CAPTCHA won't display on 4chan for me, keeping me from posting.I was hoping one of you guys could help me with that.Firefox, latest version. Windows XP.
Do you use ADblock or Noscript?
>>1838No, sir.
Does anyone know what browser components could be missing? What does reCAPTCHA use?
>>1842 Java or flash, maybe? If even that.
After much troubleshooting, I have found that the Hosts file has been blocking websites that are related to reCAPTCHA.I have Administrator privileges, but it won't let me delete all the sites in the file. It won't even let me change its status as "Read Only". HostsXpert won't even touch it.Help?
>>1844Fixed it.Got Spybot. Took out Read Only restrictions on Hosts. Chopped it. I see reCAPTCHA now.
>>1845 So your ad blocking/malware filters were blocking it?
>>1846What I think happened is that some kind of malicious software had altered the Hosts file and then proceeded to lock everything down so I couldn't change it back.I don't think adblock or anti-malware would try to keep me from reaching Google. That, and the last person to use this computer didn't use it very wisely.
>>1848Most likely happened when the spambot guy altered the captcha so his bots could post again.
