God the contrast of show and movie designs in this is so fucking jarring. It's no wonder Zuko and Iroh were banished when they refused to wear their proper topnots in the palace.

I dig the art and the writing seems pretty good. Even with Shyamalan's name and shitty movie font on it, I'd have bought this if they'd just used the show's designs.

The cool part is that this was written by two (presumably former) browsers of +/a/.

Alison Wilgus goes by Ali Wildgoose on DA and I think Dave Roman used to go by "pts" here, but I can't remember. I wish they still hung around, they're pretty great, but I think our maelstrom of complaining about Korra back when the show was ending season 1 might have driven them off.

Not a bad story. I wish I could get someone to manip the designs back to the way they look on the show. Especially when that ugly-ass not-the-Blue-Spirit mask from the movie popped up.

Huh, forgot that Sun Wukong was in this, though how he works in a world that has no version of Buddhism (Air Nomads/the Avatar could count, but this version seems to be pro-Fire Nation so I dunno) is confusing. Maybe he's just a trickster spirit in this one? I do remember that the mask Aang wore in... the Deserter I think it was, was apparently meant to represent him as well.

Have to agree that the writing is good, and if they'd done it with the original designs then it would have been much better, and less jarring with the mix of realistic-ish characters and the more cartoony ones. Like members of Zuko's crew, for example.

I have a feeling that they stuck with the original Azula design though because if they used the design of Summer Bishil's version no one would have a damn idea who she was supposed to be.

Actually, the comic was made before the movie finished production, and they weren't given any concept art or anything to help them figure out what Moviezula looked like. I think they even finished it before Azula's actress was even cast.
