where do they get the money to fund their voyages? I know Nami is in charge of the money and gives each one their allowance to buy things like food and stuff, so where do they get it from?I mean, they're not the typical raping-and-pillaging pirates here, so how do they do it?
Well, they stole gold from Skypeia, didn't they?
They do take things from thier enemies, and of course the people they help might be greatful enough to share a few things, and yes what they 'stole' from Skypeia.I can half remember examples of the crew coming into money but someone would have to read over it again to check.
Up until the Grand Line, they had Nami's money from Arlong. They had Alabastan gold up until Skypiea, then they had Skypiean gold up until Water 7, which Franky stole and ended up using to build Thousand Sunny. After Enies Lobby they immediately went to Thriller Bark, and at the end of that, Nami stole all of Perona's loot. That takes us to Shabondy and the present. Presumably any funds they have are still on the boat.
>>10579 I might be way off, but didn't she leave that Arlong money for the villagers? (yet stole all thier wallets)
>>10580You may be right. In which case the money they'd been living off of for East Blue to Alabasta was probably from Kaya. But I doubt they can really budget that well.
dunno man. Most of their funds come from booty from other pirates, but where to pirates generally get their money from. I doubt semi-bad pirates like jimbei and whitebeard and gold roger stole petty money from poor villagers. They probably rob alot of merchant ships, considering there's alot of trade needed in a world full of islands.
I REALLY like your thread image OP
When they run out of money they get more from their hearts. Also, Usopp's pal Sogeking will lend him money because he's a bro like that.
>>10681Hey Oda, how do you like our board so far?
Come to think of it, this would be a perfect question for us to send in to SBS. I'll take a crack at it if anyone wants to check my grammar here--my Japanese still needs a lot of work:西からおはよう、尾田先生! Which is supposed to say:>Good morning from the West, Oda-sensei!>I am sorry if my Japanese is poor. We are users from an English-language BBS, and we have a question.>Where do the Straw Hat Pirates get their money?>We saw them gain some after Arlong Park, Skypeia and Thriller Bark. But we think that they would need more. So where does it come from?>Thank you for One Piece. We look forward to your response,>-Anonymous Comrade
>>10701Now if only: a. I spoke Japanese b. My computer actually had the font to show Japanese characters. I'd include an English language version just in case there was someone he could have translate it. Plus, if I was getting a letter from a foreign country, getting a copy in the native language would be awesome.
HOLY JESUS THAT PICTUREyeah I have nothing to add to the conversation.
>>10701emphasize how much we enjoy reading one piece. seriously, i think Oda would get a kick to know he has tons of dedicated fans from all the way across the world.
>>10701This is an awesome idea, we should totally send it in.I agree with >>10736 . Everyone I've met from One Piece seemed utterly thrilled to find out the fanbase in America is as strong as it is. Emphasizing the point sounds like a good idea.
They own their boat, which doubles as their house. Boat is fuelled by wind. One of them's a cook. The other one is a doctor. They don't have major expenses.
>>10815>One of them's a cook. The other one is a doctor. The cook has to buy food, the doctor has to buy medecinal ingredients, and Nami and Robin usually have a dozen new outfits every arc. They have to have money from somewhere. We've already seen from Logue town that they buy all their stuff honestly.
>>10819Actually they get a lot of their food themselves. We've seen them fishing A LOT and they do have the orange trees. And it's not like with Sanji, they could waste food.
>>10822but I never see them eat the fishes they catch! they're always eating anime meat-on-a-bone! also, where would they get spices and everything else for cooking? they can't all be uninhabitated islands that just HAPPEN to have fresh vegetable gardens growing on them.
>>10829>where would they get spices and everything else for cooking?Spices don't take up that much space and last for a while if properly stored. A full spice rack can easily last a family for weeks.
>>10829Clearly One Piece takes place in an RPG, and by killing the fish they catch they earn gold and spices as random drops.
here's a question:Does Franky still have a penis after the blast from vegapunk's lab?
>>10947They pointed out in the new chapter he has no pants and no one is alarmed, so yeah, I guess so.
>>10947Better question: What if Franky has a supped up cyborg penis? Like when he was rebuilding his body he was just like "Well, I am enhancing everything, why not make my dick SUUUUUUUUPER too?"
>>10964I like this guy.
>>10967 >>10964 Hey! I want a Hydraulic (cola-powered) Penis too!
Nami hoards money and supplies, so their resources last much longer than they would with an average quartermaster. The food seems derived from a mixture of Nami's trees, fish, giant birds, and sea monsters. Sanji's ability to use every resource to its fullest without waste is probably what allows them to do so much with such a limited range of supplies, though I imagine he and Usopp stock up on spices whenever they dock.As for money, the Strawhats genuinely don't seem to spend much. Nami gives the crew allowances whenever they make port but for the most part they seem to live on their own means... meaning their funds can last them quite a while. It's not like they have major expenses when the crew take care of most vital functions themselves. East Blue was traversed using money from Kaya and what little Nami had stolen from Buggy, the Grand Line was traveled thanks to money from Vivi and the treasure "plundered" from Skypiea, which was later funneled into the Sunny, and finally the riches found on Thriller Bark.
>>10976>cola powered penis...M-Must...not...think about...
>>10986Now I know what's in Vanilla Coke.
