So I heard Marvel and Toei were working in a new anime called "Marvel Disk Wars: Avengers".

Woah, the Wasp? Kind of an odd choice for the obligatory chick considering they probably only know of the Black Widow from the movies in Japanland.

Yeah, how dare Japan include a bunch of teenagers hanging out with the Avengers. It isn't like the Avengers were originally assembled by a bunch of teenagers or anything.
>> No. 85371

If these are new members in training or something, that would be fine. But I expect it to be like Transformers: Armada, where you have random kids running around just to be relate-able and McGuffins.

You know, I'd rather have something closer to that than all the SHIELD involvement in the movies.

I hope the teens turns out to be there secret id's just to see yah rage.

>Marvel and Toei

>An "anime" version of Avengers

This won't end well, the Japanese are always notorious for screwing up OUR properties. They don't understand American superheroes let alone the art of characterization. I mean, look what they did to Witchblade, Halo, and Mass Effect.

On the other hand, Japan understood far better than Marvel what needed to happen to the Spider-man franchise.

I would be okay with that. I'm not against alternate takes on existing properties. Gotham High might have been interesting. I am against shoe-horning in characters to give viewers an opportunity to "relate" or self-insert, especially when they're not relevant in any way except stumbling upon the titular character(s) and the titular character(s) somehow feeling "responsible".

Avengers in training? Some sort of internship for future SHIELD agents? Mysterious powers of unknown extent so the Avengers decide for some reason to keep them close to keep an eye on them? Okay.

Random teenagers hanging out in SHIELD HQ all the time because fuck it? Not okay.

Also "Disk Wars" makes me think of Megaman: Battle Network.

I'm willing to give it a chance. After all, Transformers Prime proved that it is possible to make "relatable kid" characters fit in well with the heroes of the story.

Then again, this is anime.

It'll all be worth it if for the fanart of Stark banging the redhead.

I seconded simply because I hate all the SHIELD involvement in the Avengers. That was more of an ultimates thing.

Also yeah, to this day I can't tell if they're an international anti-super-terrorists thing or u.s. government lapdogs.

After the Ultimate Universe existed, and after the Ultimate Universe writers started working on 616 material.

Honestly, I just don't like the Avengers just being SHIELD's Big Stick, and prefer them as something independent.

I never got Tumblr's borderline psychotic obsession with Tom Hiddleston. Sure, he's hell of a lot better looking than Benedict Cumberbatch, their other darling, but he's still just a 6/10 ordinary looker. And Loki isn't even all that interesting of a villain outside of shipping (which is 90% fanon anyway).
>> No. 85650
>>85648
I always thought it was similar to how guys obsess over characters like Azula
>> No. 85655

But she's a better villain than Loki and actually attractive[spoilerinb4 shitstorm[/spoiler]
>> No. 85656
>>85648
He's smooth and confident and occasionally funny in a dry way. These things are considered attractive by many women, enough so as to make the people who have those features be considered sexy as long as they are of at least mediocre physical attractiveness.

Him being a troubled bad boy who is "burdened by glorious purpose" makes it work even better for a lot of women. Thus, he is considered a sex symbol.
>> No. 85659
>>85656
But a lot of celebrities are like that, so why'd they fixate on him in particular? Is it because Avengers is a popular movie and Tumblr plebs latched onto it for being the next big thing? It might explain why Jeremy Renner also picked up such a big following even though he's rather below average in the looks department IMO.

Besides, Loki was really cliched and riddled with daddy issues. There are lots of characters like Dio Brando and so on from other popular franchises with similar issues, except pulled off way more interestingly or with more depth, yet I hardly see the same level of mad obsession or apologism from fans. If anything, a lot of times their fans even embrace it because it's what makes them so damn entertaining, instead of coming up with ridiculous excuses to brush it off until all that's left is a generic harmless moeshit. Maybe the shallowness of his character makes it that much easier for them to project or something... I dunno, little of that stuff is personally appealing to me in and of itself, so it all kind of baffles me.

>this is what guys actually tell themselves
Okay, ribbing aside,

>>85656
Yeah, being fangirl bait involves a lot of nebulous traits in presentation that surprisingly don't conflict with being funny-looking. To continue the Avatar analogy, just look at Zuko.
>> No. 85661
>>85659
I hope you realize the stupidly obvious logic of that first part. "Hmm, I wonder why character in a insanely mainstream and popular work available internationally has more fans than a character in a more obscure series?" Numbers, dude.
