>>5020I lost the original and posted this. :(
Assuming they're in the proper order...The grass-type will be yet another reptile of some sort. The fire-type will start off as something out of the Hundred-Acre Wood and then become a godless killing machine of a bear. That water-type better be a platypus.
>>5023 Scratch that middle remark. It'll become a godless killing machine of a boar. I just noticed the springy tail.
God bless the grass starters.
>>5031Thank God I'm not the only one who saw that.
>>5031>>5034I expected this sooner.
>>5031Well, now I know what I'm naming my Grass starter.
>Fire PigPLEASE GOD LET THIS HAPPEN>Grass PigNot sure if want
>>5038My mind has been blown!
>>5031Holy shit
I'm hoping this time it'll be a different type Starter triangle. However, the only triangle I see working is Dark, Fighting and Psychic.
Center one...Might not want...
>>5056Why do they even need to have a triangle type setup? When you get them they never know any elemental attacks and by the time you see your rival again, you already have a full team.
>>5056Dark's immunity to psychic fucks it up.
what if they finally mixed up the types and we get something like poison/psychic/bug starters?
>>5065Poison isn't super-effective against Bug. And Bug isn't resistant to Psychic, either.
>>5067ground/poison/grass then or rock/steel/fire
>>5068How is any triangle with Steel and Rock in it good for starters? And Ground and Grass are too similar in concept, with Poison becoming an odd man out. Actually, Steel/Rock/Fire has the same problem. No triangle is as triangle-y in concepts and weaknesses as Fire/Water/Grass. The only way to improve the game and get rid of that triangle, is to change the number of starters you get.
>>5070you take the ore(rock) and smelt(fire) it into steel.machines(steel + fire) carve out rock.hit steel against rock to get a spark(fire).but I guess you're right.
>>5070four starters, each being super effective against one, ineffective against another and normal effective against the last. To lazy to check if this would be possible, but it would be neat.
A kiwi bird, a pig, and a sea otter?
>>5037>Fire pig>Haughty grass thing>WATER BEAR I WANT YOU TO BE REAL WHY CAN'T YOU BE REAL
I want to say they look dorky and I'll hate them but that's what I said about the Gen 4 starters too and I fucking LOOOOOVE Empoleon now.
Bottom right is Grass and it's a beaver. Calling it.
Grass starters are always reptilian. That kind of narrows it down.
I would use this grass starter so hard
man the designs have really gotten worse...
>>5071When I said Rock and Steel were bad for starters, I meant because it'd be broken.
>>5103That's really impossible to tell from silhouette alone.
>>5103Tell me one thing that wrong with these SHADOWS.
These seem fake to me.
>>5113Hmm. Yeah, they don't match up very well.
>>5113 >Fire ScorpionWHY CAN'T YOU BE REAL
Seemingly dupes. They technically could be other pokemon, but with the coloration of them I think they're probably meant to be dupes of starter pokemon.Plus, those screenshots on the pages seem to be ones we've already seen.
>>5105>>5106silhouettes are actually pretty important in terms of design, bro.And for one thing they look pretty awkward for Pokemon shadows. They don't appear organic, just weird and "zany". The "pig's" tail looks retarded. Reminds me of the 4th gen cat Pokemon that was unnecessary. These newer designs can be judged more and more by their appearance. I mean seeing the sprite of the 4th gen trio is proof enough. They're running out of ideas.I'll reserve judgment til' they are revealed. Zorark (?) was an ugly start.
>>5121>roar I am angry and quick to judgeGive it some time, anon! I bet it'll be radical.
>>5121That's true. It's a hallmark of good character design if you can recognize a character immediately from its silhouette.
>>5124Did that really come off as angry? You need to ease up on the poke-circlejerking.I did say I'll reserve judgment. It just seems like a bad start is all. It's okay if you actually liked the 4th gen.
>>5125But we can't do that yet, because right now all we have are silhouettes.
I want bottom right to be some sort of fire-badger. I want it so bad. So. Bad.
>>5128>all we have are silhouettes.Zoroark and his prevolution were revealed. It's most likely that most Pokemon are gonna follow in suit of his design with headbands, patterns and all these do-dads. It's not like the shadows are blocks. You can tell a lot from them, but not something 100%.
I HAVE CREATED COMEDYHal helped.
>>5132you went through all that trouble?that's... pretty sad.But at least with this image you can see that they don't look as crazy as the newest batch. That's just my personal preference though.
>>5132This highlights pretty nicely what's wrong with the new ones. Simplicity is key.
Keep in mind the original 150 were made to be readable on shitty shitty gameboy screens.
>>5062Well, outside of >>5068's rock/steel/fire combo, this is the only thing that can work. Besides, that would add to the challenge.
>>5138Only if you're the Psychic. It's an imbalanced triangle.
>>5139Evoles into Psychic bug then, or something that resists dark.
>>5142That's still not really a balanced triangle, and final evolution dual types are irrelevant. Still haven't fixed it.
>>5113http://cascadegonpory.deviantart.com/art/hoax-01-163402061
>>5144Flying/Fighting/Ice worksSo does Poison/Grass/Ground
>>5151There are no Pure Flying types, so a Normal/Flying wouldn't have the resistance to Fighting that you need, while Ice has a resistance to absolutely NOTHING but itself. That triangle doesn't really work, especially since the three types don't really mesh into a triangle as an image very well.Poison/Grass/Ground has all three types a bit too similar to each other in concept, for starters anyway. The types do work out in relation to each other, but then those two added types don't interact enough with all the other types in the game (which is really bad if the starter's supposed to be your MAIN MAN.)
>>5154>There are no Pure Flying typesso they make one...>Poison/Grass/Ground has all three types a bit too similar to each other in concept,is that really so important?>for starters anyway. The types do work out in relation to each other, but then those two added types don't interact enough with all the other types in the game (which is really bad if the starter's supposed to be your MAIN MAN.)maybe their trying to make you focus more on caught Pokemon and less on your main.still filled with blind hope here.
why''s everyone so against fire/water/grass as starters?
>>5158Not against it myself, but a different sett of would still be interesting.
>>5157There can't be a pure Flying-type. "Flying" is more like a characteristic than a type.
>>5160But... But it used to be!Back in Gen 1!
>>5161Back in my day, pokemon used to mean something!
>>5161Yeah-huh, and look how well that turned out.
>>5157Yes, it's important. The three starters should be distinct and separate. Poison/Ground/Grass doesn't have an interlinking theme like the elements, but the types of Ground and Grass are still too similar that the starters made by it wouldn't be different enough from each other.>>5160In Gen I it was also BIRD. But Bones is right, Flying is a characteristic more than a type. There are no Pokemon with Flying as their primary type, at all.
>>5136...Those aren't any more or less complicated.
>>5167>In Gen I it was also BIRD.In next gen it should be changed to BURD
>>5179Birdkeeper IVAN wants to battle!Birdkeeper IVAN sent out BURD!
>>5177There's a little bit of a difference in simplicity levels, but above all the complexities in the new ones seem kind of tacked on, you know what I mean? Having seen the old ones before might be a bit of an influence, but someone who hadn't could probably look at their silhouettes and get a basic idea of what's supposed to be going on in there. For the new ones a lot of it seems sort of extraneous. The designs don't really flow at all, save for maybe the first.I like to hope that against all odds at least one of them will be cool, though. Highest hopes for the one on the left, worried by the seemingly inexplicable lumpiness of the one on the right, and can't really fathom how the middle one could end up looking decent.
>can't really fathom how the middle one could end up looking decent.A Fire Pig, you can't tell me a Fire Pig won't be cool as Bawls. If it's anything else though? Eh, I dunno.
Speculation on final evolutionsFire/Steel - AnteaterGrass/Flying - Another grass/dragon thingWater/Ice - Polar Bear
>>5190Oki-Dokie, lets do this.Fire/Steel WarthogGrass/Flying CraneWater/Poison Platypus
>>5191Fire/Ground BoarGrass CrocodileWater Capybara
>>5190Fro left to right:Water/??? No ideaGrass/fighting panda/kangarooFire/ground lion/bear
>>5206I hope you're wrong about the kangaroo.
Swan-duck grass/flying typeFire/Rock itty bitty piggyWater-ice platypus polar bear. The greatest of all mythological beasts.
>>5223I don't. I want a kangaroo buddy so bad!
If that pig thing is the fire type you better believe I'm naming it BurnBoar.
Pretentious Dragon is best dragon.
>>5229I'll name it Boarn.
>>5280Man, I'd kill for a grass/dragon.
>>5380Yeah, that'd be awesome. There's no way they'd make a Dragon type starter, though. :/
>>5421Maybe if it didn't go Dragon until its final evolution.
ARE YOU READY
>>5548beat me by a second
According to /jp/, they're all Dual-Types.>3 new starter pokemon: Tsutaaja a Grass/Fighting pokemon of ivy, Pokabu a Fire/Dark pig pokemon and Mijumaru a Water/Psychic pokemon that can roll into a ball.
Smug Lizard is my favorite of the 3.
...Damn. Grass/Fighting is a good combo. The defensive tanking and healing of grass type and the damage dealing of fighting type. But come on. Fire. Dark. And that thing is totally gonna evolve into a ninja boar. Pokabu is clearly going to be a bro.
>>5550oh my god.I wanted them to have dark/fighting/psychic as a combo going in the opposite direction of water/fire/grass...but I didn't think they'd actually DO it.oh my god!I am so excited right now.
>>5550My Japanese may not be top notch, but I don't see any mention of dual types.
>>5553>>And that thing is totally gonna evolve into a ninja boar. Not what I was thinking.
>>5555Yeeeaah, I can't get confirmation on that, might have jumped the gun.
>>5548I want to see the evolutions before I make my final decision, but right now Grass is my favourite. You can just smell the smugness oozing of it.
