I mean, I understand it can be annoying if there's an old, inactive discussion and someone bumps it for no reason, but I thought that as long as a thread is alive, posting on it is fair game? Sometimes there's a really interesting thread on its way to 404, but someone notices and bumps it from the last page. I thought that was a good thing?
If bumps from the past are unwanted, I'd be curious to know how old threads are okay to bump, and which ones are not. Or maybe it would be better not to give people the illusion of choice? Either the board should have less pages so that irrelevant threads die more quickly, or old discussions should get locked if they remain inactive for too long.
I've been thinking of bumping one particular thread; I prefer to use an existing discussion instead of starting a new topic. But now I'm a bit hesitant about what to do.
