http://www.pokemonvgc.com/en/events.phpAnyone going?I live in Canada, so I can't.
Just postan some shit.
I have the same problem as Deon. Well, that and I *am* in my early 20's.
I wish I could go just to watch/see what kind of people show up to these things/get the Shiny Eevee
i'm going to the one in Phoenix. anyone else going?
>>4710I'd really, really like to, but I doubt I'll make it.
Darkrai might be banned, but luckily there's Dark Void Smeargle!
Apparently they don't play Red's theme over the finals in the US.
>>5195Holy shit, all the "FAIL!"s and "Rape!"s and "Guys, I think Groudon is a Rock/Dragon type"s were annoying as fuck. And it is sort of surprising that those were the Finals. I could probably beat Fish with a gimmick team.
>>5540Just regional finals, mind you. It'll be interesting to see what will go down in the world finals in August.
Junior Division!
>>6877Cute! I hoped bottom left would win though, since he had fewer legendaries.
>>7000I too was hoping the team with the Ludicolo would win. I'm a little surprised it went to finals though, I was expecting a pretty much identical match to the senior division finals
>>7074Well, they are allowed to bring 6 and use 4.Maybe the other two picked up the slack.
Here's how it went down in San Fran.Phoenix on the 22nd.
Phoenix
Christ I could probably beat all of these guys without even using legendaries. It's too bad I don't have money to travel or the desire to even try.
>>7939Perhaps. Are you thinking in terms of 4vs4 doubles though. If all you've got is experience with 6vs6 singles, you might have more trouble than you would anticipate.Hypothetically speaking, of course.
One crit and things seem to rapidly go downhill in the UK.
There don't seem to be any live recordings of Dallas, but here's the battle video...
Germany! They don't appear to have any kind of song to play over the finals at all.
>>8777>Hitmontop named Meat Spin?>now can't get traumatic memory of Meat Spin stuck out of head.
Man, I'm really glad I didn't attend these tournaments now. I can't imagine there being a lot of variety, the way they let people build teams.
>>8789But don't you want to win a week in Japan.
>>8792Why would I want to go to Japan? I really don't care about a lot of the culture; the music and the food and the fashion and whatever else you can think of. I also don't speak Japanese, so it would just be really confusing with no point.
>>8793I dunno. Looks like they changed it, anyways. Now it's a trip for four to Tokyo, New York, or Oahu, including airfare and 6-day/5-night accommodations for winning the World Championship.Along with a special custom DSi (not this one).
>>8794And "Additional Pokémon items" That's kind of vague.Oh, and I guess you get an invitation complete with airfare and hotel booking to the 2011 World Championships.
>>8794...Okay, yeah, I'd compete for that DS.And New York or Hawaii would be great to visit.
>>8796You need a place to sleep I'll get you one.And maybe a tour and some Coldstone Ice Cream, if your well behaved
The lowdown in Newark! All the US Regionals are over, it'll soon be time for the Nationals in Indianapolis on the 25th-27th!
Things are heating up as the VGC/TCG US Nationals begin!http://www.pokemon.com/us/news/op_nats10_interview-2010-06-25/
The last chance qualifiers have last chance qualified.Imagine if they then won the Nationals and got to go to the World Championship. That would just make their day.
Watching these make me jealous. I wish I had known about it early enough to prepare a team. I would compete solely for the glory. It'd be like living out the dream of my ten year old self.
Nationals action.
Come to think of it, it'd be pretty neat to be at the World Championships and be able to trade Pokemon and/or cards with people from around the world.
Now with it's own website.http://www.pokemonworldchampionships.com/2010/
Trophies today are always glass it seems.
Last year's card game champion, still wearing that Kyogre hat.
Merchandise!
Seems like a good souvenir.
Aw yeah, one of the few Canadians at these things is now the Senior TCG champion!Go Canada!
Also VGC champs, too.Next year in San Diego
The Junior champion DIDN'T have a Kyogre!Gasp!
The senior champion did, though, and I think both runners up had one as well.I wonder how Nintendo thinks of their little restricted Pokemon experiment.Last year all those restricted Pokemon were just banned.
>>11780Using a Swift Sim Ludicolo to set up sunlight...ingenious.
>>11780Lol...Shota...
Here's an info video.
>>11783...Holy shit. Why have I never thought of this.
For a world event, these things are so American. * 2004: Orlando, Florida * 2005: San Diego, California * 2006: Anaheim, California * 2007: Kona, Hawaii * 2008: Orlando, Florida * 2009: San Diego, California * 2010: Kona, Hawaii * 2011: San Diego, CaliforniaYou'd think at the very least Japan would get a turn.
>>11814Man, do you WANT us to lose? Geez, think these things through first.
