Araki gets a chance to remake Phantom Blood (manga) like he's wanted to for some time.

Besides the art, what changes would you make to the story?

For example:

Would you have Speedwagon keep his razor bowler hat and use it against zombies? Would you give Jonathan the ability to DODGE? Would you have Dio be portrayed more sympathetically and less two-dimensionally evil?
>> No. 80468
The only thing I'd change is keeping the bowler.

I don't want Phantom Blood with faggier modern-Araki art...

Fuck no!

The only change I would make is fixing the plot hole with the coffin. Other than that, I wouldn't really change anything, except making Tarkus a little more sympathetic as well, other than just being a big evil guy. Then again, I liked his death.

I actually don't think Dio was two-dimensional at all in Phantom Blood. It's been a long time since I read it in scanlation, so maybe the fan translators lost some of the depth, but Dio was fundamentally a product if his upbringing. Dario Brando taught him greed, and ruthlessness, and not a trace of morality, and although he hated the old man like so many other victims of abuse he found himself replicating those same behaviors he abhorred. George Joestar could perhaps have corrected for some of this, but he badly misjudged the extent of Dio's damage and let him go nuts instead, thinking that a loving and caring home was all he needed.

Absolutely agreed, the part where he begins drinking and it comes as a disgusting surprise to even himself "This swill, why do I crave it so?"

I'm not Dio's biggest fan seeing as how he always has incredibly OP powers whenever the Jojos come into conflict with him, but this moment from Phantom Blood made me like him a bit:

Dude is woozy from alcohol and a man has just come back from the dead with pale skin, fangs and an immense hunger for his blood.

Instead of running, the fucker picks up a dagger and strikes a pose ready for battle.

Common sense aside, this showed that this dick had balls.

I just found out this show existed and I'm wondering is the comic just as crazy because if it is I might have to try it out. I've watched the older cartoons by they seemed to have a slightly different tone. are they from a later run or a different story? Also can I get the names of the opening and closing songs or a youtube link they kick ass.

The manga is crazier.

The old anime is based on a later point in the manga.

The comic up to the point depicted in the anime thus far is just as crazy as the anime, and it only gets crazier from here. The crazy is likewise going to ramp up considerably in the anime as well. Get on board the crazy train, it's going straight to your destination.

The OVA series (which is almost certainly what you're talking about) is based on Stardust Crusaders, which is the part after the part the anime is currently showing. The old guy from the old series is the same guy as is the current protagonist of the anime.

I'm not pointing any fingers, I'm not blaming anyone, and I'm not angry at anyone:

But why do you think Lisa Lisa never taught Jorge how to use the Ripple. I know that it's a bit of a luxury martial art since it's technically only for fighting zombies and vampires, but as shown by her, Joseph and Caesar, it's pretty effective against normal people too. Did it just never come up? Or did it go something like this,

Lisa Lisa: Dear, would you like to take a few minutes from sucking my snatch to learn this awesome martial art that can make you walk on water, turn everyday objects into ghoul-killing weapons and zap people into unconsciousness?

Jorge: Baby, I'm a fighter pilot, I don't think that'll do much for me in the air. Besides, I've got my military training to fall back on. Whoever heard of vampires on the battlefield?

Lisa Lisa: Yeah, you're right, as you wer-whoah-whoah-ooooohhhhh.

I thought it said in one of the volumes that he simply couldn't use the ripple. I might be mistaken due to how long it's been since I read it, though.

Maybe skills at airplanepiloting and skills at hamon are mutually exclusive. Which would explain why Joseph is so shit at flying planes.
