Well, I didn't actually play The Stanley Parable, as it was released at a time when I was extremely busy. That's the thing about choosing your 'game of the year'; every one is working from a different list. But assuming that the full-release Stanley Parable is similar to the original mod version, I'm not sure I would agree. The mod version was a very witty and clever piece of metafiction, which definitely has it's charm, but by its very nature it wasn't big on personal relationships or character depictions. Gone Home was all about those things, as well as playing with genre expectations. It plays with a very gothic sensibility, and does so with a remarkable amount of subtlety. There's plenty of space for both kinds of stories.
It's also a fantastic example of how to have game systems that are not mechanical systems, which is a conflation that really burns my bacon, so that's nice too.

I don't really know what 11th Hour Plot Twist that would be. There was a reveal, certainly, but it was a slow, gradual one over the course of the entire game.
(I'm sure there's LPs out there, but I'd really suggest just playing the game)
