After being abandoned by her producers and record label in 1994, she went into artistic depression and swore to never return to the mainstream... ish music scene again. Deborah went back to being a music teacher, but ended up recording again when her project (a report on american music during the Great Depression) demanded her to make some covers. Those covers ended up on a Country radio station, and the listeners LOVED it. Surprised that there is an audience for something other than "pop" (she still considered her work to be pop music), she decided to give it a second chance.

Has been making country-ish music ever since.

She may or may not jam with Stewart Motherfucking Copeland in the near future.

Another one I would like to plug: a Liverpoolian band called The Sums. Main singer and one of the main writers is from an old band I really liked, Cook Da' Books. Too bad they stopped existing in 1989. But this one is very good too:

I'm 100% sure none of you have ever heard of Tom Lips, given that he pretty much only exists within Ottawa.

The Sums are almost done with their new album. If any of you care about the (alternative) rock scene of UK, you can check it out soon.

Caro Emerald - Just One Danceyoutube thumb

>"Echoes of the dance halls in French occupied Saigon. Tension seeps underneath the parkay floors, where ladies wait as men peruse their potential partners from head to elegant toe.. Music leads to money, money leads to lust, and in Saigon, lust can lead to anything..."

I did the math, and a dollar during the French occupation ('46-54) was, on average, like $10.87 current dollars today.

If the lyrics mean a dollar a minute, that's one expensive escort.
