it took me a few seconds to register what law did there
it's not a panel border.
now i want to see what Law did in these two years to become shichibukai. doflamingo mad cuz he only knows the old Law, the one that Vergo could stomp without breaking a sweat.

Man I was a little worried Vergo vs Law would be in another chapter, that this one would end with them just talking shit to each other

He doesn't want to cause any confusion with skintones when it comes time for people to ARMOUR-UP!

These translations are awful, but he's supposed to be talking about Vergo's beatdown of Law during his introduction in this arc, not two years ago or any other time. At least that's what I gathered from the raw.

Speaking of Vergo ... Yum.

If this wasn't One Piece, I could imagine this being the death of Vergo and a bunch of other people in one go.

Law slices everything in half, and then brings in the field, bringing down the mountain, breaking the whole factory so that poison gas is spraying everywhere but the crew, Vergo screaming and holding his bowels inside his chest, Joker and his men hardening in the poison gas, Punk Hazard collapsing down around everyone, and Law just walking off like he don't give a fuck.

When he tried to fight Vergo before, Vergo switched between traditional ass whooping and squeezing Law's heart before he could do anything. This is the first chance Law has had to actually fight Vergo on an equal level.

Haven't we had enough Law cock sucking? Do we really need to see him beat down in one hit that an established powerful character got his shit kicked in by? Does he need a bad ass speech to the big bad guy?

I really wonder what Oda had planned for this section before he doodled up those shitheads known as the 11 Supernova.

I hate the majority of the Supernova as much as the next reasonable and tasteful patrician One Piece fan, but I doubt he changed the bulk of his planned-out story just because of them. I trust Oda and his judgement.

That being said, Law does suck.
>> No. 29100
Ferrizzle. One Piece has so far avoided all the obvious trappings of shitty shounen. But here comes a motherfucker that embodies them all. Right there, center stage, doing shit that Luffy (our main protagonist, yeah, remember him? He's in this chapter throwing about two punches, I know, hard to spot) should be doing.

Luffy's beating the hell out of the actual Big Bad of the arc, and is declaring war against Doflamingo just as much as Law by doing so. Luffy was beating Caesar up while he threatened war with Doflamingo AT THE START OF THE CHAPTER. How much ADD do you have that you can't keep track of two scenes in one issue?
>> No. 29114
You know Law is just being built up so that Oda can:
(a) have him beaten down spectacularly to raise the stock of some villain
(b) introduce him as an enemy later on in the story

Anyone complaining that Law is overshadowing Luff probably doesn't realize that they're reading a 690 chapter manga that's probably going to be running for 500 more chapters.
>> No. 29115
>>29114
Law's already served his quota of getting beaten down for the sake of hyping a villain. Happened twice with Vergo. And yes, "yadda yadda he had the heart" -- I don't care; same deal.
As for him turning bad, honesty, it could go either way. Oda keeps playing with his loyalties by making it ambiguous. Maybe Law's plans to take down Big Mom(?) and disrupt the New World are more dangerous and sinister than he's letting on.. Or misguided at worst. Cause I have my doubts; he's not gonna make the guy with Bepo and Penguin and whatshisothername in his crew that evil. Fangirls won't approve, either.
>> No. 29116

They won't? Fangirls fucking love villains. Kidd, Crocodile, Doflamingo: as long as they're beautiful, they could kick kittens and baby seals and fans would eat it up.

>Fangirls won't approve, either.

What? I'm sorry.

Do you even know how fangirls operate?

Lemme break it down for you. A character could be the most morally despicable, unalturistic dick-wad in existence but as long as he remains cool, dark, and edgey fangirls will worship the ground he walks on and either bend over backwards to rationalize his behaviour or permiss it as part of their ovarian desires.

Seriously if you're gonna play the "hurr fangirls" card then at the very least know the fucking enemy. If you had said Oda wouldn't have done that in reaction to Law being given a humorous moment where he's made to look foolish or incompetent then that would've at least made it sound credible. Here it's like you need and excuse to pass off your paper thin argument and you go back to the straw-men you and several other people have invented to justify you insistent whining.

but seriously. You let fans dictate your opinion on something? What're you? 12?

Isn't Caesar the flunky and Doflamingo th mastermind with Vergo in-between? It just seems like Caesar is working for Dof and is only being able to do what he wants because of Dof as he answers to him. Vergo seems to have more power of authority since he is a vice-admiral and the leader of G-5 and has access to the Marine.
>> No. 29129
>>29128
Vergo's a flunky, he has power as a Vice Admiral but he uses it all for Doflamingo's end. He's a batch of muscle that Doflamingo directs like a puppet. Caesar meanwhile, although he does rely on Doflamingo for protection, is allowed relative independence. He's a coworker instead of an employee, even if they aren't on equal standing. Even now his poison gas experiment has nothing to do with his work for Doflamingo.

>Even now his poison gas experiment has nothing to do with his work for Doflamingo.

It kind of is. While I agree that ceasar is more of a coworker, it seems that in the end, all of his experiments would need to be oriented to serve Do Flamingo in order to be allowed. Both the poison gas and the giant-ify research.
I'm sure Do Fla won't allow either to give profit to anyone but him. That's also the reason Monet was sent to be with Ceasar, to support and protect him but also to control him.

What makes you think that? They have nothing to do with SAD, and Caesar's stated a dozen times over that they're going to be for anybody who pays. Doflamingo protects and assists Caesar in exchange for the Smiles, but Shinokuni hasn't been considered his at any point.

Ya'know, thinking on it what Law did isn't a whole hell of a lot different from Zoro dicing Ennis Lobby or that Ship, it's just on a slightly grander scale and there is nothing to say Zoro can't do it too.
>> No. 29160
>>29158
I wouldn't go as far as to say Zoro could do the same. Mihawk, maybe, and that's a slightly iffy maybe. He sliced a frozen wave in half, but I dunno if it's the same.
The thing about Law is that while it looks grand and scary and impressive, it really isn't. It's his power, not swordsmanship. Whatever is in his "Room" he seems to be able to take apart laughably easy at will.. so the ONLY thing impressive here is how big he's managed to make his Room bubble over the two years. Hell, I don't even know why he needed to use the sword to cut that stuff apart; just showing off.

Well, SAD is also going for anybody who pays, it's not stated that the artificial fruits are made exculively to Big Mom, just the biggest buyer. Also Ceasar said that the factory belongs to Doflamingo and it seems ha was refering to the whole lab.

I guess it could go either way until its stated that none of the profits from shinokumi or the giant proyect would go to Doflamingo.
