Whether do to language barriers, rarity, prohibitive price, etc.I'd be quite interested in reading Alraune by Hanns Heinz Ewers. It's not impossible to find, but it's usually a tad out of my price range. Copies in the original German seem to be less expensive on average, but I can scarcely say more than "Good morning" in that language.Another I'd like to read is the Dictionnaire Infernal. Until recently, it was nigh impossible to find the book, but a recent French edition has made the book available at a modest price. Again though, language is a barrier.
Anything that has the accent in the sentence itself. "Ah ent don' nothin'" and all that.
>>4444FUCKING THIS
>>4444I tried so hard, but I just couldn't do it.
>>4444I've oddly never been bothered by that, but then, I'm weird in general when it comes to accents. I'm like a sponge; I listen-to or read an accent for a while, and I sometimes catch myself talking in it.
>>4447I started reading it and assumed it'd be something like 'A Clockwork Orange', where as you read further, the lingo would become easier to understand. But I read and read and nothing.
I think I've mentioned it elsewhere, but the latter parts of Dante's Divine Comedy were just too much. The Inferno was no trouble to read, Purgatory was bearable, but I only just made it through. I could not read the part about Heaven. It was just so repetitive; "glorious and bright, bright and glorious" over and over.
Guin Saga.Only the first few books have been translated in English. And it has over 100 books. And the author died last year. And I really want to read it.
There's a notorious biography about Frederick II Hohenstaufen that's only available in German of which I can only read a handful of words.
I feel like I lose my pretentiousness cred by saying so, but fuck I want the Baccano light novels. CURSED MOONRUNES!
Moribito seires... Moonrunes :c
Atomsk.Who would have thought that you can get a first edition Norstrilia for little over £5, but this one is so expensive. Triple fucking figures.Damn you Cordwainer Smith.
>>4825First book has been translated!It's... Okay.
I'd like to read Kafka in the original, I hear he does amazing things with sentence structure.language barrier
Just learn German and Japanese. Can't be that hard.Codex Seraphinianus. Language barrier aside I'd really like to own a copy but it's out of my price range.
>>4896>language barrierBut isn't it supposed to?
>>4897Yeah, that was my point.
>>4884The first two are out actually, with no plans to release the third. It's "okay"?! I love them!>>4896I'm trying! She uses obscure kanji at times to give it that ancient feel. It's supposed to be a kid's book goddamnit.
>>4896Hahaha what the fuck?
I can't find Neuromancer anywhere.Bookstores are also loaded with books that people wrote about writers/philosophers/scientists/etc. But I can barely find anything written BY any of these people
>>4937What, really? Checked online stores?
The Mr. Moto books would be nice to read, even as ebooks. I managed to save a copy of Thank You, Mr. Moto from being recycled, completely by chance.
