Hey /tek/, I've been using this Intellimouse for several years now.
I like him a lot but his aging issues are beginning to be severe. Scrolling is semi sentient, clicks register as doubles and triples.
I don't know if these are issues exclusive to my model or just an age thing.

Can you recommend me a new mouse? Something similar to Intellimouse (I love the the back/forward side buttons), good for gaming and not too pricey.

Maybe even get the same kind, unless it's a faulty line

Logitech makes some good mice, and their scroll wheels kick ass.

To clarify: You can switch between click mode and a free spinning mode at will for long web pages.

Logitech is the One True Peripherals Manufacturer. The amount of water, sticky, sugary energy drinks and beer my Logitech mouse has soaked up over the years borders on the ridiculous. Not to mention all the biscuit crumbs, cheese specks, and cat hair. And yet it shows no sign of giving up the ghost.

Pic very related.

Even if you don't have his swimming pool of money, I think my DeathAdder was a very good investment indeed. I fucking love this mouse.

Logitech has nice hardware depending on what it is. My G5 v1 has lasted me for a few years now. Though the v2 that I bought a while after; the scroll wheel ended up fucking up and doesn't work half the time. I also bought three sets of headphones from them, 2 of them having their speakers go out on me.

Also their software and support are garbage. However they're really the only mouse makers that seem to get their products correct and still maintain a good price.

Askal post more awesome freeware.

Oho, I take it you haven't seen the /cog/ thread. Well, have an extra pair of underwear on hand for this then: https://plus4chan.org/boards/cog/res/185.html

Don't play the vidya very often anymore so I couldn't pick out favorites.

I'm afraid I can't help you there, I think I've looked at least twice before to no avail.

It might not be the same anymore but, way back when, I would use Gif Construction Set.

Well I was looking for something free..in my searches I find a bunch of so-called .gif makers and converters but they all cost money.

It also used to be freeware. Damn.

My heart broke the day I found out Logitech discontinued this mouse. D:

But it does explain why I got mine half off at Best Buy.

...what is the point of the thumb scroll wheel?

No.1659
>>1658

I'm convinced that it was so functional and smooth that people liked it too much and they had to go back to putting the scroll wheel where your middle finger can't reach it.

Also, the placement of the forward and back buttons were too sensical and they put them instead under your index finger where you also cannot reach it.

>where your middle finger can't reach it

M-middle finger? I scroll my wheel with my index finger.

I'm interested in this now. How do you all hold your mice?

No.1661
>>1659

Middle finger? I'm trying it and shit is disorientating as hell, you're a madman.

No.1662

Index finger on the first button, middle on the second. Scroll with the index finger.

No.1663

Using my MX500: thumb on Back button, index finger on Button 1, middle finger on scroll wheel, ring finger on Button 2. Keep control of mouse with whatever the fatty pad at the base of the thumb is called (which keeps contact with the mousing surface) and pinkie finger.

Yes, I've put a lot of thought into this.

No.1666

Index finger on the right button, middle finger on the left button, ring finger on the scroll wheel

No.1668

Volume control, start/stop/skip music control, flipping between documents instead of using Alt/Tab, whatever you think of. You could even make the forward/back buttons into shortcuts for programs and then make the thumb wheel into forward/backward navigation.

Also I use my index finger for scrolling.

No.1675
Why would anyone use their index finger for the scroll wheel? It's there specifically so you don't remove your index finger.

No.1676
>>1675
The motion is much easier for my index finger than my middle finger. It's hard to explain, but the lengths of the bones in my middle finger are such that to make the scrolling motion I have to pull my middle finger back almost as far as it can go. My index finger is sized such that I don't have to pull the finger back nearly as far to turn the wheel the same amount.

I also have more control and strength in my index finger.

No.1677
>>1675

My middle finger is too long. From a comfortable grip position on any given mouse, the tip of my middle finger would actually sit just beyond the mouse wheel.

No.1695
>>1675
Same as everyone else, too long. The last knuckle on my middle finger is past the end of the scroll wheel, so I have to curl it up all nublike to scroll with that finger.

No.1708
So in conclusion, Anonymous has tiny hands.
