Say, /op/, if Oda were to simply leave the original crew where they were, maybe checking up on them every year or so, I dunno, and simply continued on to the New World with this bunch (and Boa) as the Straw Hats...
Would that officially shoot him past Kubo in the trolling department?
I'd like to hear your opinions on what would happen if the Impel Down gang became the permanent Straw Hat Pirates.
I would honestly stop reading
Really? I'd be willing to keep reading. I find these guys very interesting; they're certainly (on average, at least) stronger and more suited to the New World than the original crew.
I wouldn't exactly WANT it to happen, but it's an intriguing possibility that I'd keep an eye on.
yeah, this, pretty much.
I mean, it's cool n' all that Boa Hancock, Jinbei, Law, and fucking Ivankov are all working together plus with the help of Inazuma and the Impel Down pirates. But, nothing, and I mean NOTHING can will come as close and as awesome as having the original team back together.
And I have no doubt that they won't, but I suspect it'll probably take a year n' a half.
I know I'm getting really tired of hearing WAH WAH WAH I WANT THE CREW BACK NOOOOOOWWWWW all the fucking time.
I don't think I'd be able to bear the whinesplosion.
I don't think Oda will just flat out DROP the rest of the Straw Hats at all and I'd be rather disappointed if he did, as there feels like there's still too much for him to do with them. That being said, I think I'd give the book a few chapters to sell me on WHY that kind of direction would be so much better. But it won't happen because Kubo's been building up too much shit (Read: >>4753) to just drop all the characters right now.
As much as I love the Straw Hats, this.
To be honest, it'd be extremely interesting and double edged, to say the least. I'm with Piggy in that I would definitely at least give Oda the benefit of the doubt and see where he's going with it.
FFFFFFUUUUUU- I really need to learn to proof read my posts.
I don't think the crew will get back together all at once. It will happen on a time table NONE of us predict, but I think it'll happen somewhat gradually.
It'll give Oda some chance for character development if he only gives back the original crew 1-2 at a time, as well as give some of the "new" characters from Impel down a chance to get development.
MErmaid Island. Now that brown beard has appeared they will all go there to kick ass.
Was that Mermaid island? The people that punk was attacking looked human, I thought it was just to represent one of the many misc islands that had been under WB's protection.
No those didn't look like mer/fish people, but Brownbeard might be headed that way and be the first hurdle into the new world.
Well, Bonchan is still not with Luffy, so I gotta say that either way I'd feel cheated.
Either way, though, I really love the groups. All of them, and it would break my heart to have the original gang never meet up again, but I seriously doubt that would happen considering just how much emphasis Oda placed on their friendship. So I'm going to enjoy seeing how Luffy does without them for awhile knowing that he'll find his first mate and favorite cook and navigator again.
I'm interested in finding out what some of the other groups are up to.
Where does Crocodile and the rest of the White Beard Pirates go? What happens to Buggy and Mr. 3? What's up with Zoro and Perona?
i'm with this guy, I have spent six years of my life watching these strawhats, read and reread, fell in and out of love with characters, and then Oda just drops them? no. I want them back within the next 5 chapters, or AT LEAST an update on them.
I think Buggy's gonna become Captain of all those prisoners. and Mr 3 will be his first mate/vice captain
None of them are going to take orders from Luffy, so that only leaves Mr. 3 and Bon Clay.
Mr. 3's planning and intellect are useful but only if he has enough pawns at his disposal.
Straw Hat Luffy. Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro. Cat Burglar Nami. Sogeking. Black Leg Sanji. Cotton Candy Lover Chopper. Demon Child Nico Robin. Cyborg Franky. Humming Brook. Together, this band of nine was known as the Straw Hat Pirate crew. Despite their humble origins in East Blue, they quickly became one of the most famous pirate crews on the ocean. Traveling down the Grand Line with their eyes set on the legendary One Piece, it seemed as though the world was their oyster.
However, all of that changed when an encounter with Bartholomew Kuma at Sabaody Archipelago left them defeated and scattered across the globe. Believing that their time as a crew was over, the Straw Hat Pirates decided to go their separate ways. Former captain Monkey D. "Strawhat" Luffy speaks on the separation.
Luffy: Well, I had plans to get the crew back together, but I got caught up in a lot of... life-changing events. My brother had just died, and I needed to do some serious soul-searching.
After his involvement in the war, Luffy was sent to Amazon Lily to recover. There, he underwent weeks of physical and mental therapy. During his stay, he entered a relationship with the local ruler, Boa Hancock. The two married just one year after his arrival.
Luffy: Hancock was there for me during a very dark period of my life; honestly, I don't know what I would have done without her.
However, Luffy was not ready to put his life of piracy behind him. In an effort to achieve closure over his brother’s death, he began to travel with the remaining Whitebeard Pirates, along with former Warlord Jinbei. Together, they attempted to return order to what was once Whitebeard’s protected territory.
Luffy: Sailing with the Whitebeard crew really helped me reconnect with the old me. I felt like I was really doing something with myself again. I got to see the world, meet new people, get in fights… It was wonderful to be a pirate again. But it was never quite the same as it used to be. That’s why we’re doing this.
Midway through his run with the Whitebeard Pirates, Luffy was seized by the desire to bring the Straw Hat crew back together again. He began to formulate a plan that would eventually lead to the Staw Hat reunion, which is now finally underway.
Luffy: It’s going to be huge! We’re going to get everyone from the old days, we’re all going to be on the Thousand Sunny again, there’s going to be adventure, there’s going to be fights… We’ve all been looking forward to this. You don’t want to miss it!
Coming up next: the other Straw Hat pirates discuss their lives after Sabaody.
Sanji: I don’t want to talk about it. I… I’m not gonna talk about it.
Only on A Pirate’s Life!
