Most of the Supreme God Tiers can.

Texas was one at one point.

I live in SC. It's boring as hell. I actually live in the Aiken/Augusta area, so, right near the river, the SC/GA border. I prefer Augusta, GA to Aiken, SC. Even if it does have the boring ass Masters Tournament every year.

Well, technically they were, but only about 10% of the governing body of Texas actually wanted to stay independent. Most were trying to get the territory in the US since day 1.

At the moment it has arguably the best economy of all the states. It has Austin. Despite my own personal desire to annex Austin and DELETE DELETE DELETE the rest of the state, it's earned its place.

Why isn't New York in New York Tier?

No.276035
It's not so much that CA, TX and NY "deserve" to be in Supreme God Tier, but rather they're one of the few that can qualify for that status.

That said, CA is still the best and I long for the day it returns to its former glory.

Yes. Not that many. Most residents of Florida have emigrated there. It's full of old people, the gays, and Cubans. I am okay with all three. Old people stay inside and don't bug me, the gays have great techno music and beautiful curtains, and if I don't get a cuban burger sometime soon, heads will roll.

Yeah, I was just trying to make myself feel better because I'm in the upstate. There are some shining moments when I love it here, but after graduation, I'm upgrading to at least North Carolina. (I know, six of one, half dozen of the other. But Raleigh and Charlotte seem lovely.)

Yeah, not in the cities anyways. It's pretty cool. There's all sorts of neato people here. Though I can't find a decent mexican restaurant to SAVE MY LIFE and that makes no fucking sense

Iowa really needs to be in the Nice or Meh tier. I hated it when I was younger, but unless you get caught in a horrible snow storm it's a beautiful area with lots of nice people and a stress-free environment. If you're a social bug you might be SOL unless in one of the few large cities, but otherwise a great place to relax and retire.

>Yahweh
>God dammit it's not pronounced that way. In fact, you aren't even supposed to say that word at all. Fuck the ignorant bastards responsible for unleashing that abominable mispronunciation on humanity. Fuck them right in their empty skulls.

Itt: Sigma gets pissy about people who misuse hebrew.

No.276873
>>276868

Historic Greek documents claim that the appropriate pronunciation is Yahweh, and since the pronunciation was not maintained in Hebrew (even though it probably was through root words), that would technically be the only correct way to pronounce it today.

Also, Christians, Muslims, and the non-faithful are not bound to Jewish law, and thus, have every right to say it when they please.

Silly goose.

No.276876
>>276873
Historic greek documents are written in greek, and not the original hebrew. The pronunciation WAS maintained in hebrew, thank you very much, but we never, ever say the word because it's a stand in for one of the names of God.

Furthermore, if English speakers can get pissy about how non native speakers pronounce their language, I can get pissy about people mispronouncing hebrew.

No.276878
>>276876

Differences in pronunciation stem from the different ways people learn how to form sounds in their mouths.

Also

>Blanket statements about English speakers relations to non-native speakers

Sir I am offended. I have never seen hide nor hair of any English speaker knocking a foreigners ability to speak their language, people who speak french and spanish on the other hand.....

Say jalepeno or Quebec wrong and SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

And He is not just the Jewish God, people call him Allah and Jehovah and Yahwey and a million other personal names, relationships with God are often quite personal and open to personal interpretation and personalized titles.

No.276881

Fair enough. I simply get irritated by the use of that particular word. I'm not making any kind of claim to the deity in question, nor implying that any religion or individual has any more or less right to worship. I just, really, really hate that word and wish people would stop using it. There are so many better names for God, it makes me nuts that people insist on using a mispronunciation of a word that was never meant to be spoken in the first place.

No.276883
>>276880

Thats not even pronunciation, thats grammar and spelling. And we don't get mad, we're amused by it.

Anyways, I think its more disturbing that people still read the King James version of the bible than calling God by the 'wrong' name.

No.276884
>>276881

I see. I think that version only even sticks around because it sounds archaic and mystical and whatnot.

I usually try to take religious misunderstandings very lightly, since there has been so much misinformation and reinterpretation flying around for hundreds of years now. Keeps the blood pressure down.

No.276888
>>276884
Yeah, it's just everybody has those little things that bug them, you know? For me it's that and people typing "oi" when they mean "oy". I've got a whole rant on it.
