307 IS OUT ON THE 25TH
ARE YOU READY MOTHERFUCKERS!?!?
All the plot and story is annoying, needs more kawii ~uguu
Son, I Am Disappoint.
HELL YES MOTHERFUCKERS!
FUCK ALL OTHER MANGA, BERSERK IS THE BEST!
Oh Wow, it feels like forever since Coraline images popped up.
He put down his idolmaster copies finally? I gave up reading it because he went on hiatus for that.
>I gave up reading it because he went on hiatus for that
>gave up reading
I have no idea what you are talking about, just read Berserk, it's amazing.
Kentaro Miura bought a bunch of dating sims "because he was lonely" and put Berserk on another hiatus not 2 months after it restarit had come out of another hiatus.
He's gonna pull an Edmund Spencer and die before he finishes, isn't he?
Yeah, I wouldn't bother treating that as something more than an amusing topic to joke about. If there's really a crisis in Miura's creative drive, then this business with idolmaster is at worst a trivial initial symptom.
Story's been transpiring on an epic scale, which means epic scenes, which means pages whose level of detail matches those found in a Where's Waldo book.
That being said: I'm worried that we'll now have half a volume of fights with sea monsters before we finally reach Elfheim.
>because he was lonely
no man this fucking creative should be alone
Also he was addicted to Nico Nico Douga vids
>He's gonna pull an Edmund Spencer and die before he finishes, isn't he?
I've heard from a person who studied Miura's influences that it's not likely he's actually planning on Berserk to ever end.
Granted, that's not saying the story isn't every going to go anywhere, just that he probably won't even start plans for an ending for a long time.
TOMORROW MOTHERFUCKERS, TOMORROW!
It appears Griffith's New World Architecture bears striking resemblance to Rome before the fall.
Actually judging by the Shields and Helmets I'd say that was more a Greek influence, specifically Classical Greece though the arches do have a certain Roman taste I admit. The 'griffins' however make no sense in either cultures case but in this psudo-medieval setting it is understandable that they would appear.
I believe the Griffens signafy Griffith, and that being his Kingdom.
-sits back and enjoys own lack of speed-
I seriously need to get up to date on this manga. So, so, so fucking epic. The anime is just about as awesome, if I do say so myself, but BERSERK ITSELF YEAH MO FOS YEAH
Just... yeah. Wish people would pay a bit more attention to it.
About as awesome? Seriously?
It's not a bad adaption, it's just limited to a fraction of what the manga has to offer in terms of plot, action, etc.
It's out! It's mindblowing! It's awesome! In ten days we get a new chapter that kicks off the Elf Island arc!
Loved the narration here. When manga creators actually do their research on foreign cultures, the results always seem to be kickass. Works for FMA, worked for Hellsing. . .
Anyone have a link to a decent scanlation? Spectrum Nexus' volume 2 is fucking horrible.
3 MORE DAYS!
It's out on Spectrum!
Good, Guts, you look kinda INCREDIBLY BADASS.
>I'm worried that we'll now have half a volume of fights with sea monsters before we finally reach Elfheim.
I made this comment a week back, but it's honestly been weighing on my mind ever since they got on that ship over a year back. I've been gripped with the fear of slogging through through 5 chapters of them fighting off sea monsters. And wouldn't you know it. . .
I'm OK with this.
At first I was like 'god Caska that expression on your face makes you look retarded' and then I was like ':('
The only thing i regret about this new arc is that there will be no more awesome Kushan demons but the harpies, hydras, dragons and unicorns are making up for it....
NEW CHAPTER OUT, BITCHES
Fuck yeah, undead with beards!
Oh god, all the reactions in that last panel are awesome. Especially Azan. Please let him join the group. . .
Yes. Yes. YES.
Haha each of those panels makes a good reaction image
I just noticed Isidoro going "Wassup" in the third panel. Damn, Evil Genius does awesome translations.
Yeah EG is great.
I agree with you about Azan, I've been hoping he joins the group for a long time now both for the lulz and for the extra muscle.
Jesus Christ, that fucker just WILL NOT DIE.
GOD YES, Azan is amazing.
I don't read Berserk, but I just had to post this.
Bored, so I think I shall dump all the cool fanart I found on Pixiv here.
STARTING A BERSERK FOLDER!
The eyes on this one seem off, but overall I like it.
I don´t have much Berserk fanart but I´ll post em anyways and hope you haven´t already
Should have posted this on Halloween. Oh well.
I can't believe that even knowing she's made out of Troll intestines people find her attractive.
Welcome to fandom!
I can believe it; you have the good fortune of both not having to smell the troll intestines and it being in black and white, for one thing.
Looks like the pixiv trawl I did has some ones you skipped/missed (and vice versa, so thanks)
sup plus4chan's /jam/! I'm just here to bump this thread with some interesting news you might not have seen yet.
Please note that EvilGenius mistranslated a comment from Miura in the last release saying something about a Berserk anime being canceled. Here's the correct translation of that comment.
>It's nothing new to say this, but anime series with a fighting man as the hero are almost dead (not popular anymore, he uses the word "destroyed", such a thing) these days, though I think there are still some people who want this kind of anime."
The translations from Evil Genius and especially TheHawks are actually not that great, and I think this is a good example. :<
We already have the Golden Age.
Really I could see the "Obvious Christian Church Allegory" story being done in a 27 episode series.
Oh, and for anybody that wants a more in-depth answer about the whole Idolm@ster bullshit, the post in this picture overexplains it for you. In short though, it was just one or two comments Miura made about buying the game and liking MADs.
I'd personally like it to start from the beginning, or at least redo the whole Blackswordsman arc to introduce Puck, and maybe a flashback of the Skull Knight saving Guts and Casca to introduce him. I'd love to see the Wyald part animated though. I truly do want to see Skully appearing in front of Femto animated though. I don't care how, even if it's just that scene.
I was looking for that thank you.
I think I have a new OTP.
Also FUCK YEAH good work on the fan art dump.
I have a good amount of Berserk art I can dump too~
oh fuck year! Nobody will fuck with your pumpkins now.
Oh Japan, you so crazy.
I guess Flora passed more than her magic on to Schierke. :<
Berserk 310 on the 22nd of this month!
The RAW is out if your interested
HOLY SHIT ALREADY!? THIS IS AWESOME!
...and I just got banned automatically on 4chan for posting that link, stupid shit. Not that most of /a/ deserves this, but still. Didn't know that was a bannable site.
Gutts kicking ass. It's been awhile.
Oh. Oh yes. It's been quite a while.
He even remembered to not really think about civilian casualties. God, it's. . .good to have him back.
Also, fuck year Roderick.
He is a cool guy.
Roderick is a true bro! When he was first introduced I thought he'd be some dickish nobleman trying to steal Farny away, now I'm rooting for them to get together! He's a badass sea captain!
Yeah he's nothing like Farnese' actual brother.
Wow, The Mist totally lifted this thing from Berserk.
Raws are out on Raw Paradise!
Slight synopsis for those who can't wait.
The ghost ship flees because the sun is rising, apparently. Roderick's ship needs repairs and so they stop by a mysterious island. Puck & Isidro encounter the strange girl while Casca & Farnese find a place where a sort of "sea god" is worshipped.
Episode 312 comes out on the 26th
inb4 the Sea God is Cthulhu
Hmm, a mysterious village where none of the townsfolk will talk them, it's on an island in the middle of the ocean, and at the end we see an ancient looking, giant creature's eye...
I think we're on the same page.
Perhaps the sight of it will drive Casca sane.
I think that with the Idea of Evil, we're pretty much good on that sort of thing from Berserk.
So. . .conflicted. . . .
As someone who loves dark fantasy adventures, woohoo!
As someone who loves these characters. . .fffffffuuuuuuuuck.
Also, new character! Dem freckles and sideboob~
I'm wondering if she'll be like Jill or Luca and just a sidecharacter for a bit, or if she'll be sticking around longer.
She kinda reminds me of Lee Kanker from Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy.
FFFFFFFFFF CAN'T UNSEE NOW!
At first I was reminded of Urabe Mikoto from Mysterious Girlfriend X...
She's either a monster or the puppet of one.
We'll probably be getting some sort of preview of 312 soon! Any predictions on what might happen? I'm hoping for Farnese to start showing off her training, whether it's because she wants to, or because she's forced to in some way. Also, Schierke summoning something would be fucking awesome too!
No predictions. As soon as I start thinking about lovecraftian shenanigans involving any/all of our heroes, my mind just goes blank with :D.
This is gonna be bad. And awesome. And really, really bad. And really, really awesome.
312 is out on Raw Paradise!
looks like the girl is the sea god! Or at least some other sort of astral creature We'll have to wait to know in full since Berserk is on a break in prepublication again now for an undetermined amount of time. Let's hope for a short break! ;_;
>Complete with Guts bein' all genre savvy
>Not to mention Miura doing his always-welcome original twists on western lore, like the fish jaws.
I dunno, seems more like she's got some mystic connection going without necessarily being evil.
Yeah, I think now that she's some sort of spiritual creature that may have been locked away before the wind, or maybe a witch like Schierke... we'll see after the, hopefully, short break.
Seems the girl is most likely either a witch or a sea spirit. The symbol on her door has icons representing the four cardinal directions, kinda like what Schierke did when making a protective circle. I think she's using this to protect herself from the Sea God's influence, and it's the reason she hasn't changed yet.
I STILL say she's the sea god in human form. I don't buy that anything Miura sells unless it's been thoroughly inspected.
New spoilers out:
She's a minor demon serving the sea god, Ishidro kills her.
Really now? I totally believe you! Good thing it isn't ISIDRO doing it, he'd be devastated!
Anyway, being a fag and posting what I just got in the mail this morning.
Seriously, these things are fucking awesome!
I got them at Hobby Link Japan, but they're out of stock now sadly. They're about the same price here anyway.(too much for somebody in their right mind)
Hey guys just bumping this thread with some small ne- HOLY SHIT NEW BERSERK GAME FOR PSP!
Not known if it's a port yet, but the text talks about Puck healing and subweapons and there's a mention of Miura's name in it as well, maybe talking about how he helped work on it(like the last two games). One of the screenshots has Puck flying around with Guts in it, which the PS2 game didn't, he was a summon.... can't wait for more info.
Well, two weeks of archive binging later, I have finally caught up. And I think I need to lie down. Because shit, son.
Is there a place where I can read this online? I hate downloading, but DO want to see this.
So nobody told me that Ghost Rider was in this. Dear god I'm loving this manga.
That's The Skull Knight and he's the best character in the whole series.
Well I certainly didn't see THAT coming from the king.
Wow this manga has bigger balls than anything else I have ever read, and from what I've heard it only gets more insane from here.
I've just seen the Black Dog Knights in action by the way.
Oh god those guys. They aren't the WORST you'll see in Berserk (haha no), but they're up there.
Their leader's definitely got a place in the top 5 on the That Fucker scale.
Rodyle, please do keep posting reactions as you go. These things are always better as a shared experience.
Oh I thought I was being annoying so I stopped, but in that case:
THAT FUCKING ECLIPSE HOLY FUCK THAT WAS THE MOST METAL SHIT I HAVE EVER READ
As far as the Black Dogs go, the whole scene with the family is probably never going to leave my head. In terms of sheer horror/disgust it outweighs pretty much everything else I've seen. Even the Eclipse was weighed out by Guts channeling pure rage and how AMAZING the visuals were.
Also I've been taking an unusual number of screencaps. I don't usually bother doing that myself.
So has there been any exposition into the other members of the Godhand?
OH MAN, you are gonna love Mozgus.
Yeah... so I've heard. Based on the spoilers I've had he doesn't sound nearly so rape and dismemberment happy though.
So correct me if I'm wrong but the fetus is how Griffith returns to human form later on right?
No arc with "Lost Children" in the title can be a good thing, especially not in Berserk.
I'm not going to correct you because I don't want to ruin a surprise.
Haha oh wow, why do people hate Puck again?
It's amazing how accurate that RAGE RAGE PUCK MORE RAGE description really is.
He's like the Energizer Bunny of pure hate.
Nobody worth a damn hates Puck.
I've never read this. I want to. Where can I find scans of the old stuff?
This is where I'm reading it:
AWWW HELL YEAH!
I have no idea. He's one of my favorite characters, honestly. This manga is so grim it would probably drive me to suicide, but then suddenly PUCK, making me laugh my ass off.
Also, lest we forget, D'AWWWW LOOKIT HIS LEETLE FAAACE
Hell yeah he is.
Just starting it now--
OH GOD WHAT IS GOING ON
MC Escher: The Manga
I seriously don't like sad stories, but this is one of the most amazing things I've ever read. The art and fight scenes alone are worth it, to say nothing of how great the story and characters are.
I think it helps that while it's bleak, it's not hopelessly so. The Lost Children and Conviction arcs both end on optimistic notes.
That whole thing still made no sense to me. Did he just HAPPEN to be there and throw the sword from a huge distance because he finds Guts amusing?
FUCK YEAH SKULL KNIGHT
I think he was watching Guts from afar. Maybe he had been ever since they fought for the first time.
Guts was the first interesting thing to happen for Zodd in several centuries, it would have been a shame to see him do down because of a random moment of bad luck.
I think Zodd probably showed up to watch because he knew there was going to be a major military showdown involving the Hawks, and that he'd likely done the same a few times before. We haven't seen any evidence that he's constantly stalking Guts.
I didn't mean constantly stalking, I just meant that he'd had his eye on him ever since. Show up to watch whenever he knew something big involving the Hawks was going down.
Hooray all the secondary characters survived that mini eclipse or whatever just happened. Course, now that acrobat guy Guts fought in the tournament a long time ago is back with the Kushan army and it looks like Guts and Casca's fetus demon turned into Griffith.
Who the fuck is this guy!?
And no less than one page after typing that Zodd and Skull Knight stumble in and shit starts falling apart again.
The old ruler of the word who was supposedly wiped out by angels I think.
PREPARE FOR ONE OF THE MOST INSANE THINGS YOU WILL EVER READ
Ah, you've reached THAT volume.
All of God Hand's names were taken from various sci-fi novels. Conrad's is from Roger Zelazny's ...And Call Me Conrad.
Void is my favourite God hand
But Void isn't Slan.
Same here, I love the Exposed brain and elongated limbs look.
Their names are SciFi book references.
> His name is borrowed from Roger Zelazny's ...And Call Me Conrad.
yeah, it's extremely likely and a pretty much excepted as fact at this point that Skully is Gaiseric
Also, to add to the 'Zodd stalking Guts' thing and some more theories about Griffith and the Moonlight Child....
Oh, and to help avoid confusion... it's Ubik, not Ubrik, Guts, not Gatts/Gatsu/Gutts/etc, Casca, and when you get to them it's Schierke, and Isidro.
TL;DR version: Scanlators are idiots who can't get names right even when they have an official spelling from the author. I could go on rants about why the scanlations are horrible... but I'll just leave you with how they translated the song "15 men on a dead man's chest"
Yeah, I remember a lot of scanlations leaving me dazed and confused.
And that one...
Musashi you're kinda fucked
Not to mention they mistransted some lines from Zodd and Skully during the Eclipse that kinda change shit around.
Zodd is supposed to be saying that Skull Knight has opposed them for a thousand years, in the scanlations he says for THOUSANDS of years... that's a pretty big difference
Also, Skull Knight says "You've been assigned as a watchdog then?" and in the scanlations he says "So you've been assigned by the gatekeeper?"
Once again leads to confusion... there's a lot of things like that mixed throughout the story especially during the Golden Age, one of which is Griffith's speech to Charlotte(can't remember exactly what offhand) which is kinda one of the most important things in the whole series.
Okay so I'm on Volume 24 now and am fairly certain that yes, this does summarize the whole series.
...hang on. Are these scanlations ACTUALLY using the font from Earthbound?
You cannot grasp the true form of God Hand's attack!
What more can I say?
What's up with that kid anyway? What's the implication here? Are we gonna see him again? Becuase goddamn he's so cute. And Casca taking care of him and being all motherly and it's all so D'AWWW ;_;
He was the fetus that Casca gave birth to and followed Guts around. The theory going around is that he's to serve as a vessel for Griffith, I think.
Well, the fetus was used to give Griffith a new body.
In volume 22 when he appears before Guts and Casca, Casca senses her child and rushes towards Griffith, some falling debris from Guts and Zodd fighting nearly lands on Casca and Griffith acts on a feeling from the child and saves her.
There are only theories about what this moonlight child really is, most people agree that it's somehow split from Griffith or Griffith may have even transformed into it(against his will or not... don't know yet). You can see Zodd on the cliff there when they find the moonlight child meaning he was watching over it.
In any case, the fact that Griffith used that child to be reborn and that he has reacted to feelings from it leads many to believe that it's going to be his downfall or at least contribute to it.
>In volume 22 when he appears before Guts and Casca, Casca senses her child and rushes towards Griffith, some falling debris from Guts and Zodd fighting nearly lands on Casca and Griffith acts on a feeling from the child and saves her.
I forgot all about that. I really need to re-read the whole series.
OH FUCK, IS THAT WHO I THINK IT IS
Jesus christ this girl has issues.
I am tripping so many balls you have no idea.
Don't worry, there are still many more balls to trip.
Holy shit, this bitch is crazy!
I have to sadly, no time for Berserk today so I'll have to wait for a chance to start volume 26.
It really is best to take it a bit slow anyway, you'll miss out on a lot and end up catching up in order to wait for releases... which sucks.
Mother of god.
And that is how you make your fucking move, am I right?
I love that spread so much
Very poor choice of words, there.
So in lieu of some sleep, I'm going to read volume 26 tonight. In the middle of it now and I find Slan calling Skull Knight "Your Majesty" rather telling. I'm curious as to what the real story of the old empire's destruction is. Seeing as how God in Berserk is literally the reason for all the evil things in the world, God's wrath was just due to Skull Knight being a ruler of justice. But then again there's still no end in sight and I'm not done with what exists so far, so we'll see.
Oh fuck. inb4 "I ATTACK THE DARKNESS"
I see you've met Ganishka.
Very awesome part of the story! I wish there was a good way to translate those parts where Skully is talking, it's a bit hard though. In Japanese, apparently, both Skully and Ganishka speak in some ancient-as-fuck dialect that is pretty hard to translate into English at times, pretty much think Old English, but a specific dialect for those of royal bearing. He also speaks in riddles a lot, which are hard enough to translate without it being in THAT sort of dialect... anyway I'm rambling
I skipped The Golden Age because I watched theAnime first, is there anything I missed by doing so?
I haven't watched the anime but, from what I've heard, it cuts out the birth of Guts as well as experiencing PTSD from his past rape while having sex with Casca. Nothing especially crucial to the plot at hand, but pretty important to understanding the characters, IMO, especially the latter scene.
It also cuts out most of the supernatural elements- no skull knight or wyald- as well as most of the crazier elements of the action (no kushans anywhere, for example).
Basically, you got 95% of the plot details plus 50% of the visceral "holy crap the things I'm seeing are awesome" by watching the anime instead.
Most of the supernatural stuff, plus a fair bit of the sexual stuff and the Count arc.
Did Guts just cut lightning while surfing on the back of a flying Bear/Minotaur?
This is not merely a manga. It is a religious experience.
I prefer to look at it this way: Guts killed a thunderstorm by stabbing it in the face.
While surfing on the back of a flying Bear/Minotaur.
That would indeed be a better way to put it. Also I'm now on the (presumably last) battle between Ganishka/the Kushans and the Band of the Hawk/Vatican Army and all I can say is <--
Actually I spoke too soon, that was a short and anti-climactic end.
Of course, something completely insane seems to be coming from that now, but it doesn't seem related to the war itself.
I AM SO STONED RIGHT NOW
So he destroyed the border of fantasy and reality just to build himself a nice house.
Wow Griffith, just... wow.
Well I'm caught up now. I'm going to have to join the "Isma is Cthulhu" camp.
MC Escher drawing part 2
Just as planned
I wonder if anything is ever going to come of this. It's long enough ago that it's safe to assume that the author either forgot about it or never planned on doing more with it from the beginning, but it would be pretty cool.
. . .Oh fuck.
The rules have just changed enough for that little girl to be a potential threat.
Yeah, I'm hoping that plot thread gets picked up again.
I don't really think that was meant to be major foreshadowing or anything, just showing the effect that Guts had on that town, and to show Guts feeling remorse for what he did. If you think about it she's just a teenage girl on her own, with her castle completely destroyed, and in a town full of people who hated and feared her father. You never know though, but I won't be surprised if she doesn't show up. Also, where did you get those scans from? I haven't really seen them floating around much and am wondering why people still post/read the older shitty ones...
Anyway, coming with some horrible news, that Berserk PSP game magazine picture is a fake April Fool's Day joke made by the admins at Skullknight.net. They went as far as to spread it to 2ch first, wait for it to be reposted on SK.net, hype it up and act excited, make a red herring April Fool's Day joke, and then reveal it was a fake.
I'm not too worked up over this news if only because I'm still mourning over the lack of PS2 game over here.
I got all my scans from #lurk. For the first three volumes, after seeing how shitty the scanlations were, I downloaded the DCP scans, which are scans of the Dark Horse releases.
>They went as far as to spread it to 2ch first
Well, actually, he didn't spread it there... he just somehow tricked a member into thinking they found it there... don't even ask, those guys are some high level Causality manipulators or something.
you can read the thread about it here, and see the procedure they went through. It's really ingenious and took a good amount of (evil) work.
New chapter should be up soon bump.
Umm, I hope so anyway...
Sorry bro, didn't mean to get your hopes up.
No news on a new release... it's not on the "next" preview for the May 14th issue of Young Animal. We'll know then if it will be in the May 28th issue...
So Deepfag, you're the Berserk expert, I was watching this and am curious: Is the Berserk game actually any good?
I hear it was.
I think Miura had a hand in the script, too.
Am I the only one that thought Ganishka was a pretty neat concept? An Apostle who, due to his power among men, stood against other Apostles and the God Hand.
Granted, he was still a complete bastard, but less so than Griffith in my opinion.
The only bigger bastard than Griffith was Wyald.
Yeah, he was pretty cool.
I just realized how much you can tell about a character purely by his or her reaction to Puck.
I was so sad to see him die.
How old are the party members anyway?
Am I the only one who finds it kind of weird that puck's looked less and less human over time? I mean, he's always popped into weird-bulbous-shape mode from time to time, but that's all he ever is these days.
This thread clearly lacks HAIII YAIII FOOOORCES
It's not just you.
Oh well, the one I posted is a different version.
Stupid sexy Silatt
I think he appears just as often as he used to, but his super deformed shape has changed over time. In the Lost Children Chapter he was in a perpetual state of somewhere between super deformed and regular the entire time.
I haven't actually played the Berserk games, but I've heard the Dreamcast one is really good and has a story written by Miura, and that the PS2 game has some good boss fights, but gets a bit repetitive.
And the Dreamcast one got released in the U.S. too, didn't it?
Brb ebay...though I should probably focus on getting my hands on the system itself first. Damn.
The Dreamcast game is a mediocre beat em up with a stupid story and is only notable for the FUCK YEAH I AM GUTS factor.
PS2 game supposedly plays a lot better.
I've just finished rereading it and I noticed two interesting things:
A: I can no long enjoy the Golden Age, not even a little. Maybe it's because I know that it's all going to end in a giant mess, or maybe it's because all the monsters in the Dark Age make the human vs human combat in the Golden Age seem really boring, I don't know.
B. I forgot how crazy Guts used to be. Seriously, Lost Children makes him seem like a horrible armored boogeyman.
I thought the ending to that part was a great way to show how human Guts still is, and that he really can care about people. The way he talks to Jill gets me every time. The part after really makes it feel like he has no chance in the world to even get near Griffith though, and it's the first appearance of the Beast of Darkness. You're making me wanna reread too! I'll have to wait for my brother to get caught up so I can have all my volumes back.
Oh God Guts, I love seeing him get like that and pull himself with pure Humanity back from the Brink.
Berserk is going to be in Young Animal 13 on the 25th of this month! Also, coming up this Friday in YA 12 is a oneshot Miura drew criticizing a censorship reform bill.
The picture is causing a shitstorm on /a/ and of course Sankaku had to make an article out of it, the usual stuff being thrown around like calling Miura a moefag, "moe is ruining Berserk," etc.
Oh hey, the first update since I started reading Berserk. I'm excited.
New Berserk coming soon! Have an awesome picture from /a/'s recent drawfag threads(we're on the 43rd chained one now in a row) that I requested.
I like Berserk but I'm just...finding it hard to care anymore because the chapters take so long to come out
I don't feel the same at all, but I have been dealing with it for years already anyway, so I've gotten used to it. as much as I hate to say this, don't be disappointed if there's another break in 3-4 releases
Aww yeah!Isma being silly, Isma swimming, villagers about to start some shit, Guts about to cut some shit. Can't wait for the full episode!
Does anyone here play Mount&Blade? (original, not Warband)
If so, check out the Mods section.
I didn't just play it, I made my second character an AU Caska.
Some random fucks already scanlated 313, even though I haven't seen raws online yet, WATERMARKS ABOUND!
Aww yeah, Isma backstory, I knew she wasn't somehow part of the Sea God, unless she's lying or leaving info out... MORE SEA CUCUMBER SLICING ACTION ON THE 9TH OF JULY!
Okay so yeah it's Shadow Over Innsmouth, pretty much exactly what we thought.
But yeah looks like you were right about Isma at least.
Jesus christ, those are some obnoxious watermarks.
AHHHH SHIT YEAR!
GUTS BUSTIN' OUT THE THROWING KNIVES!
Guys. . .I think we're finally seeing a Guts that can kick ass on a level comparable to the Lost Children & Millennium Falcon arcs.
>my face when people think Berserk didn't slide into an irreversible downward spiral in quality ever since Griffith got resurrected
I am disappoint, guys. :/
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome this is.
Considering that we just finished the Millenium Falcon arc and just started this one, I should hope so.
Has there been a drop in his ability to deal with crazy demon shit that wasn't Zod or the God Hand?
U a punk busta bitch ass.
Shut the hell up.
I am officially fed up to the gills with people bitching about how a series has Gone Downhill. It doesn't matter how true it is, objectively *or* subjectively. When your response to a discussion on some aspect of the manga is to do nothing but whine vaguely about how it relates to the series not being as good as it used to be, you are not saying anything worth saying.
People enjoying a manga despite some changes in it that you are unable to handle for some reason? My friend, you need to...
Well you know, obviously Griffith was never going to get his kingdom even though that's the entire reason the Idea of Evil fucking made him. We really just need it to be stuck in a perpetual hell of guts running around with no real direction again because GOD FORBID he should have any idea how to effectively challenge the God Hand.
That's par for the course on Cosmic Horror.
You need to be more than one dude with a sword to screw those rules.
Berserk isn't really Cosmic Horror, even though the Godhand are very Eldritch monsters.
A major component in Cosmic Horror is the existence of all of humanity as a whole being insignificant to those Eldrich creatures and the universe as a whole, but the demons in Berserk need humanity because it's what gives them new members and they (or rather their need for a cause for their suffering) are the reason the Idea of Evil exists in the first place.
Yay! New Preview of 314. Looks like some Guts and Serpico action is going on!
Aaaand looks like the ghost ship might be CLIMBING THE CLIFFS towards Isidro, Schierke, and Isma! Also Guts reloading his cannon arm!
FUCK YES SERPICO YOU ARE THE BEST COMPANION
>Looks like we'll have to wait for the next episode before we see the Sea God!
>Anyway, Magnifico tells Guts to use the armor like he did in Vritannis but Farnese strongly objects, saying that Schierke warned against it and so on. Meanwhile the kids are witnessing the ghost ship's approach from afar.
Yeah, Fuck using the armor on those weak ass Tentacles, it fucks Guts up way too much to use willy nilly, hell he only has one eye and it's going blind because of that armor.
Sadly, it's the pattern. Gotta get used to it. 3-5 releases, 2-4 month break, rinse, and repeat. Been going on for years now. I'd say it has to do with Miura laying out the groundwork for the rest of the series as carefully as possible, so we can have an ass-pull free ending. In any case, DEAL WITH IT ;_; or feel crushed and sad every time it happens
In any case, it looks like whatever is coming up in the ship there is a sort of crustacean or something...
Oh, and GUTS USING THE ARMOR! This could lead to bad things, what with it being a full moon and them surrounded by the ocean again. Only the Moon Light Boy was able to stop him last time really, so will Schierke be up to the task this time?
He's porting the berserk mod to warband at the moment actually
FUCK MAN, his eye was already starting to go before this, my guess is the price is full blindness.
Christ, this series gets more and more boring with each arc. Enough with the filler already. To think i used to be a raging fanboy for this series.
Before any one goes into tirades of "SENOR IS TROLL!"
he kinda has a point, this sort of thing wouldn't be so glaring if it came out often and we just got off of a massive exciting arc, but we got "Griffith has his Kingdom, an awesome character who provided a nice non-Griffith antagonist is a chump."
So we get this nice little break story and it feels like...I dunno, that feeling of trying to get Ketchup from a Glass bottle if you turn it straight up.
We're just waiting on things to wait on.
Unless some crazy stuff starts happening this is feeling tedious.
I'm still balls bursting excited for the new chapter.
I thought that Gutts and Griffith were about to come to some sort of head soon, I can't see this mermaid story contributing anything beyond another monster of the year (because lets not kid, this is all we're getting for the next year at the least). The waiting just isn't being rewarded, the whole Kushan invasion was limp and undeveloped, Hawks fighting them looked nice, but lacked any weight behind it. We STILL haven't got any idea what Griffith is doing, or any indication of the Hawks plan at all. That's what I'm interested in, not these stupid kids following Gutts around. Hopefully this mermaid thing results in all the kids getting eaten, Gutts decides "fuck it" and goes back to beat the shit out of Griffith.
Also Fantasia is doing the opposite of what I want from Berserk, I don't want MORE monsters, I want more character study. I am so sick of monsters.
It's not the more monsters that's bugging me, it's the less story behind them, they aren't people via for wants and needs taking a horrible turn on the roads of fate culminating in horrid sacrifice that cause them to bear a personification of their horrid deeds, but straight up monster, look at Griffith's new band and the monsters in it and look at Gar's nose hordes and monsters, who did you feel for watch that battle? I can think of only 3 characters in that fight I gave a damn about.
Look at this new monster thing, the only person I care about is captain StARRRGHeotype.
Usually we would see this town decent in to being monsters, though the story isn't over, we could get some development, but when you are fighting a SEA GOD it just seems like a waste to have it a giant hermit crab in a ship shell, hopefully we get some development on it.
The thing that's keeping me with the arc is the toll it's taking on Guts' body, he just heal and his eye is starting to go blind, his hearing is going, etc.
That's why I'm interested right now, but still perturbed by the sluggish story pace.
Sluggish you say? I think you'll find this image interesting in that regard... kinda. Also, it's not really going slow, this is normal for Berserk really. You never know how important a part of the story will be until it's over, I mean look at Slan and the trolls, people fucking HATED that chapter of the story and thought Berserk was finished then. This is an interesting way of showing off the effects of the new world really. Think about it. They're by the sea, on a full moon(both of which increase magic potency), they are showing the effects of the merging on Guts, a magical creature(Isma), a mythological god, Schierke's magic, and to top it all off it's a place where Farnese might get to show off what she's learned so far. Release pacing sucks though.
You know who I'd like an update on? Rickert.
I have to wonder what it was like for readers back when the Golden Age arc was still a work in progress.
>"WHEN THE FUCK IS THIS FLASHBACK GOING TO END?!"
>It's not the more monsters that's bugging me, it's the less story behind them, they aren't people via for wants and needs taking a horrible turn on the roads of fate culminating in horrid sacrifice that cause them to bear a personification of their horrid deeds
I can only think of three characters who fit this description: The Count, Rosine, and Ganishka. Arguably Griffith as well.
Also lol at complaining about this in the same breath as complaining about Ganishka corking it. Ganishka who brought us waves of deadly tigers and elephants.
>We STILL haven't got any idea what Griffith is doing
He got his fucking kingdom and allowed the God Hand to manifest directly into the physical world. What's so hard to understand about that?
Hey guys, good news about the break! Volume 35 has a set release date of September 29th and needs one more release in order to be a complete volume, meaning that Berserk will be back before September. It's possible that the next episode will be released on August 27th, if not then it will be on September 10th or 24th. Not TOO long to wait!
Also, on August 6th Miura will be doing something with the monthly magazine Young Animal Arashi, probably a guest cover or something.
True that you kinda have me by the bawls there, but I will say it's in fitting with Gar's status as EMAPRAR, so it's more excusable, but still ya got me.
Yeah, I think the release pacing is what's really bugging me.
There is no "Old Berserk" vs "New Berserk." There's only "what you binged" and "what you've had to follow by releases."
I don't think you got it Chief, this was never a an "old VS New" bullshit thing, this was a "The story has become even more gratingly slow seeming than usual because it feels like the current story arc is boring, the slow release doesn't help" kinda deal where we just came off a big story line that kinda felt like a bit of a let down. Like Deep said, this is our chance to see the effects the big story line are having.
Anyone who makes an Old VS New? Nah man, just don't do it.
I will say this though, I don't know If anyone will agree, Tentacle Critters are definitely the most boring enemies Guts has ever had to chop his way through hordes of in my opinion.
We'll see. There's a chance there's still more to them than we've seen so far.
yeh, guts goes down to fight the heart of the beast only to find FILLER in giant letters
Now see, this is why no one treats you as a serious poster.
It seems that the sea god controls a fuckton of minions including the sea cucumbers, giant slugs, and who knows what else I wonder if it even had a physical body or if it is more of a spirit like the ones Schierke summons, which would explain why the Merrows would be able to seal it.
SWEET, Getting a little more diversity than the boring tentacles should liven this up a bit.
"boohoo no fun allowed comics are serious business"
>He thinks that's going to make anyone mad!
What are you babbling about?
You actually think being a snarky smart ass is fun for everyone?
Sorry, I forget this board is a bunch of butthurt crybabies who get offended at everything
It seems to be more that you're simply a needlessly combative and overall unpleasant person
Quit feeding the Senor.
Jesus Christ is this your first time playing internet or something?
So I make a simple joke, you all rally round to insult me, and I'm the bad guy?
You need to get over yourselves
That's right, you are the bad guy. You troll constantly and never make any effort towards real discussion. Fucking Jim Profit is better than you are.
Senor usually makes one or two harmless posts per thread; bad things only happen when people try to "call him out" or something. You can't fight Senor, guys. You just can't win against him. Let the man voice his opinions and maybe counter with your own, but never try to attack him directly. Everyone's better off that way.
If you think that's a joke, you need to learn how to communicate with others.
In case you haven't noticed, you're not very good at it.
>10 Anon: bawwwwwwwww
>20 Senor: u mad?
>30 Anon: BAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
>40 Senor: u mad
>50 GOTO 10
Simplifying things makes it accurate.
You're being trolled by Senor. This is DEAD accurate.
I'd just like to point out one thing: we don't put up with Moe or Coffin Cat, why do we put up with Senor?
What are you talking about? Moe and Toxie are just like anyone else, so is Senor.
Man, they aren't trolls, they are just blunt people. It's silliness to make them out to be giant trolls or anything like that.
Senor is serious about half the time, and trolling the other half. Wouldn't be a problem except that he can perform a 180 degree switch at the drop of a hat.
You're joking if you think Moe isn't a troll.
You ever talk to Larry? He's a pretty good guy.
So I'll be trolled.
What matter is it of yours?
I dunno, what are your thoughts on Curly?
CUM'ER YOU CHOWDA HEAD!
>Nico Nicholson's little strips about Miura look both funny and interesting, though most of the information seems to be old news so far (Kouji Mori was his schoolmate, he based the original prominent members of the Band of the Falcon on his highschool friends, during drawing sessions the assistants all sleep together at the studio, his favorite manga are The Rose of Versailles and Hokuto no Ken, etc.).
>The new YA also has a confirmation that volume 35 is coming out on September 29, however Berserk will not be present in YA #18 (released on September 10), so I'm not sure what that entails regarding the volume... Either episode 316 will be in YA #19 (released on September 24) and 5 days later in the volume, or the volume will only have 9 episodes. Which would suck so much I don't even want to think about it.
It would suck?
I don't mind it, as long as Miura does not stop creating high-quality artwork and the pacing of the story does not slow down.
Well, it seems like we will only have 9 episodes in this volume. Berserk isn't coming out on the 10th or 24th... damn, I was hoping for a nice and short break. Hopefully this means they'll fill the gap with something interesting at least, maybe the world guide! Which would force a translation from Dark Horse at least! One volume had the Prototype for Berserk in it, so maybe it's something along those lines?
I come with something pretty cool that a SK.net member threw together, it's Falconia all stitched together so you can look at all the details in one picture!
I can't wait to see Guts storm Falconia and color the perfect white walls red with the blood of all the peons following Griffith.
Berserk resumes serialization on the 8th of October. Volume 35 still comes out on the 29th of September, so it'll either be one episode short or contain 316 early...
I'm still hoping for some sort of extra content myself.
In other news, Volume 35's cover revealed!
