>>90409 You're right, you really are, and I do support people enjoying themselves in whatever strange ways seem best to them. Certainly there are plenty of people out there who'd find what I like in any given fandom to be strange and horrifying. And you can just avoid what you don't like in a particular fandom.
I dunno. It's just disappointing, is all, whenever some fandom you once were sort of into spirals out on some weird tangent, and from then on that's all you ever see (all 12039281 fanon versions of Onceler come to mind, no offense to anyone who likes them of course), or latches on to some fixed idea or joke and runs it into the ground and keeps digging (if I see one more Fassbender looks like a shark joke...dammit, xmen first class fandom). Or when a series you like gets an insufferable fandom following, and you're better off avoiding that fandom completely (old Avatar fandom and the zutara contingent comes to mind--though the Ty Lee/Azula folks were pretty chill).
So, you know. I wish there'd been a There Will be Blood fandom sometimes. But even if that fandom had come into being and flourished, it probably never would have produced the fic I was looking for anyway.
