Aw, just as I was starting to warm up to Becky4nakama. Oh well, maybe next time.

Oda can't make female warriors. I wonder who is going to have to save her in the ring.

so this arcs ending with Queen Rebecca? Awesome

Ok, so before Doffy became king 10 years ago the Colosseum's fights were non-fatal duels. Kyros retired from this less dangerous Colosseum 20 years ago and vanished from everyone's memory exactly like a toy would. I'll go ahead and guess that Kyros is the Toy Soldier and King Riku (Becky's grandpa). The "single wound" that Kyros suffered was the loss of his leg, the same as the Toy Soldier. Ricky is Kyros's son and Becky's dad, and his little flashback a while ago was him apologizing for abandoning Scarlet and Becky for whatever reason. Maybe he was captured?

A lot of people thing Ricky is Kyros but I think they're wrong. The most important thing is that Kyros was forgotten like a toy, but unless the memory wipe is separate from being made into a toy it doesn't really add up. This also explains why Ricky looks younger than Kyros's 20 year old statue. It doesn't explain why Ricky is such a chump and why he blames his age for his loss, though.

Another neat detail is that all three of them use the same one sword/no shield fighting style (Toy Soldier used his rifle as a sword when training Becky, Becky drops her shield when she gets serious). This doesn't really mean anything but I thought it was a neat detail.

Sword and board would actually be an interesting change, its kind of lame that they go one-sword style, especially if they get referred to Samurai for fighting like I remember a non-Samurai being referred to in one of the previous rounds.

The "like a samurai" fighter was Ricky.

No, Zoro is just like a samurai.

Using one sword "like a samurai" makes no sense because the only samurai we know uses two. Fucking dropped.

Why did Zoro come back after the timeskip dressed more like a Samurai anyway? He was training under someone who's far more European in style and lives in NOT-Transylvania.

I mean NOT-Japan is an actual place in One Piece but Zoro's never interacted with it or anyone from there so it seems kind of weird.

Zoro's not dressed like a samurai. He just added a longcoat and a pirate sash to his old outfit. It even has buckles, see?

>Kyros is the Toy Soldier and King Riku (Becky's grandpa)
Was he also Sabo by any chance?

Anyway, pretty interesting chapter. For some reason I had it in my head that Doflamingo had come to the throne under less.. tumultuous circumstances, but I really don't know why now. Looks like he took it with a full fledged bloody revolution. Also looks like he, Trebol and Diamante go way back, too. I'm really interested to know more about those two and that other guy who occupies the Spade Seat. One of them must be the one turning people into toys.

>>31776
I don't see how that could be, since everyone hates her and her dead father. Not sure what he did to deserve so much hate, but I really hope he WAS a bad man. I hope he was a terrible king and Doflamingo took advantage of a solid opportunity to better the place in his own view. It would definitely add more depth than what Oda will most likely end up giving us. I'll be disappointed it it's just another "boo hoo poor innocent king Cobra/Neptune getting bullied by bad guys" and daughter becoming "princess-best-friend" #32 scenario.

If Rebecca had been transformed into a stone-cold killer by her experiences or such and not another weepy princess that would have been something different.

But I guess if she had been so stoic she wouldn't have approached Luffy and she wouldn't have been able to so quickly gain sympathy.

Anyway the Toy Soldier is a hella cool guy whoever he really is.

Yeah maybe her grandpa did a bunch of fucked up stuff and everyone hates her, but this is One Piece, bro. The likelihood of her doing something to prove herself in the eyes of the people of Dressrosa is super fucking high. Let's be realistic and just hope its fucking awesome and she ends up kicking ass in the coliseum.

haha yeah fuckin right not in this manga

Bartolomeo won't join. He's a bad man who eats people.

>>31788
The toys were in Dressrosa before doflamingo came to power though, so either the guy was forced into doflamingos crew later, or this has actually been a longer and more complicated operation than we know, which is what the dorfs were implying.
>> No. 31796
>>31794
Well, it's more plausible here then in most at least I guess.;_;
>> No. 31797

Barto does not eat people. Barto riles people up. His name should have been localized as Bartolomeo the Troll from the very start. It has the same connotations of "this guy is really awful" and breaks down into "oh wait this guy is just a huge jerk" the exact same way.

And were the toys there since before Doflamingo? I don't remember any evidence for that. In fact the earliest I can remember seeing a toy is in Rebecca's flashback, which was also the exact same moment Doflamingo arrived. I assume that the dwarves are talking about Doflamingo as a world noble when they talk about the ancient conflict, since it happened at around the time the void century happened. I mean I could be misremembering something but I don't think we've actually heard anything about pre-Doflamingo Dressrosa at all.
>> No. 31798
Rebecca could be mis-remembering the toy soldier tho. I mean, he could be her father but what we're seeing is unreliable narrator (aka altered memories) or some shit idk

Nope. It's already been stated that the whole toy fiasco began ten years ago. If you had to ask me, which no one has, my personal theory is that he's using the toys as laborers in his Smile factory underneath Dressrosa. Maybe their bodies are better suited for the conditions, and whoever is turning them into toys (the Spade person) is himself down there overseeing their progress. Those "scrap" chutes just lead down there.
Not sure what's up with the strict time curfew where no one is allowed out at night.

Or how did these people adjusted so quickly to living with toys and the strange disappearances of their loved ones.

Whatever turns them into toys also makes them forget. They forget that the people even existed.

DBZ (Not Dragonball, it was something that grew as the series changed over time) has many of the same problems people attribute to Bleach or Naruto, but because it came first and we read/watched it as kids we have a sense of nostalgia that makes us look back on it more kindly.

(I don't want to give the impression I'm an OP-fanboy, it too has its share of problems which are quite notable and I find rather displeasing, but it still manages to avoid for the most part the ones shared by the other three)
