Let's talk game journalism, it's a good topic with E3 behind us I think. Who do you follow? Who can we trust? Who must be dragged from their ivory tower and destroyed?

Personally I'd put Giant Bomb as my main source. I don't always agree, but they can be usually relied on to put their views forth in a logical manner and you can be certain that it's their opinions and not some publisher marketing corporation's.

Other than that, I'll dip into Rock Paper Shotgun, TotalBiscuit's stuff, and of course Erik Kane over at Forbes is always interesting for his take on controversies. Yahtzee's enjoyable from a critical perspective and he's pretty entertaining, but he praises largely by exception and his content is scheduled so he's no good for actual review or news. There's also a lot of LPers I follow who can also be relied on for generally interesting content/opinions, mainly Matt/Patt and the T30s.

How about you /cog/?

I read Wired's Game|Life because Chris Kohler seems to have fairly similar taste in games to me, but I can't really give any honest assessment as to whether it's better than any other source. It seems better than Kotaku and IGN, at least.

But I think most of my gaming news comes from you guys, and occasionally checking Reddit's games sections. Crowdsourcing games journalism seems a lot more reliable than actual journalists.

Forbes seems to have a good staff that don't get all defensive of the industry when criticism is needed. One of the few that handled the ME3 nonsense with actual balance.

Totalbiscuit for always having an interesting and well-built opinion on things. I might not always agree with him on everything, but at least he comes across as someone who THINKS about stuff rather than just another reactionary moron.

AngryJoe is getting better and better with every video he does. He's one of the few reviewers/youtube people who show genuine emotion anymore. Apparently he got an interview with Major Nelson that should be up today or tomorrow. I'm interested to see how he handles it.

Yeah... seems only the BFP (Matt/Pat) and Angry Joe can be trusted these days.

Rev3 seems like a decent, if not humble attempt at Journalism. Unfortunately, its star reporters do have a little cult of personality around them, particularly Adam Sessler.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun are my go-to PC news guys. I may not always agree with them, but I can always respect them.
