Let's have a Movie General, for those movies not necessarily worth their own thread.

Saw Cloud Atlas tonight. I wouldn't call it "great", but it was certainly a very interesting... something. Feels like one of those movies I need to see one or two more times to see if there was any subtleties I might have missed (YES WACHOWSKI BROTHERS THAT SURE IS A SHOOTING STAR BIRTHMARK).

Get to see some hot Asian ass and tits, though. Oh, and fucking yellow face everywhere. Hugo Weaving in Yellow Face. Tom Hanks in Yellow Face. Bae Doona in White Face.

Almost saw Wreck-It Ralph instead, I will wait for it to hit a $2 theater.

Ok. This is my recent all time favorite movie.

Robert Pattinson Is Happy Twilight Is Overyoutube thumb

Holy shit, Tumblr wasn't kidding when they said 'no one hates Twilight more than Robert Pattinson'.

Is it wrong that I kinda like Robert Pattison and think he's on his way to being a great actor?

I get that he did Twilight mostly for the exposure and money, and respect that. I even sympathize a little bit when he gets attacked by psychotic Twihard fans, because even by fan dementia standards, Twilight brings about the most savage in human life.

Can't really see what he sees in Kristen Stewart, unless she's a monsoon in bed, but hey, actors have small dating pools. I do think he has a lot of hidden talent squandered away in that vapid teen paranormal romance schlock, and i hope he gets a chance to shine later on like Heath Ledger and Joseph-Gordon Levitt.

So you hope he makes a Batman movie?

He's already starred in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis:
Cosmopolis (2012) - Official Trailer [HD]youtube thumb

More than a few Twihards came out of it feeling rather traumatised, which I suspect was Pattinson's intention when he took the gig.

I sympathize with him too, because I don't realize any of the commenters who were sneering "talk about biting the hand that feeds you" realize how creepy some Twilight fans are. Middle-aged moms with teenage daughters should NOT be hitting on someone the same age as their kids.

I always hoped the Disney/Nickelodeon stars would rebel in the same way. I don't know if Shia LeBouf counts, though.

Considering that the only movie he hasn't been "the goof" in was Eagle Eye (I think that was the name), I don't think he does. His career has lasted longer than most of the Disney/Nick teen stars, though.

Jewel Staite is one of the "rebels", I suppose. Played Catalina (the purple-haired girl with an invisible friend in another dimension) in Space Cases. Went on to star in FireFly and Stargate SG-1.

I wanted to watch A Scanner Darkly, but I'm really hoping it's nothing like Waking Life, which is by the same director, and I really did not like that movie. I did not understand it in the slightest and the art style keeps becoming more and more erratic.

>>35970
I didn't think he was totally goofy as the Transformers movies went on, but it's still in no way a serious role.

Will Friedle from "Boy Meets World" is doing well, he's a prominent voice actor. And the Jett Jackson guy is on Rizzoli and Isles. I don't know if I remember Jewel Staite.

Hey, there are plenty of us who are into that. MILFs and cougars, man.

I might rememeber her more because I have a raging hard-on for her. Kaylee in FireFly, Dr. Somethingorother in the second half of Stargate Atlantis. She had to gain weight for her role in Firefly, and I thought she was much cuter then, but she's still hot.

Understandable. It's just weird seeing a book written for younger girls, and then seeing their moms have a crush on the same guy that their daughter does. Or something.

I have all of that, plus when I was eleven I had a massive crush on her in Space Cases.

I remember watching her in Space Cases, but I don't recall if I felt any kind of attraction towards her or not. I don't think so, as my romantic interests bloomed pretty late.

I forgot that was a thing.

Django Unchained is amazing, but considering that I have loved every other Tarentino movie I've seen so far (Kill Bill 1 & 2, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds), perhaps I am biased. Everything is so goddamn perfect in the film, aside from a few minor nitpicks I've chosen to ignore.

>>36105
I've only seen her in Firefly, and I've unfortunately only seen the first....maybe five episodes and not Serenity.

Le Miserables was fantastic. But my brother got sick in the beginning.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was pretty damn good. I don't understand why a lot of the reviews are negative. Ok, maybe it's not totally faithful to the popular versions of Holmes, but the cast is great, the cinematography is great, and all the little details in the plot that come together at the end are brilliantly done.
>> No. 36241
>>36240
That's just the thing-- it (and in many regards, BBC's Sherlock) are almost entirely inspired by the books, not the other depictions of Holmes, many of which are inspired by each other and not the books. It's the same effect that Dracula and Frankenstein have had, adaption-wise.

interesting, could be bringing some old republic up in this. Delve into that fount of Jedi fighting forms literature.

Hmm. Given how the original Star Wars was based on a Kurosawa movie, I'd say it bodes pretty well to be basing Snyder's on one as well.

Finally saw Wreck-It Ralph. Very cute and charming, if predictable. One of the best non-Pixar animated films by Disney, but I might be swayed by the references in it.

However, I absolutely loved the short Paperman. A simple and nice story, wonderful artwork, funny. Some good stuff right now.

Hotel Transylvania is one of the more Animated CGI movies I've ever seen. And that credit sequence made me grin.

Overall he did well by plying the thing he does best into the film and that is animation intensity and motion. Think I saw a bit of Rubber Hose in some stuff, surprising seeing how most the time they lock stuff on to frames. That and Sandler behaving himself for the most part.
>> No. 36376

I asked myself if I'd still like Ralph if there were no real-world video game references in the film, and I told myself yes.

>>36373
Same here. I actually like Adam Sandler, but being that my only exposure to him is HT, 50 First Dates, and SNL, I'm not sure why people dislike him.
>> No. 36377
>>36376
Mainly Sandler gets heat for a couple films as of late that are just BAD and aren't much more than a payday for his friends, course if he wants to use the Hollywood system then fine and I don't know why people get in a twist over those films. But this film he was good being very emotive and had a good balance with the accent show you can identify it as Dracula but not to the point where the voice itself is comedic.
>> No. 36379
>>36376
His "comedy" act felt way too forced in a SNL and some of his movies for me, thats probably my reason. Heck, I can see why they made Dracula overtly dramatic in the movie because of the classics, but it looks like it got pushed a bit past the point, both by him and Tartatrartakovski.
>> No. 36382
So, just came back from The Last Stand (aka Accents: The Movie).
It had a lot of stuff from the current movies I hate (yellow filter, shaky camera all over, the way the blood/violence effects are presented) and... yeah I couldn't help but notice how older Schwarza looks compared to my favorite movies with him (;_;), but the second half of the movie was pretty fun. He can still kick ass.

Also, I'd never guess Forrest Whitaker could look taller than him.

Wish I could go see this movie but alas, it has Johnny Knoxville in it.

Anyway, I saw this recently, probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
>> No. 36385

I didn't know it was Knoxville until the end credits. To be fair, his part isn't half as bad as in MIB 2, but that would be hard.

Also, pity, I'd be down to give that movie a shot for Christopher Walken. Likely not in cinemas, though.
