4chan complaint departmentBans, spam, (lack of) quality, etc.
I just dropped off my bookmarks. Dead to me, /co/. DEAD TO ME
>>251216Today I swung by a Dark Reign discussion about Osborn, all excited to see what was being discussed, and was greeted with quality I'd expect from scans_daily or some messageboard for 12-year-olds. It was very depressing.
The only things I've liked on /co/ in the last month: reaction images and livestreams. Simpsons episodes and Batman TAS go well with fever delusions. EVERYTHING ELSE IS COMPLETE ASS.
They're talking shit about Toy Story 3. I'll never look back.
>>251220What complaints did they have about it?
>>251220If it's about Bo they need to get over it. Or at least stfu. The copypastas were kind of funny though, in a lovable /b/ way.

What the hell?! They banned GottaVCR?
>>251310
>>251287>Your ban was filed on February 18th, 2006, and expires on December 28th, 2012, which is 936 days from now.i missed all the (probably) great memes and had to learn some of them secondhand through æ and other chan sites...
I've still no idea why our "future senator" was posting an animated "SUP /co" gif of them sucking their own penis.
>Getting trolled because opinions on JLI and Generation Lost.oh looks like I am on /co/ during the summer, alright.
>>251363Wha....what?
Why is /tg/ not destroyed yet? Why is /tv/ full of mild pedophiles? Why has /mu/ become a gutter worse than even /b/?
>>251384/tg/ is one of the few "good" boards left on 4chan.>/tv/'s pedophiles>only mild>laughingthings.fileextension/mu/ is nowhere near /b/ levels of shit just yet, and the board has always been inherently trollish because music discussion is always my opinions vs. your opinions. Just go for share threads, all else can be left to rot.
>my face when /v/ is just console faggotry and underage kiddies begging for games>realise the average age is about 15
Is plus4chan affiliated with regular 4chan besides being similar with the board names and stuff? Just curious.
>>251533Not really, no. This site was kind of made as an addon to 4chan mostly intended for /co/ users.
We 4chan now.
>>251533It started as a sort /co/ refuge for when 4chan was down or it got so bad that oldfags were sick of going there. And now we've all gotten sick of /co/ and since we spend so much time here it's expanded to a full range imageboard. It's still essentially a refuge board, though. /n/ and /dw/ are refuge boards and /draw/ and /coc/ are pretty estranged from the rest of the boards. /jam/ seems to be growing too.I like to think of it this way:4chan - Marvel 616+4chan - Marvel Adventures
Hey new adds.Moot must need money
>>251621Too bad he never gets enough of that. Money that is.
>>251648Considering the immense size of his community, you would expect him to rake in the dough. But that is not the case.Which is why I lol every time everyone bitches about him fucking with boards like somehow he owes them something.
>>251652I remember reading an article about it. He would show marketing professionals and the likethe numbers his site was getting, and they'd basically shit themselves in disbelief, wondering why he hadn't monetized it yet. And the answer was, he'd tried, and it just isn't possible. Sure there's a metric assload of traffic, which should basically be a license to print advertising money, but no respectable company wants their ads to be seen next to 4chan threads. That, combined with moot's insistence on non-intrusive ads (a sane position, since flash ads or interstitials etc could easily cause his userbase to go fuck off to somewhere else) means that he's getting bottom-of-the-barral prices. He doesn't even make nearly enough to cover the expenses of running the site.
>>251663 This.Which is why people who tell you the Internet is killing TV/ect should be shot. All the funding for sucessful online enterprises mostly work off the 'old' model of buisness to get their funds, or use intrusive electronic advertising and data mining.
>>251621Huh, and I was just about to ask how moot's money situation was going.>>251533Started off as a /co/ refugee site, but has now evolved into its own imageboard. I get the feeling that we still have a lot of connection to 4chan, what with /n/ being a refugee place for /new/, /coc/ being full of "Hey I saw this on /co/, let's see if we can make it work!" and even this sticky.
Thaaat, what the hell is thaaaat?
>>251663And I'd almost feel sorry for him, but then I remember he created /b/ and lets them rape /x/ and other boards. And needs more mods/janitors. But I really do hope someone takes down AT and the other spam flooders blackmailing him one day.
>>251718MORE ADS!MORE MONEY!
>>251720The few times moot has appeared in a thread he has been a surprisingly nice guy. Also he won't make people mods unless he personally knows them, dunno why but that's what he does. Also mods (and maybe janitors) require static IPs. He really needs to lower his standards a bit when it comes to making mods.
>>251873Anonex's policy of making mods of people who don't want to be mods seems to have worked out pretty well here.
i used to defend /co/ as being better than the rest of 4chan, and i used to discover so many new cool things on itnow they're all talking about how much they want to fuck a muppet when they're actually talking about anything /co/ related
/co/'s in the worst state I've ever seen it, but I'm not going to abandon it just yet.
>>251921In 10 years time you will say the exact same thing.
Honestly, this whole Avatar movie business has made /co/ the most interesting its been in a long while.
Sweet mother of God...what a combo.
I check /b/ every few days, just to see what the latest cancer is. Kinda like checking on the state of a compost heap.
So what the hell is anontalk and why are they so damnably passionate about spamming 4chan?Considering /b/ and the muscle it can pull when they think the same thing at the same time, I'm surprised someone hasn't pulled dox on whoever the fuck runs that place/the bot and beaten up their cat or something.
>>252351It's some dumb pedo spammer trying to make his shitty board the "best site on the web".http://encyclopediadramatica.com/AnonTalk>beaten up their catFuck you, newfag.
>>252351The only muscle /b/ has is against people who are technologically ignorant. Kimmo Alm is not ignorant of tech, he's just a true pedophilic aspie that knows how to spam people and has an unlimited supply of money each month from drawing government livelyhood dollars. They've tried punishing him technologically, nothing stuck. They've tried getting the authorities involved. Nothing stuck, because his country doesn't care about pedophilia on the internet. Anons have actually gone to his house and defiled his domicile by writing "pedophile" on it. He just removed it. So they spread pamphlets about him and what he's doing. There's nothing they can do save perhaps personally back and finance an attempt to change the country's policies regarding CP.
>>252456What kind of hellhole country does he live in anyway?
>>252553Sweden
>>252604Jazz? I have a job for you...
>>252456I feel sorry for his mom.
>>252456Seems like they could kill him pretty easily. I mean, if they know where he lives...
If you didn't know, /co/ has a mod now.
Do you think contacting Moot about taking off the rest of the 999 day ban will work, considering I've already served about 760 days of it already? Or will it horribly backfire and just get the ban extended for another 999 days?
>>252920If it's so easy to re-gain entry into 4chan if you are banned by just shutting off your router for a while, then how come this person has stayed in banishment for 760 days?
>>252920He'll probably just ignore the e-mail.
>>252938I dunno, if they catch you, you can probably get permab&
Holy shit /b/ and /v/ are html script raping YouTube HARD.
>>252991I knew it was them!
Haha, it's been a while since I got one of these.
>>252938I tried it, it doesn't work with AT&T U-Verse connections.
>>253036I love how they don't tell anyone that you can get banned for this random crap. Not only that, but it tends to be on and off when people get banned for it.
>>252991I wonder if moot has to pay fines or something when raids happen
>>253120I doubt it, it's his userbase and not moot himself fucking with youtube.
>>253120If moot was allowing them to use 4chan as a staging area, then probably, but since he doesn't he doesn't.
I don't know why, but whenever I see any mention of 4chan in the outside world, I feel fascinated.
>>253674>VirusI swear to god, the world will be swallowed by illiterate people.http://tweeter.faxo.com/Justin_Bieber_My_World_Tour
>>253674What surprises me is that the article didn't feel the need to explain what sort of website it was or what its reputation is. Whether that's because they didn't want to explain it or because it was unnecessary, I don't know, but it's weird to think that 4chan might be approaching common knowledge.
>>253317Which is exactly why there is no invasion board and the global rule:>The posting of personal information or calls to invasion is prohibited. He's not condoning it and in fact actively prohibiting it. It's enough to excuse him from any direct liability.
Welp, I'm not going to be going back to 4chan until October.Fucking summer.....
>>253929Always blame summer.
I've seen footage of a South Korean boy band performing in NK... all the NK bigwigs are in the audience wearing suits and looking serious, while this bunch of metrosexual Asian descendants of David Bowie do their thing on stage. One of the weirdest things I've seen. So he could go there, it could happen.
Well damn, the contest page was apparently a fake all along.
So apparently posting links to comics are bannable now. If that's true then my services are no longer required. They really need to start posting warnings about these things.
>>254882Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
>>254882Well that sucks.
>>254882On the plus side, this image will give me lots of hilarity in /a/.
>>254882Fuck that shit, homie.Either that, or you could just post all the scan links you find in a centralized thread here on +4chan. That's what EvilDave and RequestAnon did. Then they disappeared under mysterious circumcisions.
>>254882Have you jacked it in for good?
>>254902I'm doing like !bgREVLN8FU suggested and making a thread in /co/.
And now I'm unbanned. I think I'm getting fucked with by a mod.
>>254223Oh their is a Summer 4chan, it's alive and well.
>>254953 Your example is from /v/, and is thus invalid.
>>252991I don't understand, what are they doing?
>>254882Hold on a second, would this include sharing links on /mu/ sharethreads? Damn, no wonder this summer has been especially shit.
>>255098Listen together guy was banned for that, it seems some faggot mod has gotten it into is head that 4chan, especially /mu/ and /co/, are supposed to be morally upstanding even when it comes to copyrighted material. /co/ is hit because people are being banned for posting download links to new comics.
>>255203What the hell, sharethreads are the only good things about those boards these days. At least the last time I was on /x/ it wasn't so bad, original content and discussion was actually going on, and /lit/ isn't too bad either. But damn, I guess 4chan's pretty much dead to me now. The homebrewmen on /ck/ don't post as much either.

>>255467Welcome back, Chair Man Chump. :>

>>255513Okay, I get it. No more share threads on /co/ for now on. Whoever was posting links anonymously can make the threads and when the threads go back to posting just rapidshare links, don't come to me for mirrors.

>>255547That list is SO outdated. I masturbate to blood all the time, now.
>>255513Okay so are you just suddenly banned after you post, or is the mod making a new ban after the last one ends?

The Pokemon board is a big troll move. I'm assuming this because the 4chan Firefox extension doesn't work on it.
>>256369The extension has to be updated to work on any new boards, and rarely if ever does that happen - moot has to bother people who can develop it, since even he admits he is not good with computers.I do think you're right that it's a troll, though.
>>256588I didn't think moot was directly involved in the extension's development. I thought it was an independent thing by wrathfilledhate. That being said, when moot added /sci/, /lit/, /new/ and /adv/ they showed up pretty quickly on the extension.
>>256588>>256608In other news, I had to reinstall Windows and now the extension doesn't work at all when I install it.

I just got a 90 day ban for AT spam that I didn't do. I wasn't even on 4chan the day that the ban was filed. They haven't looked at my appeal yet and I doubt they ever will. This place seems nicer anyway; I suppose I'll stay.

Most of them are horrifying but I'd love to hear them anyway. In high school I knew a couple of acquaintances who were apparently /b/ goers, and spent their lunch periods talking about epic lulz, mudkipz, and whatever the hell /b/ does nowadays. One day they posted on Facebook asking how to triforce, and I stupidly told them along with mentioning moot in passing. Apparently they never knew that moot was the owner of the site and decided that I was some sort of mythical oldfag or something. Keep in mind that this was in 2008 and I was still in high school. They ended up fallowing me around the rest of the year yelling out memes and asking me about memes. It was horrible and I usually was either telling them to stop following me or I was telling them to stop shouting obscure internet references, go to other chans/boards, and stop associating with me. They basically became attached to my hip senior year.Well that;s my story, you guys have any?
>>257442It's both hilarious and somewhat disappointing that despite being someone who possesses a wide range of ideas, opinions, and simple contributions, all anyone remembers about MTL is a story he posted over a year ago, and on /a/ at that. This is coming from someone who'd jump at the chance to fracture both his wrists so who can't type for a while, though, so perhaps there's no room to judge.I hardly go to 4chan these days for anything aside from shares. Probably because my interests seems to be fading.
>>257565A guy I work with frequents /b/. He's only just 18, does plenty of stuff that isn't lurk on /b/ (IRL stuff) and is pretty damn good at his job. No horror story here.
>>257426California is also insane and wicked bipolar. My town has the most drunk drivers in the nation! (Wow, I'm feeling awfully bitter towards my state lately!)
>>257565I've known a couple meme shouters, but I've also known an equal number of people who are pretty chill about it all. It might come up in conversation as a place where we found a picture or saw a neat/funny idea, but 4chan itself is never the center of the conversation. Also we don't talk about it if there's anyone else there who doesn't know what it is.And I'm pretty sure several of my current friends went there at one point. Sometimes I'll spot a phrase or a response and the way that it's put together hints at a memetic origin. The meme shouters were the kind of people who will repeat the punchline to a joke everyone just heard for the next half hour.

>>258225>Click the first link to Christian Gaming Zone.>Brütal Legend (EA (who else?), Xbox 360 & PS3)>(Note: I have not played this game since it is rated "M" and isn't allowed on the Fellowship U campus, so I am basing this mini-review on Secular media reports.) Brütal Legend is a game centered around so-called "Heavy Metal" music (not the righteous kind like Stryper or Bloodgood, but the Satanic kind that is common in Secular culture). You play as Eddie Riggs, a roadie for a Heavy Metal band who is transported to a world based on the Satanic covers of metal albums, where he battles "supernatural overlords" using a battle axe and magic he conjures via his guitar as he travels in a hot rod named "the Deuce", which is slang for the Devil. Eddie Riggs (the character is named in honor of the Satanic demon mascot of Iron Maiden) is voiced by Secular musician/actor Jack Black. Black is a notorious anti-Christian Satanist. At a nationally televised awards show held by the Secular cable network MTV in September, Black actually led the audience in a prayer to Satan! He also appeared in a pro-Homosexual agenda video playing Jesus in which he mocked our Lord. His band, Tenacious D, regularly includes vulgarity and dark imagery in its songs. In his appearances promoting Brütal Legend, Black has been wearing a rubber muscle suit. Unlike real bodybuilders who grow their muscles through dedication to Christ, Satanists find themselves atrophied, both physically and spiritually, and so they need artificial means to pump them up (such as drugs or rubber suits). Having someone like Black as the public face of this game tells you all you need to know about it: it has no spiritually redeeming value and will likely turn players into physically weak Satanists. (Also I heard a rumor that if you press the Triangle/Y button 666 times at the title screen, you unlock a cheat that makes the dozens of licensed Heavy Metal songs in the game play backwards, allowing you to hear their backmasked Satanic messages. Players who don't enable the cheat instead get the messages delivered subliminally into their minds.) Considering all this, Brütal Legend has earned ZERO CROSSES.Oh God. Somebody show this thing to /v/.

I just got banned from 4chan for 1 day because I failed to enter the captcha correctly and got the banned url message. If you fail to get the captcha correct for five times, you'll get banned.
/b/ has been condensed into one thread
Uh oh. /b/ has disappeared. They will be flooding the other boards until it goes back up, which means we will probably be getting some refugees. Also the report button is gone and it'll autoban you if you miss the captcha too often so PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU ARE ENTERING THE CAPTCHA

Also the SC2 threads are just stupid. So the day the game comes out the entire board has intimate knowledge of the game and everything about it. At the same time they whine and bitch about it and everything Blizzard has ever made. "S-s-stupid Starcraft its not like I l-like you or anything"
>>265017
You know the most interesting thing about 4chan's moderating system? Most people do not know how to actually contact a mod if they have a question on the rules. 4chan does have a irc channel but it's not advertised as a general discussion and user support irc channel, but it's not publicly advertised at all except for a period in 2008-2009.Another sad truth is that there are about 30 mods on 4chan, however there are only about 7-9 mods that are on the public #4chan channel, but all of them log into the secret mod channel on irc when they log in as mods. The real problem with this is that if they want to contact a particular mod, they will not be able to because he does not go to the public irc channel.I know this because I was a #4chan regular.
All this bitching and moaning makes me want to remember why I even went to that butthole of the internet.I got a sticky on /b/ once. It was shortly after a huge event where Xenon and moot were having an internet-off and Xenon won, earning him administrative rights to the whole site for a day. He put animated gifs and music everywhere with bright flashing backgrounds. It was awful. Around that period, the entire place was just starting to become a shitstorm of irreverent self-important and talentless anon so moot and other mods prevented all text from showing up on /b/. People were forced to talk in mspaint jpg files and with image macros, not unlike jetpackvikingmod's thread. I was the OP of a thread that was something along the lines of "post your secrets in this thread. if they were never meant to be, they'll never show up again." Tons of people posted amazingly hilarious and candid (possibly false) stuff that was only revealed after the mods returned text to /b/. It was like postsecret for Anon. Not all that interesting in hindsight, but hey, I got a sticky so all you guys can suck my internet dick (because it is huge and palpable).>implying stickies matter
