So, let's discuss this movie. Alternately, general Pixar thread.
>>76461It sucked bawlz and was too short/had nothing to do with the toys. I'm going to see if I can get it to not be shitty.
And then... I found this.
>>76694i. wha. her string.man then there's a tinkle and whoops she's broke.
>>76695those are her corset laces I believe
So who else when they were little thought his name was Woody because his head/hands/boots were made of wood? ...No? Just me?
>>76697I did.
Had a thought, don't want to forget it. Hope someone didn't beat me to it:Children's laughter is a powerful energy source in Monstropolis. It's feasible that toys feed off it, too.Curious, curious...this leads to all sorts of thoughts...
>>76961Then how do those clanging monkey toys live? I'm pretty sure there aren't any kids or adults that like those.
>>76994I like them. Because they're creeeeepy.
>>76995Rock and roll Martian!
>>76994Fear also worked.
>>77002Though it's much less efficient, indicating he must cause about ten times as much fear as most toys cause laughter. Not hard to imagine.
>>77004So then the monkey was literally almost starving to death his entire existence.
>>76994Bonnie was playing with the Monkey early on in the movie. She has love for all things :3
Anyone seen those monsters inc comics? They make references to other pixar movies, and in one is pretty much a minor crossover with Sid stealing Boos Jessie doll for some reason.
Too sleepy to read and comment on the rst of the thread, but I went to see it today and GODDD DAAAAAAAMN. Exceeded all expectations, for sure. And those expectations could be seen from miles away just tickling them clouds.Dat incinerator scene.
Finally saw it.oh god
>>77014No wonder he was so easily upset. Lotso probably made him all kinds of promises."You keep doin' your job like a good little monkey, and we'll keep lookin' for a kid that doesn't run at the sight of ya. Until then, keep your eyes on those screens."
Oh would you look at that
>>78098Oh shi-
Woody. He'll see you in your dreams.
>>79161...are those toy-sized dildos?
>>79174Yes. Yes they are.
>>79176How... why... what?
>>79197somebody got them as a convention exclusive some years back with a statue apparently
>>79202I'm not quite sure if I want to know what statue it was.
>>79161
>>65934All day every day.
When do toys gain sentience? When the package is first opened? (IIRC TS2 correctly, no, they're sentient in their package.) When their body is fully completed? What if their birth is spending dayshours on an assembly line as soon as their head is fashioned, watching all the robots/people put the rest of them together? What if they are one of the last heads made that day, and the factory shuts down for the night while the head is still on the line, so they spend 12 hours as just a head hanging on something in a cold and lonely warehouse?
>>79286 Their conception likely beings with the idea that they are to become or represent but that doesn't mean they are born intelligent. Plastic, cloth or the other materials they are comprised of doesn't house sentience just as the carbons that we are made of don't specifically guarantee thinking. Consciousness no matter how basic or simple needs some time to gestate which I'm guessing at some point is triggered by imagination. Buzz's original existence kicked in when he was acting his role as a space ranger which was after his box was opened and he was long ago purchased and showed to Andy so in that interval of time either he was around media that said what he was or any number of children or people he came into contact with thought at least something about the toy. I'm not sure when or where they all awaken to what they're supposed to be as there are a long line of people in transportation, inspection, administration or computer maintenance that still maintain modern toy development before its journey stops at a store. So any janitor or clerk could have thought about playing or purchasing the toy and awakened the lot of them from initial imagination leading to some sitting trapped in processing plants, packaging or worse in the incinerator due to malformation or hardware error.
>>78098MY MIND IS FULL OF BLOWN
>>78098Oh God, I suddenly remember that!
>>79290>So any janitor or clerk could have thought about playing or purchasing the toy and awakened the lot of them from initial imagination leading to some sitting trapped in processing plants, packaging or worse in the incinerator due to malformation or hardware error.Oh my god what have I done...
VIDEOOOOOS~
VIDEOOOOOOOOOS~~
I finally saw it for the first time, yeah I know, slowpoke.jpgI fucking cried.
Wow, Lee Unkrich twittered in response to someone sending him that Zurg clip I uploaded. I feel special...http://twitter.com/leeunkrich/status/20927015748
With all the animated movies coming out this year, I wonder if TS3 has any shot at getting Best Picture.
The film finally passed $400 million in the US this weekend. It is the highest grossing animated film ever worldwide as well.
>>83776Sweet.
>>83776God's in his heaven and all is right with the world.
>>83776It's now the 9th highest grossing film in the US, and it won't be going any higher.Taking into inflation and 3D ticket prices it isn't anywhere near as impressive as Shrek 2 or Finding Nemo, but it's still well deserved.
Finally saw it - didn't cry as much as I thought I was going to, but then again that was probably because regular /co/ spoiled a couple of scenes. I should've stuck to the same strategy as I did for Wall-E - hidden all threads concerning it until I saw it, and seen it as soon as it came over here. But yeah, it was great. Really satisfying conclusion to everyone and everything. Oh, and the short was great, they really excelled themselves on a technical and creative level.
i cried
I came REALLY close to crying at the end. Luckily the credits made me laugh and forget about it.
I saw it shortly after it came out. I rarely cry at movies (or at anything else) but at the end of Toy Story 3...I still didn't cry. I did get a lump in my throat when Bonnie waved Woody's arm like he was waving goodbye to Andy, and let me tell you, it's no small feat to get me that emotional.I had more of a reaction while watching Up, to be honest. I got the same lump from the first scene, and I was on the verge of tears in that other scene, even on my third re-watch. You know the one. I needn't specify.
Cried bitch tears. And I'm not ashamed of it either.
Cried like a baby in the incinerator scene.
Haw.
