I guess that one character has the /x/-tan eye, and the blonde girl looks like /c/ if I cross my eyes and squint... what am I missing?

if you look at Spike's gallery, he's the one who drew the "/x/-tan legs" one with the "who was phone" in the background. he also was going to redraw the one /x/-tan-gets-raped-by-/d/-tan comic, but only got one page done.

Right, while I'm here, here's something to chew on:

>As a /v/irgin, I really dislike that stupid Brown-haired glasses wearing board-tan. I feel like it's only EVER used in images drawn by /a/ depicting a gay relationship between /a/ and /v/. If there's any image I think of when I think of /v/ it's that guy from that huge comic about the guy fighting moot and having that battle with the cancer metaphor. You know, always angry, never enjoys anything.

>Sorry I've just had that on my mind for a long while and hadn't been able to find a reason to express it till now.

/v/-tan: always angry, all the time. To be fair, there's very little regarding /v/-tan that's actually representative of /v/-the-board except apparently that /v/ likes traps and is tsundere for /a/.

Still ongoing is pretty strong words, but I suppose all the stuff that was archived and websites that were put up are still there.

Now that the +wiki (can we call it that?) is up, there should probably be pages for all the characters, setting, etc, in a category and/or in a subsection, i.e. "4CH-Characters:/a/-tan" in the manner of the Wakfu characters

Whoever did that is amazing.
The MLP phase /co/ has been going through is fairly recent.
I didn't figure anybody would put that theme to the board-tans.
The tentacled phallicorn /d/ pony is just hilarious.

A big thanks to Voi and Zecro for keeping the discussion going.
I pretty much took my leave of the project a while ago without really saying much.
Cool to see that it's still going, though without some sort of regular discussion I don't think things will change much on my end.
I really only took part in this project for as long as I could count on regular attendance from a decent number of people.
Maybe if I could catch some of you guys in a chatroom somewhere it would be cool to catch up a bit.
Unless it's changed since I left, the messageboards have always been a little too slow for any meaningful discussion.

Good to know it hasn't gotten cold at least.
Now that I've taken to time to look, I guess there's actually been a decent amount of activity.
That's good to see, and might make it worth getting back into things here.
I ended up involving myself in a another "project" of sorts a little while ago though.
I guess I'll have to read what's been done since I left a bit more carefully to get caught up.
Once I can see where you guys are at, I'll at least know if I have anything left to contribute.
Aside from character discussion, and the occasional bit of writefaggotry I've not really had that much to give.
Maybe if I'd taken the reins a little tighter early on we'd have more done, but that would have been at the expense of our fun.

I ended up deleting my account to draw more content for the 4chan board-tan project. Lulzz.

I'll add in some more drawings for the board-tans, but it's difficult interpreting over 40 boards in the house. /r9k/ needs some revisions.

We need to solidify some of the board-tans' characteristics. I've mainly kept up with /new/ and /r9k/, but I'm going to take a crack at /lit/ and other smaller boards.

I actually think there are 'groups' of board-tans that keep in contact with each other due to their similarity in certain subjects. They also keep in contact when a specific event happens that trigger them into interacting with other board-tans.

The thing that I like about this project is, well, if the personality of the board ends up being a-close-to-accurate portrayal, anons can enjoy poking fun at it rather than taking the subject seriously.

I've noticed that too. I never really got around to pairings rather than boards being casual fuck buddies, but I don't browse 4chan as much as other people.

We need some more input on /v/'s character by either asking /v/irgins or by lurking moar. I know /a/ is tsundere, just don't know how far of a tsundere he can be or if /a/ is becoming stalker-ish with /v/.

On a random note, someone mentioned /cgl/ and /jp/ as his/her otp. It got me to thinking that we need to redesign the infamous 'bagman' to fit with the actual board.

So, this is still happening.

I guess. I should write stuff instead of playing tabletop games and watching anime?

Also if 4chanhouse goes down for a little bit don't be surprised. Some stuff happened, but it got better.

So I actually hang out on /cgl/, and bagman is supposed to be a huge parody. There's been talk of portraying /cgl/ (cosplay) as /egl/ (lolita) and /cos/, but it's probably better to fold them into one character.

/cgl/'s users:
*are mostly female (period threads oh boy)
*are probably the most "arts and crafts" thing on 4chan besides /po/
*never have enough money for their hobbies (except those that do, but they are not as vocal about it)
*frequent cosplay-related sites, and most notably LiveJournal cosplay/EGL
*can be vindictive bitches, but other users hate that (/cgl/ used to be titled /DRAMA/ for a short bit)
*want to cosplay accurately, and rage when people don't
*want to be /fit/ but consist of "jealous fatties" (not all of them). there has been some times when /fit/ people popped into /cgl/ to talk about how to be /fit/
*want to be /fa/shionable, especially regarding Lolita. But is Lolita a fashion? That's a question for the ages...
*are fans but will only fangirl on the inside
*are not actually the KAWAII DESU KARR people at cons. they hate that shit. cut it out. take a gog-damn shower, too, hambeast.

HOLY FUCK.

I was there the whole time. The first thread was fucking full of drama. Even /3/ was there. By the way, /co/ and /ck/ broke up. The other boards were all like "yeah /ck/, /co/ had been cheating on you. He's a fucking douche." And were generally being assholes.

Throughout the whole thread, the boards were trolling each other and making fun of other boards that were on there. /cgl/ had an issue with /cm/'s hetalia obsession and /sp/ and /new/ were arguing over sports or some shit before /r9k/ showed up and people were wondering why the boards weren't dead. /d/ (I think) tried to get it on with /3/. /tg/ was basically "Fuck you /co/, I would've treated /ck/ better". Trying to rack my brain on what happened, but I think /lit/, /sci/, and /tv/ made an appearance along with a couple of other boards.

The thread was archived with /co/ saying something like "The break-up isn't official if it isn't archived!" /tg/ lol'ed.

The question is, why can't I find the thread in the 4chan archive?

We're back!

Also I wrote a thing.
---------------
“Ugh, my head. Where am I?”
/tg/ rubbed his head and pushed his long hair out of his eyes. He sat up in bed and looked around. He was in an empty room, without windows. The only light source was a lamp fixture on the ceiling in the center of the room, which was turned on, for some reason. There was a desk with a computer and the bed that he was in. The walls were completely bare. The only obvious exit was a door.

/tg/ pulled the blue covers off himself, and realized he was wearing jeans and a red shirt with a clearly angry yellow frowny face. He got out of bed and cautiously opened the door. It opened into a large dark room illuminated only by the light of a television. The middle of the room was crowded with couches, and a solitary figure was sitting on one of them, intently looking at a TV with a videogame controller in his hand. /tg/ stepped out into the room, and closed the door behind him. It had a nameplate on it: “/tg/ - Traditional Games.” /tg/ guessed that meant him. Aside from gunshots and explosions from the TV there was no noise. The figure there didn't seem to notice him.

Looking around, /tg/ saw two spiral staircases going up as well as a number of other rooms on the floor. He moved silently upstairs, wishing for a sword or hammer to ward off any monster that might appear. The spiral staircase continued upwards, but this seemed to be the ground floor. The floor above had the same basic layout, but no couches or televisions. Orange light filtered through the curtains that opened onto the ground level of some sort of suburban street. It was clearly early morning. There was an exit to what seemed to be a yard, through a revolving door. There were doors to rooms on this floor as well. /tg/ looked around at the nameplates: “/e/ - Ecchi,” “/t/ - Torrents,” “/a/ - Anime and Manga,” “/b/ - Random.” Before he could get a better look, a man in a blue suit, fedora, and mask walked through the revolving doors, stretching and yawning. There was a slight pause as each eyed the other. /tg/ opened his mouth, but the masked man turned and fled upstairs before /tg/ could say anything.

“Looks like I failed that initiative roll...”

/tg/ stepped outside through the revolving doors, and breathed in the morning air. It was chilly, but /tg/ looked at the front of the four story building before going back inside. There was a sign hanging above the revolving door, that was just readable in the morning light: “4chan.” /tg/ walked inside and was greeted by a man with dirty blond hair and a Green Lantern hoodie.

“So, you must be new here,” he said, extending his arm for a handshake and taking a few breaths before continuing. “I'm /co/, welcome to 4chan.”
/tg/ reached up for a handshake. “Uh, hi, I'm /tg/, I think,” /tg/ trailed off.
“Well, don't worry, you'll find that this isn't too bad a place once you get used to it,” /co/ said, shaking hands.
“So, I guess I live here now?”
“Yep, welcome to the gang,” /co/ said, letting go. Most everyone is sleeping now, but you'll meet them soon enough.”
“ I don't really know how I got here.”
“None of us do, that's the great mystery of life!” /co/ said, slightly dramatically. “Where are you staying?”
“My room is downstairs, or so I've gathered.”
“Well, you can take some time to get settled in,” /co/ said. “I'll get /ck/ to cook you a nice breakfast. She should be getting up soon.” /co/ looked off into the distance, as /tg/ stared at /co/. “Oh, that's right,” /co/ continued, looking at his wrist watch. “The dining room is just upstairs. Breakfast will be ready in half an hour.”
“Thanks,” /tg/ said hesitantly.
“Don't worry about it!” /co/ said, smiling. “This is your home now, too! We'll be seeing lots of each other, I'm sure of it.” /co/ turned to go back upstairs, then paused, turned around and walked up closer to /tg/. “Oh,” he said, in a quieter voice, “everyone here is a bit of a character. Don't worry if you don't get along at first, just don't be too provocative.”
“I'll keep that in mind,” /tg/ said, wondering if this man had good intentions in mind or not. “Thanks, /co/.”
“See you in half an hour!” /co/ said and bounded upstairs.

/tg/ heard a loud “GODDAMNIT” from downstairs. He went back down, but nothing had changed. It must have been the guy with the controller. /tg/ snuck back into his room, and closed the door. So this was his new home? He didn't have much time to reflect on that, as he realized he wasn't alone in his room. On his bed, with on leg on the ground and one on the bed was what looked like a teenager with a scowl on his face. He was wearing torn jeans with chains on them, and a black t-shirt. A shadow seemed to emanate from him, making him look more sinister. There was a case at his feet.

“Hey,” he said, not waiting. “You like Warhammer, right?”
“Yeah,” /tg/ said, not sure how this person knew what he himself just realized.
“Here, you can have these,” the boy picked up the case, slightly carelessly, plopped it on the bed, and opened it up. /tg/ inched closer to look at it. Inside were Space Marines. The Marines were painted black, with green helms with something written on them in white: “No Picture Available.” There was a common motif of a snake-like white cat, and a four-leaf clover. One of the space marines had no helmet, and was wearing a red bandana on his head. Another had a black afro, and a third had a silly grin on his face and a T-rex on his chest plate. The attention to detail was impeccable. As /tg/ was admiring the minis, he didn't notice the boy stand up and slowly walk to the door.
/tg/ heard the door open, and looked at the back of the figure standing in the doorway. “Wait, did you paint these? And you're just giving them to me?” The minis looked like a labor of love.
“Yeah, you can have them,” the boy said, standing in the doorway, not looking back.
“Are you sure? This is a great paint job...”
The boy stepped through the door. “I don't want them anymore.”

Don't go changing the /m/ that /m/ itself decided on. Though that might work as a toku form for him now that toku is officially /m/.

I like to practice on mechs. Someone had an idea that /m/ never reveals his/her gender, so I played on that.

Without the mech suit, I can pretty much draw the board-tan as said on the 4chanhouse site, but it's /m/. First thing that pops to my mind was a mech suit.

>/m/ is oblivious to the advances of the various female characters swooning over him, often comically so.

From the 4chan board tans description. I'm going to have a hard time portraying this, but personality wise, he's oblivious yet hero-like. That shouldn't be too hard to interpret.

Plus4chan is /co/nrads family's home or first home
He moved out to 4chan to start to live on his own
/mlp/ is /co/ little sister who got kick out of here and had to live with her brother for a while
Until she got kick out of his place

they've been running with an idea like that for the past few days in /mlp/ while trying to make a board-tan.

Every time they get something good, someone says they should start over.

She's basically disliked by almost all other board-tans for one reason or another, she got kicked out of /co/'s place for ambiguous reasons, among which entails using his credit card to buy horse dildos online.

They're still arguing about the "final" design, but the most popular one so far:
>Wears a hat she stole from /co/'s closet to cover up a fake horn she cement glued to her forehead and cannot remove.
>has a cutie mark tattoo on her left thigh that her imaginary roommate, /ponychan/, convinced her to get while drunk.
>Wears glasses
>wears her hair in a pony tail (color varies)

chances are they'll be arguing about this until no one cares anymore.

here's one of the archived threads

Shouldn't /s/ be a fat neck beard that lusts after pretty women? Does anyone even reallly care about this project anymore? I mean, it doesn't seem to get anything significant done anymore.

Its personas for the boards themselves, not the people in them.

...But yeah, truth is, this is a really passive things. For shits n giggles every now and then.

Fat neck beard is EVERY board though.

I like it better when the design is more so based on the content of a board while the personality is influenced by the posters.

Every so often there'll be a thread about it on 4chan and I'll become interested in this project again. For instance, psudo is working on a /co/lette comic right now and posted a couple previews for it in /co/ about a week ago.

The last major development was the 2 week long constant stream of discussions on /mlp/ about creating their board-tan; that spawned a lot of pics and fics.

and then there's stuff like pic related, which happens with more frequency.

I disagree. I think the -tans are supposed to be partially related to the subject matter of the board but more heavily based on the boards' attitudes towards the matter. For example, Conrad being a weak and nerdy wannabe-superhero.
>> No. 44966

that's what I was saying here >>44965 though.

The "fat neck beard" thing can be applied to any board's user base (and I see it come up every time board-tans get discussed, to the point where it might as well be troll bait), that's why I like using the subject of the board the board-tan represents as the basis for their appearance while the attitude of the posters determines the personality.

Also, Indonesian Gentleman and some other guys were making sprite characters for a 4chan fighting game.
I saw the ones for /co/lette and Old Man Henderson, but I guess I didn't save them... the thread they were posted in was archived, but it will be deleted in about 21 hours from now and chanarchive is currently down.
bummer.

It was mainly /co/ vs. /tg/ using the various OCs from the boards based on what I remember.

I am not trolling, if that's what you are implying. I have designed at least on of the -tans.

Like I said, the main part part of the -tans should be about the board's user base and how they react to the subject matter. The main users of /s/ seem to be sleazy guys that lust after women, like the main posters of /co/ are nerds that wish they were superheroes. I personally see /s/ as more of a Leisure Suit Larry sort of character.

not saying you're trolling, just saying part of the argument you're using is overused by trolls.

I don't know enough about /s/'s posters to make any arguments there, but I think some other boards (like /hr/ maybe) are more like a Leisure Suit Larry character if you judge it based on user content and board description.

If I try to apply what limited information I know to the way I see it, then /s/-tan would be some kinda sexy model character who acts like a slob when she's not on camera.
I've seen a few designs for /s/ before, main features are always big tits.

oh, and I found those sprite designs I mentioned... but then chanarchive went down again.
/co/nrad is also going to be a playable character, provided they continue the project.

I know all about FF and MC, I've been in on those threads and the thread going on right now.

Sadly, I've yet to get anyone to draw FF and /d/-tan having a transformation stand off.

I'd like to get a pic with /d/-tan and all the /d/ OCs together in it at some point.
