Surprised we don't have one of these threads. My Girlfriend got this for me. It's fuckin rad.
Currently reading Elantris, I have Snow Crash to read after that.
we've had one off and on but it never gets many posts. Low turnover for this board I guess. :/Reading now? I finished most of the 40K Ciaphas Cain books and I have William Gibsons' Sprawl Trilogy sitting on my hard drive. I just have to find a decent way of changing the background color in an Adobe PDF.Piracy Funds Terrorism, Folks.
I need to read more, right now I'm jumping between a Splinter Cell book (Endgame) and John Hodgman's new book, which is hilarious.
>>3855I love the Complete World Knowledge books so hard. The little calender thingies in the margins are my favorite part of MITYR.
I'm just starting The Strain as we speak (well alright, as I type then). Just finished Daemon by Daniel Suarez, it wasn't bad.
A Journey to the West, R. F. Jenner translation.I gave up on this. I really don't understand how this got so many good reviews on Amazon. It's fucking horrendous. The person who translated it obviously wasn't a writer, and the text is filled with wordiness, redundancy, and unnecessary bullshit. The poetic verse which is scattered throughout the text has been translated in a way which completely destroys any metre or rhythm, when keeping it would have been a simple task.
Not reading it yet, but as soon as I obtain a copy I'm gonna tear into it. I'm disappointed in myself for not already owning these books.
Reading this, my cousin got me the first one for Christmas, and I got a $20 Borders gift card from someone else, which I used to buy the other 3.
>>3948Oh thanks for reminding me- I downloaded that movie because no theater near me had it. *grumble grumble*. I much prefer to see movies in theaters. I think I'll read the book at some point too.
Kickin' it old school.
I started reading The Plague but realised halfway through I wasn't in the mood for something quite as depressing as it was, so I dropped it for now.Reading Dune and a bunch of Discworld novels at the moment.
I'm about halfway through this by now. It's just awesome.
>>4009Does it ever talk about awkwardly fucking an 11 year old?
>>4018>awkwardly fuckingWhat? Lolita is 12 (and getting older), not 11, and yes, he talks about fucking her. No direct descriptions nevertheless.
I haven't read this series in years. I forgot how horribly violent this was.
And I do enjoy it. Amazing levels of gay and funny. Who would've guessed?
For History.
For English.
And I got to meet Charles Stross in person last night at a convention...he's a cool guy. Witty, insightful ("The invention of language was in itself a singularity." Like....dude), and he has charming UK accent.
For English.I'm having a hard time with it.
's okay, I guess. Funny enough. Pretty short, light stuff.
Pretty interesting book, I must say.Full title is "Who Controls the Internet: Illusions of a Borderless World."
F-fuck you, Cormac McCarthy. ;_;
>>4156Fuck yeah, Cormac McCarthy!
It's like I'm reading 4chan User: The Book.
God I love me some Terry Pratchett. Aw yeah.
Fuck this book. Fuck it up its pretentious, melodramatic, rambling, wangsting ass. Fuck my professor for the lady-boner she has over this author. Now I have to write a response to the book wherein I pretend I enjoyed it. brb, off to lie my way to a passing grade.
Crime and Punishment. Next up is Madame Bovary, and then The Picture of Dorian Grey.Any suggestion on what I should read next? I've already marked every book I haven't read in this thread. Yes, I binge read. Feels good.
Give this man a cigar.
Almost done; it's pretty neat.
Don't have an image but reading William Langer's European Alliance and Alignments.Suck it determinism!
So far it's kind of boring. Not really expecting much from it at this point.
I read far too fast to ever really be currently reading anything. If I start a book, chances are overwhelmingly good I'll finish it the same day or the day after. That said, I just read Changes by Jim Butcher, the 12th Dresden Files book. It was awesome.
I'm about halfway through. It's enjoyable so far.
Nearly done.
I got the one with the lame cover. Thoroughly enjoying it, nonetheless.
After this, Moby Dick, then On The Road. The maybe I'll read something written within the last 20 years
Reading on a whim. Surprised how much I'm enjoying it.
Finished Cat's Cradle. Gonna start on "And Another Thing".
Just finished Dorian Grey. it was weird
Finished European Alliances, Starting on Tyrone's rebellion.I love it when I'm so obviously reading a republished thesis that they didn't bother changing the font or format.
>>4592I've wanted to read that, and I like weird. Maybe I'll pick that up after I'm done with Moby Dick.
