1.) What games were the penultimate Starter moves(Hydro Cannon, Blast Burn, and Frenzy Plant) introduced in?

2.) Name 4 of the 5 Pokemon evolutionary lines to have the ability "Serene Grace."

3.) In Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, what was the name of the Farfetch'd you borrowed from the guard in the northern lookout station in Route 35?

4.) What is the secondary effect of the attack, "Struggle"?

5.) Assuming they both have 31 IVs and 252 EVs in Speed, who would get the first strike; a Nidoqueen attacking with Earthquake while holding a Choice Scarf, or an Electrode attacking with Explosion while holding a Choice Band?
5.5--extra credit.) What if it were a Charmeleon in Nidoqueen's place, attacking with Rage, still holding a Choice Scarf?

6.) What aggressive attack(meaning one that deals damage directly) will still hit a Spiritomb or Sableye with Wonder Guard?

7.) Name 5 Pokemon that learn that move, that will not get STAB from using it.

8.) What made Brock much easier for the poor unfortunate folk who chose the Fire-type starter in the Generation I remakes?

9.) What made him much harder to the same people?

10.) Name a Pokemon that can learn both Gyro Ball and Curse, and explain the advantage to this attack combination.

Remember, no using outside sources(dear Lord, no one is gonna get 5), and spoiler-tag all of your answers!

Well, damn, I used "penultimate" wrong, should be "ultimate." I should quit trying to sound smart while sleep-deprived.
Too lazy to format it that way again, so I'll just correct it in this post.

Good God, I am not prepared for this. I am the casual trainer, have been since R/B.

Well, I'll just answer the ones I do know.

1. Generation 3, specifically Fire Red/Leaf Green.

3. Trick question. It was a Spearow, named Cairo.

4. Damages the user.

5. Guessing Electrode. ELECTRIC TYPE BIAS GO

8. I'm probably getting this one wrong, but I THINK it was the same thing that made him easier on Yellow players--the presence of a Fighting-type in the early routes. For Yellow it was Mankey in Route 22, but I can't remember the FR/LG one.

9. He actually has typed attacks instead of just Tackle and Bide. Probably getting this one wrong too.

3. Didn't watch
4. A
5. Copycat girl
6. C
7. Levitate, Volt Absorb, Water Absorb, Flash Fire, Wonder Guard, ...hope that's it
8-10. Things I don't pay attention to.

(Bottom)
1. FR/LG?
2. Shaymin, Dunsparce, Jirachi, Togekiss line
3. Haha dunno
4. Recoil is 25% of your max HP
5. I believe it's Electrode (ugh close)
5.5. Hmm. Gonna guess Charmeleon...
6. Fire Fang
7. Luxray, Garchomp, Hippowdon, Steelix, ...ugh. Rhyperior?
8-9. Can't name anything in particular...that wasn't already there.
10. Steelix (popular answer =/.) Lowering speed increases Gyro Ball's power on top of the attack boosts.

While I think those answers for 8.) are both technically correct(too lazy to go check), I want something that specifically made it easier for those that chose the Fire type starter, something that wasn't there in the original Gen I.

8. Charmander was able to learn Metal Claw in FR/LG, but as far as I'm aware it didn't transist into Gen IV

No.10001
1. FireRed and LeafGreen offically, but they're obviously written in RS's code

2.
Topepi family
Dunsparce
Shaymin Sky Forme
...shit, um... Happiny family?

4. As of Generation IV, the user gets hit with 25% of their Max HP as recoil.

5. Electrode[spoiler]?
5.5.) [spoiler]Charmeleon[spoiler]?

6.) [spoiler]Fire Fang

7. Name 5 Pokemon that learn that move, that will not get STAB from using it.
Gliscor, Luxray, Hippowdon, TTar, and Granbull[spoiler]?

8.) [spoiler]Mankey is available in Route 24, and Charmander can learn Metal Claw

9.) A boost in level?

10.) Marcargo, as one can see in Blaine's HGSS rematches. Curse lowers Speed in exchange for a boost in Attack and Defense, and Gyro Ball is a Physical attack that gets stronger if the user has a low Speed stat.

No.10002
>>9999

It was downgraded to Egg Move

No.10008
1. FireRed and LeafGreen.
2. There's that many? Dunsparce, Jirachi, Togeip, Chansey.
4. Recoil damage. 1/4 of the damage you did in Gens I-III, 1/4 of your health in Gen IV.
5. I'm also assuming they're both at level 100 and have a nature that does the same thing to speed. Electrode.
5.5. Still Electrode.
6. Night Shade? (Checks answer) Wait, there's two answers: Beat Up and Struggle..
8. Metal Claw
9. Rock Tomb
10. Lickilicky; Gyro Ball increases damage depending on your opponent's speed compared to yours, so the speed drop from Curse makes the Attack boost even better.

No.10011

Make that three answers (read about Fire Fang glitch), although that's the only which can let you answer the next question..

No.10027
1.) Pretty sure it was 3rd gen

2.) Togepi line, Jirachi, uh....chansey line, does dunsparce count? All I can think of

3.) Ahhhh, I know this. Goddamn it...No idea

4.) Damages the user

5.) ...I wanna say Electrode, but I'm guessing it's a trick question so I'll say Nido

5.5--extra credit.) Electrode?

6.) ...Hrm. I'm guessing...Struggle. I mean, it's your last resort, right?

7.) Well shit I guess my last answer is wrong. Oh well.

8.) Part steel I'm guessing?

9.) Ahh...Probably better moves. No idea which one that can be.

10.) ...Gengar? Bope.

You didn't get it right. You were right about it being a trick question in that he really gave you a Spearow, but its name was Kenya, not Cairo.

Aw, phooey. I could have sworn.

Same subcontinent, I guess.

No.10192

As the creator of the question, I'll confirm that it was indeed Kenya. Changed to Cairo for HGSS, but in GSC, it was Kenya.

Should I post the answer sheet now, or wait a couple more days?

Answer sheet time!

1.) I asked what games, not what gen. While it was coded into RSE, you couldn't obtain it in those games, it was only officially introduced in FR/LG.

2.) Chansey line, Togepi line, Dunsparce, Jirachi, Skymin.

3.) Trick question, it was a Spearow. Named Kenya, for those curious.

4.) As of Gen 4, it deals 25% of the user's max HP as recoil damage.

5.) Electrode, surprisingly.
5.5.) Charmeleon. Again, surprisingly.

6.) Fire Fang.

7.) http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-dp/firefang.shtml
Take your pick.

8.) Charmander learned Metal Claw in Gen 3, which is Super-Effective against Rock types.

9.) Brock now had an actual Rock-type move, Rock Tomb, as opposed to his Normal-type moves in Gen 1.

10.) There are quite a few, my personal favorite is Lickilicky.
Curse lowers Speed, which raises the base power of Gyro Ball, while raising Attack(allowing Gyro Ball[and anything else] to hit harder) and Defense.
