Sweet.

On second glance, it's interesting that they put Asami front and center. I'd have expected Mako to be in the front row simply because, love him or hate him, he's the most prominent of that trio in terms of screen time and story. Plus, you'd think they'd want to balance out the large female Korra with a male character to try and capture prospective buyers who might be unfamiliar with the show.

Why must I be so poor?

>>111632

I think Asami is arguably a more relevant character in terms of the actual story, perhaps even a much more popular one.

Aw shit.

The item I linked in OP is for the DVD version. The bluray version is not on Amazon yet.

I just cancelled my preorder and will post a link to the bluray when it's up. The Bluray version has commentary for every episode of Book 1, the DVD only has some commentary.

I'd agree on both counts, but it just seems odd to put two female faces forward and keep the dudes in the back row. You don't see that happen a lot. Or maybe I'm just focusing on that aspect after the recent spat in the video game fandom over "dudebro" covers.

Still, a pleasant development.

i'm assuming they're referring to the rabble over the bioshock: infinite cover.

There were dumb arguments about Bioshock's cover being shitty and generic for featuring the hero of the game wielding a gun, and that it was too 'typical fps' instead of 'but vidya is aaaarrrttt'

They compromised and gave the game a reversible cover and extra printable ones
>> No. 111643
>>111639

Yes, the Bioshock thing.

And I belatedly realized why Asami is the second most prominent character on the cover. It's all in how she's got a mean face and a wicked-looking glove pointed at the camera. It helps fake out new viewers that she's going to end up being a bad guy.
>> No. 111644
I figured it was because Asami is the next most competent fighter after Korra

Mako and Bolin barely do anything compared to how many Equalists Asami downs in a single four minute fight scene

Gotta say the middle one is my favorite overall. Regardless of subject matter I don't care much for the herpaderp realistic style of the right one.

to be fair the official cover is pretty dumb looking

Took it more as them having different skill sets.

Asami combines martial arts with gadgets to defeat her foes, essentially making her Batman..

Bolin and Mako use just magical martial arts, making them Iron Fist (unrelated to the movie with the RZA).
>> No. 111662
>>111653

Wouldn't Asami make the better Iron Fist analogue? She's the scion of a wealthy industrialist who's claim to martial fame is a blazing (tazer glove) fist.

If we're talking Heroes for Hire, I'd say:

Asami :: Iron Fist
Korra :: Luke Cage
Lin Bei Fong :: Misty Knight
Master Tenzin :: Colleen Wing

(Mako and Bolin, of course, having no real relevancy to the plot...)

So the season is coming out on DVD?

Both DVD and Bluray. The Bluray has more commentary than the DVD version, that's why I cancelled my DVD preorder (I thought it was the bluray).

Fucking bullshit. Not everyone has a bluray player. Manipulation in it's purest form.
>> No. 111670
Though, in fairness, BluRay does have a larger storage capacity than a DVD.

They do want to encourage people to upgrade to the latest technology. They did the same shit with VHS. deal with it.

if you don't have a blu-ray player, go buy a ps3.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

>>111673
You're making the assumption that everyone has or can afford a blu-ray player or ps3. It doesn't affect me personally, because we do have a blu-ray player, but let's say I want to go to a friend's house and watch Korra with them, but they don't own either of these. It's not the same as VHS versus DVD and it's stupid to give blu-ray more commentary than the DVD version if it would be just as easy to make both of them with the same amount of content. I will not "deal with it".

Looks like somebody just stopped over from regular 4chan. You wanna knock that shit off?
>> No. 111681

DVDs are still everywhere, though, even in commercial applications like OS installation disks.

Plus, the only reason I can think of for this is that they wanted to boost blu-ray sales while also saving money on how many DVDs they needed to print.

Wait, are DVDs more expensive to make?

I don't goto 4chan much anymore, but I am aware of the changes. But why would somebody who hates Jews come from there?

They'd goto 4chon where they'd bitch and moan about how 4chan is ran by Jews.

Not necessarily; all HD shows are stored in a compressed format on a hard drive. More compressed than your average Blu Ray disk. Everything shown on TV these days NOT from a BD will look more washed out.
