better.
>>76252I think that was a great review. And I agree with what you said about Kim resolving her story in Volume 5. There wasn't much left for her, say, relationship-wise. Except for Scott in Volume 6 for a bit.I used to really dislike Knives but now I love her. When she's not an obsessed psycho, she's actually just a sweet girl. And Envy isn't a complete bitch anymore!Spoiler'd for your safety~~~

http://io9.com/5594440/it-was-awesome-first-impressions-of-the-scott-pilgrim-vs-the-world"Not enough Kim Pine. I understand that all those backstories and subplots couldn't possibly make it into the movie, but couldn't Wright have found a way to better highlight Scott's friend Kim Pine? Sure, she gets some awesome one-liners, but she never looms particularly large in Scott Pilgrim's precious movie life. If there's anything that will leave fans feeling cold, it's the lack of Kim."Well, poop.
>>76387Thanks for posting that, it was an interesting read. I can't help but be curious about this part: "And the appearance of a certain character at the very end of the movie struck me as a well-intentioned attempt to include a significant idea from the book that ultimately left the final scenes slightly overstuffed." I heard a rumor that there's going to be no indication of Stephen Stills's sexuality at the end. But since that was quite a shock at the end of Volume 6, I wonder if that's what the article meant...
Just read it, thought it was kinda cool how the whole "Scott-lives-in-a-videogame" thing was really just his ADD... and later it was just Gideon.Could have tied things up better, definately. But it's a satisfying ending. So, yeah. Good times.
Reading through volumes 1-6. >>77272Whatever you say, buddy.
>>77276Yeah, I finished it all in one sitting actually. I just stopped updating here because my thoughts on IRC just got more and more scattered.
>>77330And... thoughts?
>>77336Not my thing. Especially the humor. I kept waiting for the second shoe to drop on most jokes, but it rarely did.
>>77346Told ya.
>>77361Eh, only took 4 hours. I don't regret reading it, especially with the movie coming.
You know, people tended to think that all the vegan stuff in the books was because O'Malley is vegan. He's not. The vegan shepherd's pie thing was just sort of an experiment in doing something you can't really do in a TV show or something, the way it's cut between the story that's going on, like stills is in the background saying all this stuff for no reason. And the reason being vegan gave Todd Ingram superpowers is making fun of vegans who act like they're so much better than you because they're vegans, and you can't just be vegan because it's so hard. He basically thought it would be funny is that smug self-satisfaction came with actual superpowers.
>>77415And you know this how...?
>>77430Because......>>77415 is actually Scott Pilgrim.
