I wasn't very original.

My rival in HeartGold is named Roberto, but that's mostly because I have a love-hate relationship with Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks. Love him during the regular season, HAET during the playoffs.

I traditionally name them "Rival" simply for the sake of convenience.

I did name Barry "Flapjaq" in Platinum, though, and HG/SS Silver earned the name "Giorno" out of my love of bad and/or esoteric puns.

In platinum, I named him Iago, because as of right now he's my most favorite "villain" from any piece of literature (Othello just in case nobody knew)

In Red it was Blue >>9193
In Crystal it was Jeff (my ex)
In my Soul Silver I named him Silver, because I'm unoriginal.
and for the other games I forgot what I named them.

When I was 11 or 12: Asshole, Shithead, Faggot, surprised I never used Gaylord. I'd restart my game so many times for reasons I can't remember.

Nowadays: I just pick a name off the top of my head, I went with Bill in Pearl because that was the classmate I was talking to at the time, used Damien in SS because it seemed appropriate for the character. Think I used Bill in Plat too, but I can't remember.

I tend to use "Douche" or "do me" as it is amusing in conversation.

I tend to name my rivals, "Barkus," as of late, nickname of a guy I consider to be roughly the closest thing I have to a rival.

I'm dildos at naming, so I simply stick to official names. OP anon is genius.

I just choose names that I think fit the characters. Not that exciting, haha. This guy's name is Liam in my game.

I named him Guile because he sort of reminds me of Street Fighter

I named Blue Wangus cause he's a total wang

I named Silver Douche for obvious reasons

I named the rival in Pearl "Asshole", because I'm immature, and find it hilarious when his mom comes in and asks "Has anyone seen my little asshole?".

I named the rival in Heart Gold Sanchez.

Named Silver "Massimo" because he was my favorite rival and I love the name.

Can't remember the others, think I just stuck to the computer supplied ones.

Always DOUCHE. I name my Pokemon with lowercase letters. I name myself with lowercase letters. My rival is always DOUCHE.

In DPPt I name my player character and rival after my favorite pairings. XD; I also do that in Fire Red from time to time. But in my first Diamond playthrough I named Barry Jason simply because I like that name. And in one of my Fire Red games...I think I named the rival n00b or Dick or something silly like that.

In Sapphire and Emerald I name the player after my favorite female characters.

In SS I named my Rival Kanye....it worked so well.....

And in Platinum I named him Flash

I named him Akira because I thought it suited him..

I name my rivals girls' names. My rivalguy in SoulSilver is named Cheryl. (I did the same thing to my player character, mind you. His name's Susan.)

I think the only time I didn't do that was with Red/Blue. I named him Gary that time because I was like 8 years old and watched the TV show.

My rival's names are usually my friend's names from my school, except for HeartGold its Silver.

I don't remember what I did when I was younger. I named Barry Horatio because Lysander didn't fit. Don't ask me why I chose those names. I named Silver, well, Silver. Because I love him.

RBY - Gary, Joshua, David. The last two are guys I hated in grade school.
GSC - ???, Jerk. Because I'm clever.
RSE - NOPE, LOL
DPPt - There was a name I originally had for him that I liked, but then I forgot it the instant a friend of mine suggested I use his name. He really does look like a 'Martin.'
HGSS - Silver, because fuck, I couldn't think of anything else.

I only named my rival in SS. Named him DOUCHE because seriously he's the douchiest rival in the entire series. Even more than Gary. The guy just steals himself a pokemon.
