Damn, what a weird dream. Shouldn't have stayed up almost all the way reading those journals. Oh well, at least it ended right on time.

Mom:
"It must be tiring riding with out things in the moving truck. Well, this is Littleroot Town. How do you like it? This is our new home! And you get your own room! Let's go inside."

Mom:
"The mover's pokémon do all the work of moving us in and cleaning up after. This is so convenient! Your room is upstairs. Go check it out, dear!"

She's hyperactive as always.

Jethro:
"Sure thing!"

I just knew she is going run right behind me.

"It's nice."

Mom:
"Good! Everything's put away neatly! They finished moving everything in downstairs, too. Pokémon movers are so convenient! Oh, you should make sure that everything's all there on your desk."

Ah, the journals. I've been infatuated with Misty's and Roxy's tales of pokémon adventure almost since I could read. But today I am going to start my own!
"I just need to get my first pokémon... Local Lab's Professor, Birch, may have some on the giveaway, they always do."

Downstairs, Jethro's mother called him to see a program on the TV. It was an interview with his father, the leader of the Petalburg Gym. But by the time he came down it has already finished.
Remembering about Professor Birch too, she advised Jethro to pay him a visit and introduce himself.

Birchs' daughter:
"Um... I'm May. Glad to meet you! I... I have this dream of becoming friends with Pokémon all over the world. I... I heard about you, from my dad.. I was hoping you would be nice and that we could be friends. Oh, this is silly, isn't it?"

Jethro:
"Uh, yeah, just a bit. Anyway I hope we'll be friends too!"

May:
"Oh, no! I forgot! I was supposed to help Dad catch some wild Pokémon! Jethro, I'll catch you later!"

And so she run off.

Is everybody here that flighty, too? This is going to be hell of an effort to keep up with her.

Oh well, better go find the Professor.

Leaving the house, our hero heard furious barking and screams for help from the north of the town and hurried to see what was the trouble.

Girl:
"I want to go see what's going on, but I don't have any Pokémon... Can you go see what's happening for me?"

Jethro:
"Sure, already was going to."

Is that Prof. Birch there?

Birch:
"In my bag! There is a Poké Ball!"

Isn't that a chance to earn a pokémon for the start. Let's see what he's got there...

Probably some small ones, just perfect for starters...

"Oh wow! These look rare... And awesome."

Prof. Birch:
"Oh? Hi, you're Jethro! This is not the place to chat so let's go to my Lab, okay?"

Prof. Birch:
"I've heard so much about you from your father and mother. I have heard how eager you were to get yourself a pokémon. However in light of the recent developments in the region I was hesitant to give you one."

Jethro:
"What developments, Professor?"

Birch:
"Something stirred up the wild pokémon. They became more aggressive, they migrate everywhere... It would be too dangerous for a beginner. But..."

Birch:
"I guess you have your father's blood in your veins after all! I think you can make it even now. I'd like you to have the Pokémon you used earlier."

Milotic:
"Charlotte. It is a beautiful name. I thank you, master."

Jethro:
"You can talk?!"

Charlotte:
"Yes."

Birch:
"Yes, some do now. Now, listen..."

Jethro:
"I suppose, but..."

Birch:
"Great! May should be happy, too. She already had a Pokémon for some time, so she should teach you what it means to be a Trainer. Now off you go!"

"Great, he didn't even allow me to ask any questions."

Charlotte: "Oh, you will be fine, Master."

"Especially about you. What am I supposed to do with you now? You are fully sapient and talking, how can I just keep you in a ball and send out to fight now?"

Charlotte: "Master, it did not actually change anything. The companionship of human and pokémon remains the same. Do not trouble yourself with it and go find that May!"

"... Fine, if you say so. Now where could she be?"

"Well, that's unlucky. Looks like we will have to start figuring things out before we can even get to her."

Charlotte: "I am certain in my capabilities, Master."

"Who knows what lurks in there. Prof sounded really concerned. Welp, here goes!"

"Huh. That's not so bad. Though the little guy looks really furious."

Charlotte: "Indeed he does, Master. But as I have told you..."

Charlotte: "... he still does not pose a problem. This should beat some sense into him when he comes around."

Proceeding further, another encounter...

"What are fish doing on land?!"

Charlotte: "Ahem."

"Sorry."

"So what, we should just keep fighting out way through everything in our path? And that would help them eventually?"

Charlotte: "Indeed, Master. Unless we find somebody with enough clarity of mind to join us. Once you get more of these balls like the one I reside in."

"Oh yes, I will have to ask Prof for some. Or maybe they will be in shops in neighbouring towns..."

"Come on, THAT is what Professor was so worried about?"

Charlotte: "No, Master, that is the more likely reason for Professor's concerns."

"Err, should we run?"

Charlotte: "No."

Jethro: "Hi May. Professor said-"

May: "Oh, I see, my dad gave you a Pokémon as a gift."

Jethro: "Yes, and he said I should talk to you for advi-"

May: "Since we're here, let's have a quick battle! I'll give you a taste of what being a trainer is like."

Jethro: "This is SO not what he meant!"

Charlotte: "Who knows, Master, maybe he did."

Jethro: "So who did he give you? Must be somebody tough, he was really concerned about all the wild ones out here..."

Jethro: "One of those guys? Seriously? Not even somebody unique?

May: "All those in the wild are the ones that broke from the containment. And they learn to breath fire eventually!"

Jethro: "Oooh! I should get one on my side too."

Jethro: "But for now..."

Charlotte: "We hold the advantage!"

May: "I think I know why my dad has an eye out for you now. I mean, you just got that Pokémon, but she already likes you. You might be able to befriend any kind of Pokémon easily. Well, it's time to head back to the Lab!"

Jethro: "Hey, wait..."

"She didn't even let me say a word. Oh well, let's go."

Birch: "I heard you beat May on your first try. That's excellent! May's been helping me with my research for a long time. She has an extensive history as a Trainer already. Here, Jethro, I ordered this for my research, but I think you should have this Pokédex. May goes everywhere with it."

May: "Oh, Jethro! You got a Pokédex too! That's great! Just like me! I've got something for you, too!"

May: "It's fun if you can get a lot of Pokémon! I'm going to look all over the place for them!"

Birch: "Now, Jethro, listen. I want you to carry the Pokédex with you on your journey and record all the species you come across. Try to capture how many you can, they will help me with research to get to the bottom of those migrations. Also, I have heard strange reports from across the region, so I'm giving you this in case of emergency."

Birch: "This ball will capture any Pokémon without fail. Legendary Pokémon were seen across the region, even in swarms when there is supposed to be only one of each in the world. If you encounter them - use it. But only then. And now, properly equipped, you can start the Pokémon Adventure you dreamed of!"

Jethro: "Damn right! See you later!"

"Hi Mom!"

Mom: "Did you introduce yourself to Prof. Birch?"

Jethro: "I did and he even gave me a Pokémon."

Mom: "How nice! You look good together with Pokémon! Here, if you are going on adventure, wear these shoes! They'll put a zip in your step!"

Jethro: "Thanks!"

Mom: "Just be careful! If anything happens, come home! Now go on, go get them, honey!"

Jethro: "Bye Mom!"

"All right, time to get the show on the road. But first better find some teammates!"

Charlotte: "Yes, I would like some companions."

How this LP is going to work for catching:
Due to the fact that just catching the first met pokemon would mean also having to have a stop and wait for somebody to propose a name. Due to timezone differences that may be quite a long time.
As such, the system will be a bit different:
I will run through the route, note the available mons and then put it on pause. You guys then propose who to catch and how to name them. Pretty much the same as it went in the beginning due to lack of pokeballs, but on purpose.

This romhack is pretty basic: it is just a randomised encounter table. Hopefully it form amusing route populations. The slots on the zones correspond to normal slots, so the amount of species on the route is known.

Route 101 has Torchics, Huntails and maybe an unknown rarer one. Route 103 has Phanpys and Dragonites as normal rarity mons and Tyrogue as a rare.

Though not necessarily for every one. If a pokemon doesn't get a name, I'll probably just skip it.

Deciding to find a Torchic to rival May's Jethro set on his search.

However, instead of one, he found the 'rare' pokemon of the Route 101.

And now that he did have the means to accommodate new teammates, he did not let the opportunity go to waste.

Charlotte: "We are on a mission to investigate the disturbance in the world."

Jethro: "Oh, hey, path is clear. New towns, here we go."
