Does a thread like this already exist?I have two things I'd like advice on, either way.1.) SoulSilver, first playthrough.Current team is Bayleef, Slowpoke, Furret, Flaaffy, Arbok, and Larvitar. I recently caught a Farfetch'd, and I'm interested in using him as more than a Fly slave. Should I replace someone with him, or train 7 Pokemon at once and interchange as desired?2.) Competitive metagame.I like making themed teams, as opposed to the "let's use the same 6 Pokemon as everyone else, with slight variants in the EV spread." A friend of mine just suggested a "cute" team. What cute Pokemon have you guys had positive experiences with? The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Clefable and Ambipom.Pic unrelated, probably.
CUTE TEAM DON'T MIND IF I DOThough it really all comes down to what you find cute. Some people probably don't find Mamoswine or Tangrowth cute the way Bones does. At any rate...I'm thinking Clefable, Ampharos, Altaria, Azumarill, Togekiss, and Leafeon, with no heavy-thinking involved at all. Maybe I'll put some actual thought into this later.
I'm going to be setting up a Steel team. Because steel is awesome. Scizor, Magnezone, Lucario, and Empoleon are on the team for sure but I'm wavering between the rest of the team. (Bronzong or Metagross? Both? Steelix? Skarmory? Should I break my personal legendary rule and go for Registeel? HELP PLZ)
>>11749Hmm...Not sure on the Leafeon or Togekiss, but Altaria and Azumarill, definitely.>>11770Metagross, Skarmory, open with Skarmory.
I think I'm actually gonna go with a desert themed team, but I'm not sure what all I want other than a Cacturne, Sandslash, Flygon, and Skarmory (because it's the closest we have to a buzzard)
>>11773Kangaskahn is based off a kangaroo, which is a desert animal if I recall correctly. Torterra looks like it could be an "oasis" type pokemon. Medicham only eats a berry a day, so it could probably adapt well to the low food of the desert. Camelrupt would be a perfect addition. Perhaps a ponyta, since deserts used to have wild horses. Drapion for scorpions.
>>11773 For the Egyptian cobra.
>>11774>>11778All of my love, I've got two six man teams now.
I really want to put a competent bug team together. Like tournament-worthy. The only ones that seem like a good idea are Scizor, Heracross, and Forretress, MAYBE Butterfree or Ninjask. People have suggested Shedninja and Shuckle but I've never used them before, are they any good?
>>11786 Shuckle is one of the best walls, if not THE best.
>>11787What type of bug IS Shuckle, by the way? I never got that.
>>11789 It's actually based on mold, which is a fungus. It's a Bug-type for the same reason Paras and Parasect are part Grass: Gamefreak isn't quite sure what to do with fungi.
>>11789The fellow who runs Bogleech has an article on the real-world inspirations for Pokemon, and it seems Shuckle may be based on Scale Insects.http://www.bogleech.com/pokemonzoo.html
>>11792>No mention of Breloom and the Parrot Waxcap.Blog, I am disappoint.
>>11786Ooh, I made a really fantastic Bug team once. Butterfree is fuckwin(I still try to implement it whenever possible, it never fails to impress the spectators), Shuckle is, as stated, THE wall, and Ninjask is great for passing a bunch of Speed onto Heracross.Protect/Substitute/Baton Pass/U-Turn or Giga Impact or Swords Dance(not so much recommending this one, Taunters are common as fuck now). Spam Protect, then Sub, then Protect if your Sub was broken, or Swords Dance if it wasn't, and so on. Try to Pass with a sub up if at all possible, Passing +4 Speed and +2 Attack to Heracross only to get hit with an Air Slash that you had no way to guard against is the shittiest thing.Yanmega is a good replacement for Ninjask/Butterfree, if you're opposed to Double Powders or Passing for any reason.
I want sun.And doubles, too, so I should use moves like Heat Wave.I'm thinking Cherrim, Leafeon, Arcanine and...?
>>11800Tangrowth, Exeggutor, and Jumpluff are all pretty good at abusing Chlorophyll, and just about any Rock-type really appreciate the added Water defense, while your Grass-types will appreciate the defense against Fire and the Rock-type will appreciate the defense against Grass that a Fire-type brings. Aggron and Rhyperior are solid choices; Sudowoodo would be an interesting one.
>>11802Ooh, Aggron sounds fun. It'd be great to have some Physical attackers to take advantage of the Flower Gift.
Darn it, now I can't choose.I want Leafeon's physical prowess and Leaf Guard, Roserade's special for SolarBeam and Weather Ball, Cherrim's Flower Gift, Aggron for support, Arcanine for his intimidates, Heat Wave and Monring Sun and Tangrowth for it's Power Whip and ChlorophyllActually, I thought there were more than that I was thinking of. That might work.
>>11804Except for the part where it's over half grass.
>>11805Water Sport could be good for that. Roserade learns it, along with a ton of Water-types.
>>11786Alright, so you want a bug team that will only get you laughed at minimally. First thing: do you want a literal bug-type only team? Antlions and scorpions also fit into what pokemon normally considers "bug," which would allow you to use Flygon, Gliscor, and Drapion. Having a bit of type variation will help you get less completely and utterly raped by stealth rock. Speaking of which, you'll need a rapid spinner to keep the rocks off at all times, which means that Forretress is pretty much going to be in every bug team you will ever make that you hope to actually win with. Scizor is pretty decent at scaring away ghosts (and also happens to be Scizor) so you want him in too. Now this leaves you with a disgusting weakness to fire (unless you use Flygon and Gliscor, in which case it's only a horrifying weakness). Unfortunately you can not do anything about this except cry and give up, and I'm not just saying that because I have run out of time and have to go.
Hey, this could work.Flower Gift also boosts Sp.Defence which Aggron likes.
How about a Dinosaur team?Meganium, Aerodactyl, Aggron, Tropius, Rampardos, Bastiodon.
taem advice? I have an "Africa" themed team. Luxray, Primeape, Donfan, Venusaur(why?) Feraligator and MarowakOver all, Luxray is good if he can get a hit in, everyone else sucks.
>>11869>African Team>No Jinx
>>11869Donphan seems more like an Indian elephant than an African. Hippowdon might be more appropriate.
>>11869 Girafarig, maybe?
>>11869Marowak is an absolute monster, but only...only...when at the receiving end of a Baton Pass chain. He NEEDS more Speed.Uhh...geez, too bad the new zebra and crocodile mons aren't available yet.
>>11874swap out Donphan for Hippowdon, Venusaur(who is more south american than anything) for Rhyperior.
Maybe Rhyperior is the way to go here.Or BOTH?
>>12216Rhyperior, Hippowdon, Luxray, Drifblim(wacky African mythology, I guess) Feraligatr, and Lucario(egypt)With Drifblim, I atleast can have him trick an enemy into holding an iron ball and then explode(destroying most of the hurr durr stealth rock strategies)
So I'm making a team of Pokemon that just kick ass at what they do.I have Forretress, Mamoswine, Weavile, Porygon-Z, Scizor, and Ludicolo.Having three Pokemon that are weak to fighting, and four that are weak to fire is really bringing my team down. I'd like to ditch one of the ice ones to kill two bird with one stone, but which? Mamoswine's moveset coverage saves the day all the time, but Weavile is just...so...fast...Any suggestions for which to replace, and with whom?
>>12272Replace Weavile with Aerodactyl?
I have an idea for a trolling team.Drifblim w/ Sticky Barb. He uses trick, then explodes. (This stops most stealth rock teams, so far)Lickilicky - Uses curse, then earthquake or explodes.Ninjask - Sword Dance and Baton Pass to...Farfetched - After being powered up, he is now a sweeper. don't know how to finish it up.
>>12299A Blissey or Togekiss with Charm and Softboiled/Roost.
>>12299Defensive Stantler.Thunder Wave/Confuse Ray/Attract/Stomp(flinch)Never fails to make people go "ok, like really?"So good.
>>12321Banette w/ Bright powder seems to be pissing a lot of people off with that moveset.
Ahh, Rhyperior gets crushed by Infernape's Grass Knot and then he just tears through everything else.An anti-fire Pokemon probably shouldn't be beaten by a fire type that easily!
>>12394Infernape is special that way.
>>12394YOU FACE THE WARRIOR APE AFLAME! IS IT ANY WONDER YOUR SOLDIER OF STONE FALTERED!
Well, maybe it works well enough. But now I need a Zapdos and I've already caught a Bashful one in Heart Gold ages ago.All that's left is the one roaming in Platinum.
So like this?
Or I use Aggron, but then I'm asking for Infernape to demolish me with Close Combat.I need something that can specifically counter Infernape!
Hey guys, what server do you use?
>>12406Aerodactyl. Careful of Focus Bands.>>12408Mysidia.
Ok, finally got off my ass and updated the damn thing.Oh. Oh god.Someone! Help me make a team! Please!
>>12506My advice is, pick one Pokemon you really like, and then build around it.
>>12507I'm trying that with my normal team. Luxray, Ninjask passes some speed and a sword dance...
This is sort of working.
>>12569What program is this?
>>12576Pokemon Online.http://pokemon-online.euCurrently, only the Windows version works, I think, so prepare for some Wine use if you run Linux/OSX.
This seemed like a cool idea in my head before GROUND TYPES. GROUND TYPES EVERYWHERE.
>>12673don don donnnn
>>12673You could try the kings instead. Nidoking, kingler, seaking, slowking, kingdra, slaking.
>>12673You could toss an Empoleon in there, but that doesn't really help the whole "crippling weakness to Grass Knot" thing.
>>12681The idea was that they're names have DON in them.>>12678>waterThey would murder the Dons.
>>12685But Empoleon IS a Don, so it's close enough, right?
What do I build around a Poliwrath?
Anyone want to help me test my team?PokéforiaThirteen.

>>13140I just need some help testing out my team. You want to help?
