A guy in my building is selling his hacked XBOX, which has a fuckmetricton of arcade games on it and the latest version of XBMC, for 120$Worth it y/n? I've been thinking of building my own XBMC for a while now anyway, but I'm computer dumb so I figure buying one pre-built would work out better.
Pfft just buy a bunch of xboxes for 20$ and soft mod them yourselfI did it to my old one, installed a tiny linux distro.... but like an idiot I erased all the emulators and arcade games so I can stash questionable porn on it
$120 is not a bad deal. Make sure it actually works, though.
>>885Yeah, I'm computer dumb. I can understand and follow the softmod instructions, but it takes eons of staring at said instructions until the words make sense, and I honestly won't have the time for months to do that. >>886He's going to demonstrate, I'm going to go and check it out tonight.
>>896I'm computer dumb too;_;
I'm computer illiterate with just enough information to make people angry with me when I say I don't know how to get them what they want or do what they're talking about. It's a precarious and embarrassing position. But anyhow. 120 for tons of arcade games sounds great. If it works.
Okay, checked it out, the arcades work and it's kinda awesome, I play Street Fighter 2 for ten minutes and nerded out. The dude had his apartment full of Xboxes so I think he mods them as a side income or whatever. Dude was the whitest guy ever and was weirded out that a girl was into this. In any case, the XBMC was exactly what I wanted, but he didn't know if the streaming worked, having not tried it himself, so I told him I had to sleep on it while I read up on my info. I'm probably going to pass, I don't really need a media center as things are right now, and if I sit on it I'll probably learn enough to build my own media center PC later on. (Plus I don't know anyone who's already done this, if I computer dumb and mess up, I'm fucked and out a wad of cash)Also I have nowhere to put something that big
MAME32+junker computer = better... because it's free. If you have an old PC laying around anyway.
Nice haul, Red!
Hhhmmm...I might just get an XBOX to do this.
you were right in passing up, $120 is a ripoff, especially with used hardware.
