Cam Jansen, The Boxcar Children, and Amelia Bedelia come to mind.

I remember getting a book from the library, based purely on the fact that most of the characters were had puns for names i.e. Sir Cumference, Sir Prise, that sort of thing.

It was a damn good read. Wish I could remember the title.
