The one thing about Wakfu that I can't comprehend is: why doesn't it bore me after so many viewings?

I mean, take episode 1 of season 2 as an example: I've seen it on Ankama's site when it premiered, then I've downloaded the video and watched it more than once. I jumped into a couple of livestreams, after that I watched that episode with subs, then livestreams again and in the end I watched the HD release. Twice. Rinse and repeat for every new episode.

How crazy is that?

Anyone else find it a bit weird that three episode into this new season we still don't have a clear "big bad"? I mean, if we look at Season 1, two things were established in the first episode; it was clear that Nox was the main villain, and that he didn't fuck around. The closest thing we have to a villain here is Remington and Grany, both of which could be taken on by Eva. They are nothing compared to Nox, who could kill Grougalorafuckingran (granted, he needed his three puppets + extra power from the cube, but still), and Nox also had his clock fortress, minions and Razortime, and he managed to kill (even though it only lasted for a short while before the time travel) Yugo, Adamai, and every Sadida on the planet. In short, he was A LOT more powerful than the main cast. Remington and Grany would probably be taken out in five seconds by Grovy, Ruel, or even Yugo, hell even Amalia could probably defeat them, and they wouldn't stand a chance against two or more of the main cast. And then there's the fact that they fell down that ravine or whatever in the end of episode 3.

tl;dr where/who is the main villain of season 2? Are there any theories/speculation from you guys? Maybe something Ankama has said that I've missed?

Honestly, I think we'll be dealing with a pantheon of villains. If you look at the Opening we see the Ma Gerbil and Remmington in them as well as a host of other baddies, leading up to one huge dude on his throne (Is it just me or does he look like Ogrest to anyone else?).
It's also possible that Ankama is doing something a bit different with the pacing this season. There were parts of season 1 where Nox almost didn't exist, so maybe they're slowly leading up to a villan this season.

I know the feeling, there's this story that's been swimming around in my head ever since it was revealed that Rushu was going to be the Big Bad of (at least, a sizable portion) of Season 2. It wasn't really defined though until the events of 'Remington Smisse' where we discover that Yugo is immune to the villain's soul stealing abilities because he is 'pure of heart' instead of being Grufon's guardian. Said episode and discussion on threads resulted in this short framework for a story.

It's not as impressive as a fully realized artwork or piece of fanfiction, but I felt it needed to be jotted down, nonetheless.

Scenario:
Grufon is elated that Yugo isn't a ghoul, believing it to be because he's his Guardian.

Ombrage and Rubilax have a good laugh, cruelly telling Grufon that it's only because Yugo was pure of heart, and not because he was a Guardian.

Grufon: But, but, (looks at Yugo) you promised, you said you were my guardian.

Yugo: Grufon.

Grufon: It, it makes sense, a real guardian wouldn't give his shushu away, or let it get stolen. I just thought-. (parts of his parchments are beginning to moisten) -I guess I really am just a minor shushu.

Rubilax: Maybe the boy isn't quite as pure as you said Ombrage, treachery is the spice of carnage. Maybe you're pure in a different way little Eliatrope.

Ombrage: Maybe you're pure, like US.

Yugo and Grufon's relationship becomes strained as the season progresses. Grufon refusing to actually function, and is too depressed to be threatened. The two eventually reconcile in time to fight Rushu.

Battle ends with Rushu's domain collapsing, the rest of the party unconscious save for Yugo and Grufon. Yugo asks to be shown the way out. Grufon struggles and forms a complex map that will lead them out, the twist being that the exit is constantly shifting as per the chaotic nature of the realm. Yugo says he can't concentrate on it in his tired state. The minor shushu struggles until a clear path is discerned, the road home. Yugo tries holding the map up and using the other hand to create a portal large enough for all his friends, but can't.

Grufon: Lay me down Yugo.

Yugo: No! I just need to use both my hands, and we can all go home! I can remember how to get out.

Grufon: With your silly little head all battered you can barely think! I'll keep the path nice and clear. All you have to do is follow it.

Yugo: But Grufon, you'll be left behind.

Grufon: Hey, this is Rushu's dimension remember? It's where I belong. Beside, (jokingly) what do you care, it's not like I was ever your Shushu to begin with.

Yugo: (sadly) But you were my friend.

Grufon: (smiles) Farewell, Yugo.

Yugo: (begins to cry) Goodbye, Grufon.

(Massive teleport follows, getting Yugo and co. out)

Note: Yes, I know he probably could have afforded to bring Grufon, and maybe he does if this ever happens, but I just wanted to get this scene in

(Rushu wakes up from his beating and crawls toward Grufon, picking up his tiny creation)
Rushu: Shushu, I command you to show me the way out of this pandemonium!!!

(Grufon begins to remember his time with the Brotherhood, both good and bad, culminating in his last scene with Yugo)

Rushu: Obey your Master!

(Grufon smiles, and then promptly blows a raspberry at his creator)

(Rushu screams, and the entire underworld explodes)

(cut to a grassy field where everyone is beginning to wake up)
Evangelyne: We're-we're alive? (begins looking over her comrades) Did everyone make it out?

Yugo (sitting alone, arms hugging his legs, head bowed): No. Not everyone.

(cut to outside of an enormous Academy)
Professor: By Feca's toes! Emrub, Mt. Zinit, places only thought to have existed in legend! Sure there were attempts to illustrate them before, but these! Such detail, such care, such precision! And that's not even getting into the others of places we knew existed! Young man, tell me, how did you come across such a superb collection?

Young Man (face isn't seen): I made them myself.

Professor: By Yourself??!!

Young Man: I travel a lot. Been doing it for a few years now.

Professor: Unbelievable! Almost as unbelievable as how much you want for them all, for this book. This almost feels like a dream...

Young Man: Eh, I don't need many kamas anyway, I have a lot of people who owe me some big favors. Be sure to publish it nice and quick okay? (turns to leave)

By the way: since my re-upload of the fansub of season 1 to MU 3 months ago, each episode was downloaded (on average) 500 times.

No soundtrack released except for the theme song. You can get everything on Ankama's website (yes they have an English one), and a lot of stuff at fnac.com. Be warned, though: shipping from France is expensive as hell, so you may want to prepare a worthwhile order and/or find friends that would order stuff with you to split the costs.

Eva is strong, but Remington could have put a better fight, so either he doesn't have much skill handling his own weapons, or he got nerfed. I would go for the first one since he has various types of weapons; while it's true that his favorite are the guns, it does seems that he also uses the rest of his equipment, not allowing him to fully master them.

I watched the Goultard special, and I don't see how the ending possibly matches up with what we see of him in series. Does he deal with his little demon problem offscreen? Is Wakfu before the special ends?

I would make a twitter, just to follow wakfu update

A twitter feed that announces new episodes would be nice... but it also seems a bit dickish to keep pushing for one. If it goes up, great. If not, then at least we're still getting subs.

Just having people keep the discussion in a different thread would be plenty enough. It is difficult to check this thread for a new episode without being spoiled because some people are too lazy to look for an actual discussion thread and simply hijack the release thread.

I don't really know how Twitter actually works. I never had the need to use it so far.
I'll have a look once ep.4 is released to see if it's worth the hassle to create an account.

'til then, status update: proofreading is mostly done. Depending on free time our English native speakers will have today, the release should be this evening or tonight.

There is always a possibility that he will try to get back to Iop heaven. What I mean is that he won't mind the risk of being killed because he felt awesome there and could possibly pull some crazy suicidal moves from time to time. Instead, his body mysteriously vanished and they even took the time to mention that this was not something common at all (even in a world with gods and stuff). They might have well put up a neon sign saying "He's not really dead!" on his monument.

In contrast, they had Nox's empty armor pieces on his family's graves and even went as far as depicting a pile of dust right in the middle of the armor pieces. Again, they could explain it another way if they really wanted to, but unless that's voluntary misdirection, it really looks like they wanted to make it especially clear that he was dead.

Though its never stated in the show game fluff is that as xelors become more powerful they slowly turn to sand held together by their bandages and force of will. His armor is shown in a pile of dust blowing away.
His profile on the site was updated to read "tout ce que veut Nox désormais, c'est rejoindre sa famille dans la paix..."
"All that Nox wishes now, is to rejoin his family in peace"
And voice of god from the French forums said something to the effect that his story is finished and they wouldn't need his voice actor again unless vampyro/wagner showed up (same guy).

Short of outright saying it, it seems pretty heavily implied that he killed himself over his family's graves there.

I was going to ask the same. I am not so sure it is a change of the voice actor so much as a change in the production and inflection of Rubi's voice. To be sure, his voice isn't edited to be quite so deep -- there are times where Shushu voices are so low and gravely that they sound almost unintelligible to my ears. I think Ankama has also allowed the VA to give a lot more emotion this time.

Between the voice and this last episode I am super pumped to see more Tristepin+Rubilax action.

This summarizes the episode pretty damn well

I went back to check, Rubilax's voice does seem a little softer while he is in Tristepin's body. It might be something they specified to the voice actor, because he already sounds more like the usual when he gets back in the sword (although it's just a few words so it's hard to judge). He also sounds more like his usual self when he gets angry, it seems.

Also, I just noticed that the sound that plays from about 11:53 to 11:59 and 12:35 to 12:40 in episode 4 wasn't made by Ankama. I think it's from the Evil Dead movies (I recognized it from the Donjon de Naheulbeuk, knowing that PoC uses a lot of these tracks - compare the first 5 seconds of Pub Chiantos). I don't know how I feel about that. Wondering if they have the proper rights to use them.

DARN it, I keep trying to watch this but my downloads keep freezing. Doesn't matter what site I try to get it from, doesn't matter what browser I use. It just randomly freezes. Sometimes I'm able to get the whole file, but only rarely.

Rubilax used to be voiced by Gérard Surugue in season 1. In ep.4 of season 2, he was voiced by Thomas Guitard (Grovy's VA), and in episodes 2 and 3, no one is credited for his VA.
I don't know the reason behind this. Someone asked about it on the official forums, but it hasn't been answered yet.

Let's just sit tight and pray for a late Monday night sub. The team hasn't let us down yet (they're doing this out of the kindness of their hearts afterall).

In the meantime, lets overanalyse the little things in the newest episode. For example, Ombrage smiled rather wickedly when the fisherman picked her up (she was wrapped around a fish). Why wouldn't she just make the fish her "vessel" and swim for shore or something? Rubilax took over that little caterpillar or whatever it was, and he's supposed to be less powerful.

I also disagree with people saying Rubilax is now a good guy. He definitely did some good things but I don't think he's fully converted yet. He just so happens to like Grovy and sticks with him. With the whole team dead (if that ever happens) I see him going back to the evil side. Perhaps to fight against the other shushus cause he doesn't like them.

I think that caterpillar thing is one of the enemies you can find in the games whereas the fish was just a little fish. I mean there's fish enemies an all that but it's just a tiny little baby you wouldn't fight at that size.

Fish have like, 3 second memories anyway. I doubt she could take control of that fish.

The caterpillar though. It probably has some manner of reasoning. Rubilax probably got it to pick him up and talked to it (have no noticed Rubilax's capacity for telepathic communication with the whole Grovy can astral-project while in the sword and the whole he talks without a mouth in ruby form and talks without moving his mouth in his released form) and the thing didn't even know what the fuck he was talking about and just did exactly what Rubilax needed.

This council is made of Dofusborn Eliatropes. Their number is equal to the number of Dragons seen in >>37605 The story behind Islands of Wakfu, found on ithe game's webpage supports this theory.


The second one from the left looks like adult Yugo. Check out that picture from season one, that we thought represents him and Adamai in adult forms (see picture). Cosidering that one of the dragons in >>37605 (fourth picture in the right column) looks like an adult Adamai, and that Yugo-like Eliatrope is all around those pictures, my theory about them being reincarnations of their previos selves ( >>37616) can be correct. To further support this: check the picture in >>37605 again - we clearly see a Dofus with an Eliatrope and a Dragon in it.

The other unnamed Eliatrope is probably paired with Grougal (they are together on the pic with all the dragons - the 'Trope stands on Grougal's head - he's the dragon most to the right >>37605 ).

Well, the Yugo likeness is just the hat (and we have seen that named Eliatropes have many diffrent hats, so it's very interesting to find a similar one), but the dragon in that picture has big lips, one middle horn and two elk horns on the sides of his head - and those are pretty characteristic for Adamai. So it's either their ancestors or them in person.

I don't know where this whole "Eliatropes + Hats" shenanigans comes from, I thought Yugo just wears the big-ass hat because Alibert wears one.

Alibert found Yugo in his hat if you take a close look at the carriage. And if you have a look at Les Gardiens, you'll see all Eliatropes have similar hats.

There is no hard proof. But this very image appeared when Yugo has touched the Eliacube for the first time, and if we learned anything from Nox's special, it's that this thing can show it's user small glimpses into the future (like Millien's family dying in a flood) when you make first contact with it.

Other images that appeared when Yugo has touched the cube in episode 26 included one with six dragons and six dofuses (again, there were 6 Eliatropes in the council and each one was paired with a dragon - if that doesn't spell Dofusborn I don't know what does). It all falls into place.

Add all the stuff I wrote in my posts above (character similarities with the stuff that was shown in those images from episode 6 trailer and Islands of Wakfu storyline) and you have plenty to think about. It's nothing certain and I can be wrong with many things, but I know a plot point when I see one.

Besides, as Grougaloragran said in the very first episode, the future of the world depends on Yugo. He knew more than he told, that's for certain.

So I'm still betting on Yugo and Ad being reincarnations.
