>Terezi auditions for radioplay
>>84931Receiving some rather weird interpretations?
>>84933Mostly just terrible microphones and none of the manic glee that a constantly grinning, playful lawful evil character would have.
>>84934Just the thought of Terezi without manic glee stalls out my brain. Does not compute.
>>84934Oh god, PLEASE link me to the worst of the worst! That kind of stuff is one of my greatest pleasure
>>84937They are all here: http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?30837-Homestuck-Radio-Play-(now-drafting-HIVEBENT)&p=3997823&viewfull=1#post3997823
The unusual auditions don't bug me so much - makes me glad to see that people are trying at least, putting themselves out there and using a little creative energy - but it's the rampant mispronunciations that get on my nerves.
>>84939I love how many different "flavors" of gamzee and tavros there are
What is this nonsense?
>>84944This as in Homestuck in general or something more specific, Anonymous?
>>84938Oh Christ these are awful. Someone just needs to bust in there with a bitchin' Fran Drescher voice. Well, actually, it's not that the voices are so bad, they're firmly middling. The problem is that none of the deliveries could even pass for normal in a foreign propaganda film. I mean what is it with people that they don't get there's more to voice acting than just doing the voice and reading the fucking lines!Part of me hopes this whole thing won't fall apart so I can behold what a muffled train-wreak the final product will be.
http://tindeck.com/listen/sxhvAhahaha, oh my.
>>84946I don't think this is a really a project you can go into hoping for big budget theatrics and excellent acting skills; almost everyone involved in an amateur and/or just a big fan. I commend them on actually going somewhere with it and I hope it doesn't fall apart because it still has the potential to be fun and silly. The stuff I'm mostly focusing on is whether or not people can at least emote at the most basic level and make an attempt not to sound bored or like they're reading off a cue card and whether or not their voice fits the pester log tics and tones.
looking through a few pages, so far none of the Gamzee auditions are really doing it for me. I've always imagined him with a voice that wavers in pitch more - something more matching his typing style, and the fact that it's hard to speak consistently when you're high as fuck. He's too focused, the voices are too smooth and too quick. bluh bluh hey comrade why don't you try it you experienced stoned-talker you
>>84949That's why I don't do good in these kind of things, Sure, you can say it's just a romping silly thing, but I would still demand that people give good performances. I hope you plan to whip them into shape and snap up the lines a whole hell of a lot, because dead air in between lines will kill comedy faster than a JDAM.You've gotta keep it speeding along, never let the audience be sitting and waiting for the next line.
>>84946>Fran Drescher voiceBut I don't want my ears to start bleeding! :o

>>84954Hah, I guess the hapless PR guy at Atlus is a fan!
>>84951I always read Gamzee as a younger Billy Idol, but only because I remember him being completely out of it 99% of the time I think I'm the only British person in the entire fandom sometimes. As someone who was involved in an ff7 web drama for a while, 2/3 of any cast will be mediocre, if not terrible.
Fef, come on this broodin shit is hard
>>84954
Arttrade guy, here's a conceptual sketch to show I'm not just blowing you off.>>84960Okay, this is hilarious
>>84954Damnit.Consider it sold.

>>84970>>84971See, it's a good thing I finished this, then! CHEER UP EVERYONE!If you thought this was going to be animated, then I laugh at you. Also, Bea, nearly done with the last of my animations, decided to switch out Aradia with Tavros.
>>84982... Okay I lol'd.
>>84970>>84971;_;

>>84983>>84985>>84986>>84987Thanks, guys! :Dokay, my tablet's being wonky right as I'm about to finish Tavros, so I'm done for tonight. Have the other one I've been working on, Bea! Hope it's not too difficult to work with!http://www.mediafire.com/?xtj657ty1ls4oxz
>>84982Ahahahaha, amazing!
>>84990Oh fuck, that expression is PRICELESS
>>84990Good?This made me laugh fyi!
>>84994Oh god, that's fantastic, both of you!
>>84994HAHAHAHA YES, BEA. You have my thanks!
>>84956> I think I'm the only British person in the entire fandom sometimes.Wow. You couldn't be more wrong. There's at least two others. At least. Not more than four though.
>>84971>>84970i dont get itpic is because i needed one
>>85001Captain, it appears to be a blowjob joke
>>85001dude got friendzoned.its sad (actually its funny)
>>85001If I had to guess the time game to tell each other their true feelings and he quickly blurted out, "I LURVE YOU!" or words to that effect. But she doesn't lurve back and she was probably going to say, "I love you as a friend and don't want to jeopardize that with zone flips."And if she'd been allowed to say that first he could have played off like, "Oh, I totally agree." Probably wouldn't feel any less heartbroken but the scene wouldn't have been so melodramatically cliche ridden. Like an 80's romcom gone horribly wrong. Sorry, dude, even the montage can't get you the girl. You ARE better off dead. Now where's my two dollars?
http://www.livestream.com/excitementaboundinghe be streamin'
>>84994The eye and teeth are too distracting between the frames. They just change shape too much and you're really putting yourself through more work than you have to. In fact you could animate this with most of the same materials between frames. I hope this isn't too terribly rude but I fessed it up a bit to show you what I mean.
>>85007Submitted too soon, sorry. Probably the universes way of telling me not to poke the bees nest. Bea's nest? Ahem, anyway. This still isn't quite how I would have done it myself but it's enough to show you what I mean. Same eye and same teeth (slight rotation on the bottom teeth), just different positions. The teeth wouldn't change much beyond the position, which should match orientation to her jaw. This is tricky with "toons" since by nature they bend and warp more than would otherwise be natural. You have to play around with animation to get a feel for it and every piece is challenging in its own way. What you are doing is suggesting movement to the rather easily fooled mind's eye.I hope this doesn't step on any toes. Sorry in advance.
FUCK UPDATE,WE NEED THE SAD...Also, Feferi and Sollux ship has ammo now
>CC: BY------------------------E!>CA: wwait>CA: dont go>cuttlefishCuller [CC] ceased trolling caligulasAquarium [CA]>CA: glubD:
That... Actually wasn't too bad. It went as well as it could, I think.
>>85004See? It all works out just fine when she goes first.Wait.FUCK!
If there is any silver lining to this it is found here:> CA: dont you think theres room in your collapsin and expandin bladder based aquatic vascular system for those feelins Cuz I'm sensing all kinds of new Kif based Feferi artwork! Y---------------AY!Even has the cowboy hat and everything. Soooo cool!http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=004345
Knowing that was going to happen did not make it less sad. :(
Oh....Oh, goddamnit. That...that hurt so much.
I'm impressed that Eridan, being a comically melodramatic character, is capable of evoking such genuine drama.
OK who wrote that fucking piece predicting exactly how it would go.
KIDS AND FUN
I wonder how many homestuck fans have been brought to tears by this update dredging up terrible memories of their own getting friendzoned experiences.
>>85021Which one? We do a lot of predicting around here, bub.
oh fuck i need a stiff drink after this update ;_;also the eridan auditions are actually pretty okay, mostly cause cute little accents...
>>85032Present...
Oh god ;A;I've been on both sides of this chatlog in my past
Oh my god I bet he goes to talk to Karkat and Karkat comes up with some zany scheme to make fefe fall in love with eridan just like in one of his troll romcoms and then shenanigans ensue.
Could've taken it worse I guess.
>>85038Oh gog I was just thinking the exact same thing!
>>85038That would be heartwarming and uplifting....I don't see Hussie doing that. :(>>85039Man... that's the frosting on the sad-cake.
>>85040>>85038CA: i don't think this wwill wworkCG: TRUST ME. I SAW THIS IN LIKE 20 DIFFERENT MOVIES THIS IS GOING TO FUCKING WORK.
>>85043It's kind of funny how we worry about poor Eridan when normally if a girl was dating a wizard happy genocidal madman who kills to impress the ladies our advice to her would be run. This is probably due in part to:1. This is fiction and we don't actually treat it seriously (except for some of you, you know who you are).2. It's not any of us who would be stuck with him it is someone who is, as above stated, fictional. It's like even Hannibal Lector deserves some luvin'. Wait, is there a Godwin clause for invoking that? Nevermind.
Oh no, Eridan.
>>85043She was tired, shes had to deal with that for what, six solar sweeps? Lets see you deal with some angsty teen who devotes his life to killing billions of people just because they live on land, only you being able to even keep him in check. Shes had her entire life devoted to keeping this guy from committing genocide and now shes finally able to let it go, everyone is dead so he has nothing to kill anymore, she doesn't have to deal with it, she still wants to be friends, she just doesn't wanna deal with him and his emotions anymore.
>CA: i wont even use my weird accent while i type ok so you know im bein really dead serious and honest about this Jeez...
>>85049I'm surprised nobody has dragged out the gun/stump imagery yet. Whoooooo boy.
My favorite part was when she started doing the fish puns at him.
what am i doing
>>85043Meh, I'm more of the opinion that he didn't deserve HER for as long as he had her. This seems more like she was doing it to keep him from being a true monster - not so much for him but for the rest of Alternia. The fact that she's even willing to be friends now just shows that she bears him no ill will for having to put up with his crazy nub for so long. Her reaction is like, "Well that was sorta fun, but I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore."And he's a big enough of a bulge head to think she'd have fallen for him in the meantime. But this is just one perspective on his character. He obviously has his fans/defenders.
>>85049Oh yeah, Eridan does seem like a self-absorbed, emotionally exhausting asswipe. Honestly if I knew him I'd be friendzoning him too. But I'm still here sipping gin for the motherfucker*, mostly because Hussie gave more insight to his thoughts and emotions than Feferi so far but also because shit still hurts even if it's justified.Honestly, it sucks on either end. This troll disease called love.*I'm also sipping gin because i wanted some gin but that is beside the point.
>>85049I don't want to get into this but every relationship has an element of "dealing with" the other person. As much as he might have wanted to, Eridan didn't stop helping look after her lusus because he cared about her.Bottom line is I feel bad for him. I don't really see what made him such a pain in the ass.
>>85053Something cool, Bea.Although I have the weirdest fixation with wanting to call this piece The Virgin Glub and the whole glub thing isn't even part of Kanaya's shtick. As I said, weird.
>>85053AHHHH hahha I'm so glad I'm not the only person who wanted to draw this
With the complicated romance system the trolls have I wonder what being friend-zoned on Alternia must equate to. Double-ouch for Eridan that he has no actual other friends.
>>85056Well, I suppose the genocidal quest he was on is forgivable so long as he was so comically ineffectual at it. And all the actual murders are okay as long as it served the utilitarian purpose of feeding the big ass Glub monster.I mean for some people. You're obviously one of them. Won't fault you for it and certainly won't argue but I'll just point this out in case you are wondering why not everyone feels bad for him. And probably never will.
Wait a god damn minute, I didn't even notice the flash announcement. Awesome. In other news, cyclopticRobot continues to be the best around.
>>85060I'm not sure what you mean. We're already making an analogy to human romance by calling it friendzoning.
>>85064>>85060Eridan explicitly uses the term 'Moirail zone'. So I assume it's basically analogous.
I'm totally late to the update but,...I totally cried a little bit. Just a little bit.
