Since the last thread is three posts away from autosage and nearly fallen off the board, time for a new creepy thread.

One of the sites that's been created to pick up where creepypasta.com left off, Creepypasta Index continues the tradition of cataloging creepypasta in a tidy fashion.
http://www.creepypastaindex.com/
Some old favorites, as well as gems I haven't seen before, like this one.

Okay, uh, this is probably gonna get me nowhere, but there was this creepypasta I found on /x/, years ago. Only ever saw it once, and it was only posted cause an anon specifically requested it.

I don't remember too much about it. It was long as balls(I think it was 5+ huge posts worth). It started out with a bunch of teens/young adults going...camping, I think? And they find a cabin, and one of the people looks in the window, only to find that someone else is staring back through at him with their face pressed against the glass. And then it's like that person's face falls off, and it slowly slides down the glass.
Then...other things happen, and they find a river, just fucking stuffed full of mutilated dolls. They're just drifting down the river, and as far as they can see in both directions, the river is carrying along hundreds of mutilated dolls.
Then a whole bunch of other stuff, and it becomes about the main guy, the one who looked in the window, going slowly apeshit insane.

And that's all I really remember, and considering I've only seen it once in all my years of being an /x/phile, I doubt I'm gonna be able to find it again, but y'know, figured I'd ask.

With a bit of google-fu and the knowledge that they went camping in Huntsville (in Texas), I give yooou...

Huntsville Camping Trip pt.1:

I went camping about 3 weekends ago in the Huntsville national forest in Texas. Me and 3 friends that came home for the weekend, they are all in college and usually we all get together at least once a year, old friends from high school. For the camping trip we planned to go backpacking deep in the forest, live off of fish that we catch and animals that we can trap. We have been doing this for awhile in Texas and in numerous places, Arizona, Colorado (if anyone is familiar with the Spanish peaks there), New Mexico, so we‘re pretty much used to anything you‘d encounter out there.

It was my turn to pick where we went camping, so I chose Huntsville (more accurately it’s Huntsville/New Waverly). So we drive up there park our car in a camping park spot and start walking off into the forest. We had some laughs along the way, everyone catching up with each other’s lives. We walked until it started to get dark and set up camp where we stopped. Everyone gathered wood to make a fire and we set our tent up. And we do what we always do: try and scare each other with weird stories.

Around this time we started to smell something very faint. It was noticeable, but not overbearing. We couldn’t put our finger on what it was, so we just carried on. Mike had to go piss and he walked off in the forest. A second later he come running back, piss all down his jeans like he’d missed really bad. Immediately we all crack up and throw some jokes at him. Then we noticed that he was white as snow and trying to catch his breath. He starts screaming for us to follow him, and runs off.

We all get serious and go follow him, not knowing what the problem was. We start to hear a faint scream and crying in the distance, in the direction we were running. It was pitch black away from the camp and Mike had the only flash light (we left ours at the camp, he had his from his trip taking a piss), so at this stage we didn’t have much choice but to follow the light, which was frantically pointing here and there in front of him.

Huntsville Camping Trip pt.2:

The scream gets closer and Mike starts to slow down. We then notice a ratty old cabin that looked like it was abandoned, except for a faint light that we could see from one of the old mildew covered windows. The crying was intense: whoever it was couldn’t breathe enough to let out a full yell. We all followed Mike up to the front door and we could all hear the crying from inside. As soon as he knocked on the door it stopped.

We all waited and heard really heavy footsteps walking fast to the door. There was a giant slam against the door and the sound of a bolt unlocking. Then nothing. We waited for a bit, knocked a few more times, but still nothing happened. We walked around the house (there was no ****ing way any of us were leaving each other’s side) and noticed a window, which was a good way up. Alex took a deep breath and said asked us to give him a boost so he could see inside. Me and Mike lifted him up to the window. We watched him brush away dirt and webs from the window and place his face close to the window to try and see something.

There was a quick beat. Then suddenly he breathed in fast and let out a loud scream. Then he fell back from the window, screaming bloody murder the whole way. We all tried to calm him down but he was hysterical. We went to him but he started to shake, punch, kick, you name it, and then took off towards the camp.

None of us wanted to be separated so we all ran close behind him. We caught up to him and grabbed him and set him down. The fire was dying out so I grabbed some nearby wood that we collected added it to the fire. My hands were shaking and I had to do something. I went back to Alex and we all tried to calm him down. He wouldn’t he kept screaming and was breathing so hard that he eventually fainted.
All of us are terrified now, and we all kept the fire high until sunrise. Periodically Alex kept waking up, screaming just like before. By sunrise he was up and looked catatonic, just mumbling to himself and whimpering.

Huntsville Camping Trip pt.3:

Me and Mike decide to go look at the cabin now it was daylight. We searched where we thought it was, except there was nothing there. Nothing at all. The indistinct smell from last night had now grown into a very strong smell of something dead, something stale. We headed back to the camping site. When we got there we found Alex had chewed into the sides of his face and swallowed so much blood that he was throwing up. John was at his back, and he looked like he was about to die from exhaustion. I guess we all looked that way, I just didn’t notice until I saw his face. Alex said quietly that we need to leave. Now.

We all started to pack up the tent. It started to rain really heavily (it was about noon) and the sky started to grow really dark. Alex started to go into a panic. He went and grabbed a big stick and yelled at us to leave it and leave, now, or he‘d knock us out and drag us out of there himself. Mike started to yell at him, and they started to fight. We broke it up and finished packing, and then started to make our way back. After a little while we arrived at a creek we had crossed the previous day, only it was flooded over, and the water was moving to fast for us to cross it. Alex started to scream again, yelling at Mike for taking his time packing up the tent when we could have gotten out of here. This went on for a while until we finally convinced Alex to calm down and tell us what happened.

He said as soon as he put his face to the glass, a face on the other side did the same thing, and started to smile really big. It had dark eyes and a dark mouth which was much bigger then Alex’s, as the smile got as large as it could. A giant shadow behind it swung something down and sliced it‘s face off. The face was stuck to the window, and he said it started to laugh quietly as it slid down. Mike, still pissed off (and though he wouldn‘t admit it, beginning to get freaked out), started to argue with him again. We eventually started to follow the creek for a way to cross.

We then started to see toys floating in the creek. Really old toys, old Barbie dolls and baby dolls. This wasn’t like any old trash floating in the creek, though… this was a lot of barbies, a lot of baby dolls. One washed towards the side and Mike picked it up. It had some kind of voice chip that was dying and started to say some gurgling words we couldn’t understand, followed by it’s sad excuse for laughter. Then it sounded like it was whispering. We thought the batteries must be dying, he threw it down.

Huntsville Camping Trip pt.4 The End:

We kept going, and the sun was starting to set. Alex was freaking out more now, and was whimpering and breathing heavily. We all started to see shadows move behind trees, something we all called BS on until we all were seeing it. It was barely light out and we stop as we see the cabin right in front of us. None of us knows what to think. Mike says “This is bull, I’m going in there.” Alex tries to stop him. We all do, all of us just wanted to go home. Mike says to all of us to **** off, do our own thing, he doesn’t care anymore, this is all bull.

We start to hear hundreds of the same sort baby doll as before, laughing, whispering and trying to sing. We start to move forward past the cabin, all of us, and kept pushing forward. We smelled something dead in the air, something stale. The same something as before. We started to hear something crying, and something screaming. We kept on going. We eventually crossed the creek and left the woods. We get back to our vehicle and got in. Its pitch black, and we drive. We are about to get on the 45 to Houston but the road is under construction and can’t be accessed. It points to a detour. As we head towards the detour it seems to be small, bumpy dirt road going into the woods.

We then see a young girl come up to us. She looks like she was in trouble, young and pretty. She approaches the passenger side door and she looks like she‘s really drugged up, or beaten up. Alex doesn’t roll down the windows, nor does he open the door. She reaches for the handle and he immediately locks it. She puts her face on the window and starts to smile really big. We floor it, Alex starts to cry and scream and we are all breathing heavy. We finally cut on a street that takes us to the 45 and we take it the whole way. When we get back to my apartment everyone doesn’t know what to say and we all break apart and go our separate ways.

Mike messages me later and says he is going to go back. I try to convince him not to and all he does is say it was our own minds that were screwing with us. I think he just went to prove to himself he wasn’t scared. I can smell that stench everywhere now. I don’t go out anymore, I just stay in and don’t answer the door. Last week everyone I met was acting really strange, people that I knew for a long time and total strangers. My own dad, when I went to his place to eat supper with him he just watched me, strangely, when I was sitting down. He didn’t say a word the whole time. I kept asking him “What’s wrong?” He just slowly shook his head.

When I was leaving to go home I turned to wave. He had black eyes and an open mouth like he was in pain. When I started to walk back he shut the door and bolted it. I stayed there knocking and knocking. Nothing. I called him, his phone was disconnected. I even called the police. Halfway through the questions they were asking me the connection started to fade into static. I could hear a faint mumbling, singing and laughing.

Mike has completely vanished. There is not even a record of him being alive. When I call Alex’s house they talk to me like I’m some salesman. They say they don’t know any Alex and to please stop calling. The person who tells me that is Alex‘s mother. I can’t get ahold of John. Someone knocked on my door and when I went to look I saw a face completely covering the peephole and a giant smile started to form.

I called the cops again and instead of it turning into static they got really strange. “Sir, are you affected by any drugs at the moment?” “No.” “Are you coming home anytime soon?” “Excuse me?” “Come home.” and the phone call ended. My mail slot swings every now and then. Someone is sliding pieces of baby dolls through it. I try to call people now and all I can hear is static and bad baby doll noises and this crying and screaming. My TV is busted but when I go to piss I can hear it on. I might be going insane.

Whoever lives above me started to scream in pain and crying deeply recently. I hear giant footsteps from their apartment, I hear bangs and something falling to the ground. From the neighbours to the right of my apartment I hear what sounds like a baby that never gets tended too and then it sounds like a baby doll whose batteries are dying. My phone has been ringing now and it’s Alex telling me things in a language that I have never heard before, nor could even manage to repeat. I kept getting emails of pictures of black and small colorations, now I can’t even access my email. Someone knocks on the door, then they slam against it. I hear the bolts unlocking one by one and I run to make sure to lock all of them back.

Then, I sit down and begin to cry.

I've only made it down about fifteen flights so far, but there are some differences from the article, such as instead of a crying child being audible after the first flight of stairs, you begin hearing an indistinct echoing noise around ten flights down. So being familiar with the entry doesn't seem to offer the comfort of knowing what's going to happen and when.

EDIT: Wait, scratch that, this time I started hearing it after the very first flight. I have no clue what the fuck is happening.

Before watching that, I managed to make it down to level 51 without seeing the face before quitting again. The first time a shadow appeared at about level 20 I let out a muffled shout. After that I probably looked hilarious, body as far back from my monitor as possible, arms completely extended to reach the controls, head turned to the side so I was only watching through one half-opened eye.

I don't understand you kids and your new sense of fear, but maybe some of you understand mine and will enjoy it.

These sites are mainly for Giallo horror, I'm building a list of good horror blogs and tumblrs and Giallo being a small genre makes it easier to get down some of the best (though the best Giallo horror IS ALWAYS Tenebre.)

For those of you wondering what the fuck Giallo is, it's essentially a mish-mash genre, the name comes from the yellowed pages of the cheap novels they used to make in the genre.

They are essentially murder mysteries with a hell of a lot of exploitation thrown in, but what makes them good is that because they are cheap and few people search them out, directors feel they can go absolutely bat shit insane and experiment with various film effects, so what you end up with is usually a reasonably good murder mystery, a lot of nudity, death and most interestingly some of the most beautiful yet surreal and unsettling atmospheres, scenes and shots you will ever see in a movie, it's for this reason they are considered horror, they aren't jump scares or anything, but between the music and film work it is pretty easy to get scared and creeped out by these.

There is a moment each leap year, at exactly three minutes past three on the morning of February 29th. If you possess the courage, await that moment in darkened room, with no other present. At that moment, the darkness will deepen. If you were to hold your hand directly before your face, you would not see a thing. But you must not do so. No, for that would be to waste the moment. Instead you must reach out, into that impenetrable darkness.
And it will reach out to you.
An unseen hand will grasp yours. You must not flinch away, nor tighten your grasp. To do so will only slough away more of the decrepit flesh that covers it, and anger its unseen owner. Remain perfectly still, as the withered fingers move over your palm, tracing unknown patterns. Do not move an inch as it crawls slowly up your arm. And most of all do not even breathe as it caresses your face, touching what cannot be seen.
Should you remain still through this, the hand will be withdrawn and a voice will speak, so close you can feel its breath on your face, smell the scent of decay it carries. It will ask you for one simple piece of information: your name. Answer truthfully. Answer truthfully, and the presence will retreat, leaving only a whisper in the air as the darkness lifts. “It is done.”
From that day on, untold good fortune will be yours, and mysterious power. You will lack nothing, and have everything. But in a year, perhaps two, your eyes will sting in bright light, you will feel your skin begin to decay, and the sweet smell of death will be upon your breath…

Two SPC games that have yet to be linked on here:
http://scpcb.wordpress.com/

SPC Containment Breach, which is still very much in the alpha state. It has you trying to escape a facility after, you guessed it, a containment breach. There are a couple of SPC's already in the game, including SPC-173 (who is constantly hunting for you); SPC-106, otherwise known as "Larry" (who is also hunting you); SPC-420j (as a joke); and SPC-914 (which you can apparently use on yourself) and others.
Its still got bugs and does not have an ending, so you can't actually escape the facility yet.

There's also SPC-087-B, which is sort of like the other game based on SPC-087 but has randomly generated hallways and something that is following you.

I'm not a huge fan of the SCP: Containment Breach game, because it has 1 fatal flaw: randomly generated rooms. It would make the game much more playable if there was a single defined map of the entire facility. Otherwise, it's almost impossible to avoid SCP-173 and SCP-106. Some say this makes it scarier, but I think the scare factor comes from not knowing when 173 is going to show up, not what room you'll run into next. Having a defined map of the facility would be nice for a more "Half-Life" approach with SCP's showing up as you progress instead of being random, except for the constant threat of 173 (I really don't think 106 fits as a "slasherflick" stalker). And, y'know, realism and all that.

I like the blink meter though. That's horror game innovation, right there.

Someone did that with a Slenderman-based scenario.

So many things have been traced back to Something Awful or creepypasta that I read everything with a grain of salt now. And I can't honestly say I've had any experiences that could be chalked up to something unexplainable. Which makes me a little sad, honestly.

It might be because it's more psychological and less jump scares. I'm not usually scared by video games (although weirdly enough, sometimes I get spooked hours later when the "Tetris Effect" kicks in), but there's one student game I want to play that has a woman trying to find her infant, who's been kidnapped by monsters. That pulls me much more than "oh no, zombies attacked, but luckily, you're an ex-military badass with access to a lot of guns".

I feel sorry for girls with long black hair as a result of Asian horror, though. Apparently girls in Japan who look like Sadako get bullied a lot.

So this one time there was a guy on his way home in the middle of the night when he saw a little girl hitchhiking. She was drenched in mud and water even though it hadn't been raining. Since he wasn't superstitious or anything, he decided to give her a lift. He was still a bit uncomfortable so the two didn't speak a word, but he kept checking on her through the rear mirror. Suddenly he looked back and the girl was gone. So he freaked out and immediately stopped the car. When he turned around the girl was there again, this time with blood covering her face, murmuring some incomprehensible words. Now he was really scared shitless. He got out of the car, went to the back, popped the trunk, pulled out his shotgun, opened the back door, and said "What the hell do you want from me!"

The girl replied:
"Oh that's just fucking fantastic! First I slip and fall into a pond, then I lose my contact lenses while you pressed the brake so hard I bumped my head that I'm bleeding all over my face, and now you're pointing a shotgun at me!".

C'mon, it's like you guys aren't even trying.

THAT GUY tells a crappy, not-so-spooky story.

Once upon a time there was this guy that got lost in the woods. After several hours he found an abandoned cabin. Completely tired he decided to spend the night there. Inside he found that there were several portraits hanging around, I mean really creepy portraits. A thin, pale old man, an old, woman, and a creepy looking child. For some reason they seemed to follow him around, not just the eyes, but seemingly turning their heads, staring at him.
It did creep him out a bit, but he though it was just his fatigue, so he decided to fall asleep anyway.
The next morning he discovered to his surprise that there were no portraits, only windows. When he exited the cabin, he discovered three gravestones.

Was feeling nostalgic for my youth in New Jersey, and decided to look up some of the local news. Turns out someone recently reeled-in a foot from one of the reservoirs I fished at when I was younger.

http://www.nj.com/hunterdon-county-democrat/index.ssf/2012/05/human_remains_hooked_by_fisher.html

After I'd moved to Maine, my grandfather had told me some of the history of the place. At one point Round Valley had been a small town, one of many which have been flooded over the years to create reservoirs. Round Valley has gained a dark tone to its character over the years, as people have vanished there, never to be found. The official records stand at six, but others will insist that number is in the dozens.

Nothing supernatural about it though. Wind conditions on the lake are treacherous. Takes nothing for a strong wind to whip across the surface and toss an unwary fisherman from his boat, where currents would suck him down.

There's also the fact that the entire town remains standing deep beneath the water. My grandfather had spoken to a man who'd gone down in a two-man sub, one of the first such explorations into the lake, prompted by the various deaths and disappearances. Seems the entire town remains standing. Trees, power and phone lines, roads, houses, even a small, local cemetery: all of them remain preserved deep under the water. Supposedly the man even spotted a deserted tricycle sitting in a driveway. All those power lines, telephone poles, and trees mean there's plenty of things for a victim of the lake's winds to get snagged on and never surface.

My grandfather also asked the man if he'd seen any large fish while he was down there, since the reservoir is a popular fishing spot. The man's tantalizingly ambiguous reply was 'you don't want to know what's down there.' Even if you strip away as much as possible of the fantastical speculation the mind leaps to at such a remark, the notion of record-breaking fish fatted on the remains of the dead in a sunken town... it's still a pretty colorful image.

I don't find Slenderman creepy, because all he does is wear a suit and stare at you, but I find the G-Man from Half-Life pretty unnerving, more than most horror games, and he does the exact same thing.

I think the difference is that Slendy doesn't have the glowy green eyes or abnormal speech patterns, and has an origin from either Something Awful or 4chan, which is a cesspool of trollbait.
>> No. 364941
>>364938
There's also the fact that G-Man's power is known to the player. If you defied him in the first game, you died. That was it.

If you won? Congrats, that's exactly how he wanted it to go. You've proved your worth to him, now have fun being stuck in some box for a couple years. If you lost? You were a disappointment, nothing more.

Everyone defies Slenderman. You can get away with fighting against him for a LONG time too. If you fight G-Man? You're going to die, and he's going to make your daughter be the one to tell you that it's your fault.

Plus G-Man has much more mystery around him. His fingers are in so many pies you probably couldn't comprehend it. Slenderman just terrorizes young adults and maybe kills them. Nothing much past that.

Another thing that makes G-Man scarier is that he has some kind of motivation. If two people tried to kill me, and one had a personal vendetta and the other was just a stranger who had something wrong with them mentally, the person with the vendetta would haunt me more.

>>364954
Ahhh, okay. I wouldn't be surprised if people saw someone resembling him, it's not uncommon to be tall, skinny, pale, and wear a suit, but no, it's impossible to see Slendy irl.

I've always liked this pasta. Came across it again tonight.

Before I begin to relay the details of this ritual, I should probably explain that you need to be in a certain state of mind for it to work. I'm sure a lot of you out there will know what I mean, even though I am not the best person to be explaining human emotions. It's a kind of churning, constant emptiness. A feeling that although you have no desire to die, life simply "takes too long" and you would rather another option. It is very important that you feel this way, when undertaking the ritual. Because 'another option' is exactly what we'll give you.

The details are as follows. I have tried to make it as simple as possible, and to cut down on the cryptic rubbish that my contemporaries often include in these things, but you need to appreciate how hard that is. We don't live by constants, as you do. We live by symbolism and meaning. Bread does not sustain us, but the idea of bread makes a very good meal indeed. Still, enough talk. Even if you did want to hear about me, I wouldn't be able to explain it.

Apologies for this also, but if you're not a resident of the "United Kingdom", you have a little travelling to do. The new world doesn't interest us as much as the old ones, and this isn't going to be as convenient as finding any old hospital or half-way house. You will travel to Suffolk, England, and find a public house called "The Queen's Head" on the crossroads of four villages: Southwold, Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Walberswick. They've all been well-noted by history, though not necessarily in the History books. Anyhow, once there, visit the place during the hours of 11pm to 1am, and take a good look around the pub itself, without going inside. The crossroads is a simple one, four towns lie in four different directions, though new roads may not reflect that accurately. Take a compass with you. Take 10 steps toward each town, then ten steps back to your original location. Once you have done this for all four, proclaim: "I have seen this crossroads too many times".

Once said, step into the pub. It should look much as it did in my time, which may well be a shock to you. Don't worry. You can turn around and leave right at that moment, if you so wish. Go back to your 'life' and read these stories from the safety of a computer screen. If you do decide, however, to continue this course of action, then go to the bar, and ask for "a glass of the house Malefic". The barman will give you a glass of red wine, and accept no payment. Now, drink it, and you are exactly halfway to where you want to be. Good.

Once it's gone, he will tell you that you've had enough, and ask you to leave. Do as he says, for though he is a good friend of mine, he is a spiteful man with an old crow for a wife, and he delights in an excuse for a fight. When you leave, you will find a large black horse outside. Mount it. It's yours. A little gift from me to you, in gratitude for the tasks you've performed so far. The wine will have warmed you a little, I hope, for you have a long ride.

It doesn't matter in which direction you travel. It never did. The roads will be old, now, impossibly so, perhaps, and a dense fog will cover the tracks. Plough ahead, and do not deviate from the road. He may send a guard to veer from the mists to try to stop you, but keep moving. He may even send a loved one to plead that you slow down. This is a trick. It is me that he wants to stop. We have never seen eye to eye.

The mists will pass, and you will see an end to the road ahead. A gorge of impossible depth. Don't stare into it. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't gaze back, but it may hold you from your task. And neither of us want that, do we. To continue, you need only do one thing. Ride the horse from the cliffside, and plummet into the gorge. I never said this would be easy, did I? Don't worry. It's an exhilarating rush. For the most part. I shan't talk of the next few minutes of your trial. It would be improper, after all.

Many don't make it this far. They suddenly decide they have too much to live for. What a joke. As though cowardice and misery were badges of honour. However, those that do have the courage for this (and I commend you, I truly do) will have but one final task ahead of them. The hardest of all. He will appear to you. I've seen him before, more times than I would care to mention, and I know that this next part will be no easy task. You must deny him. He will show you your loved ones, those that have passed from life, and he will promise you a life with them. You must deny him. He will offer you bliss, and release from pain. You must deny him. Finally, he will offer his friendship, and his regard. Deny him. His words are false, and you will find no succour with him.

Finally, he will leave. Good. And we will be alone. Now for your gift? The reward for your efforts? No problem to a being like me. I will touch you upon the forehead. Once. And you will awake in the bed you find most comfortable. From this point on, you will be possessed of an irresistible charisma, and disease will never trouble you. No wound will harm you, and no argument will sway you. You'll be one of my children, and you will recognise others I have dealt with by the black fingerprint on their forehead.

The only catch? There isn't one. I'm not like him. I don't deal in punishments. I reward my children. -

That time of year again, and I'm especially psyched; I'll be working in a haunted house attraction, menacing people with a cleaver. Scaring the piss out of people for a living. For one month, I'll get to live the dream.

On the other hand, all the local stores' Halloween offerings this year were rather underwhelming. A few "oh, that's neat"s and "hey, that's cool"s, but nothing that reached out and demanded to be brought home.
